A video on Nintendo's Japanese Wii website reveals two more sports for their upcoming game.

According to a video on the Japanese Wii website, Table Tennis and Golf will both be featured in Nintendo's upcoming MotionPlus-featuring game, Wii Sports Resort.

Golf was previously available in the first Wii Sports, and Table Tennis was featured in Wii Play. Both games will be improved by Nintendo's new peripheral Wii MotionPlus.

The two sports join Frisbee, Kendo, and Jet Skiing as confirmed games in Wii Sports Resort. The game is rumored to have about 10 games in total.

Wii Sports Resort is scheduled to come out this June in Japan, and on July 24 and July 26 in Europe and North America respectively.

Thanks to nintendoexpert89 for the tip.

I find it very intriguing (yet slightly unsurprising) that WSR is going to feature Golf, a sport already featured in the previous title. I wonder if WSR will also feature other improved versions of the prior games to show off the capabilities of WM+ to the blue ocean market...

PopeRealMay 18, 2009

I was already planning on getting this, but glad to hear there are more than 5 events.

Baseball and Boxing would also benefit from MotionPlus, as would Tennis, but this could easily turn into a pure rehash of the first Wii Sports.

Table Tennis is a perfect choice that hadn't even occurred to me.

DAaaMan64May 18, 2009

Since I love Ping Pong to death, I'm glad to see it in WiiWare.

AVMay 18, 2009

hopefully the version of table tennis will be great. I hated rockstar game and Wii Play version sucked

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 18, 2009

The Mario Party 8 ping pong was cool.

BlackNMild2k1May 18, 2009

I'm still hoping for the flying game to be included.

But I'm also hoping that the entire WiiSports is included as a M+ upgraded unlockable after you get Pro status in everything.

Sorry, Wii Plane suffered a midair collision with Icarus over Canada.  No survivors.

FAA is still investigating.

CalibanMay 18, 2009

Table Tennis with M+? Hell Yeah.

Hang-gliding would fit well with the resort theme...

I really doubt it, my guess is that it may have 1 more game from Wii Sports that they felt could be improved but that will be it. Should be interesting to see how Golf will compare to Tiger Woods.

BlackNMild2k1May 18, 2009

I'm sure golf will be TW lite, if you go by how the video of the control is implemented in table tennis, to what we already know about TW10

NWR_pap64Pedro Hernandez, Contributing WriterMay 18, 2009

People had trouble mastering the Golf controls in the original Wii Sports. Motion Plus should allow players for more control of their swings and force.

Mop it upMay 18, 2009

That's kind of disappointing. Golf is already being covered by Tiger Woods and table tennis has been included in way too many Wii games, not to mention there's a regular tennis game with Motion + being released.

I hope the remaining sports to be revealed are something more unique and/or interesting.

I don't know why you guys/girls are bitching. Having Golf in the game is a good thing.

Golf was decent in the last offering. With this being the sequel to a PACK-IN game, I don't understand why having an improved version of a mini-game is something bad.

Sure we all want new exciting games, but how many of you disliked golf in WiiSports? Then is it so bad to try it again with better controls? And how many of you liked golf in WiiSports? Well don't you want a new version with better controls?

And Table Tennis sucked in WiiPlay. It was basically Pong except with waggle controls. It is in need of better controls and I am excited to try it out.

I'm not whining. I may FLY OFF THE HANDLE though.

Wii Sports Golf was the only golf game at the time. Golf has been dome multiple times on Wii and even one which uses Motion +. Personally I'd rather Wii Sports Resort have unique sports which are either not available or have been done poorly.

Table Tennis might be different than regular tennis. Maybe.

StogiMay 18, 2009

This game is not about you.

I know. That doesn't mean I can't have preferences. Is that a crime?

Yes it is. You should apologize.

I'm sorry I refuse to conform to the standards and expectations of others.
Now if you'll excuse me I need to go file off the serial numbers of these firearms I'm going to sell.

Not everyone likes video game golf enough to warrant a purchase of a stand-alone game.

I still hope for a disc golf game in Wii Sports Resort.  I think it is the most natural and awesome inclusion you can make in the game.

If Nintendo doesn't do it...SOME DEVELOPER should.  Wii Ware anyone?

Disc Golf is already included in Tiger Woods 10.

Wait, really???  Seriously?  That is freaking awesome!!!!

Now, I really don't see how having new versions of our favorite Wii Sports games on Wii Sports resort is a bad thing.  I would be happy if they had 100% remakes of all the games from Wii Sports, as long as we still get new games.

Wii Sports Resort should have around 10-12 Sports games fleshed out if they are going to sell it at full price.  Now some of those games can be remakes and I am fine with that.

Seeing a better Golf, and Playing a great Table Tennis game just makes me happy.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 19, 2009

Wii Sports Resort has a decapitation simulator.

That title is already a winner and fun for the whole family.

No wonder people say that the "casuals" are ruining gaming.

That's the first time I have ever said something of the such. My stomach hurts.

vuduMay 20, 2009

I don't understand your argument.  I don't like golf.  I don't like video game golf.  I'm not going to spend $50 for a Tiger Woods game that I wouldn't play.

But I had enough fun with Wii Sport Golf where I would like to see an update with Motion+.  Isn't this a fair request?

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 20, 2009

This is the end of Mario Golf as we know it.

It isn't an argument, I was being facetious with my comment. Some people say that these "minigame collections" are ruining gaming because soon there will be only simplified sports in compilations like this instead of having full-blown versions of them (though I think there's not much basis for this...). But, yeah, this game doesn't really appeal to me so it doesn't really matter what ends up in it as I doubt I'll be buying it anytime soon.

Though I'm curious of something. If you don't like golf, and you don't like videogame golf, then why do you like Wii Sports golf? That seems a bit strange to me...

Sadly this probably is true, but when it comes to Mario games I never give up hope!

Is there a WSR discussion thread? I want to hear some more ideas as to what the other 5 games might be

I enjoyed it enough to play through the 9 holes (I think it was 9 ... haven't played it in ages) probably a half a dozen times as well as a few hours put into the challenges.  I probably spent upwards of 6 or so hours playing Wii Sports golf before I had my fill.  But even if there had been dozens of full courses I likely wouldn't have spent any more time with it.  It's not that I got my fill of the holes that there available--I just have enough of the sport in general.
