Just don't cross the streams.

Atari and Red Fly Studio recently released a new trailer for the Wii version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. It looks to be a faithful recreation of the spirit (no pun intended) of the original movie, right down to voice acting provided by the original cast.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is scheduled for release on June 16, 2009.

I wonder why you can't put your Mii as the face ? Now that would be cool

I was amazed that they got the real voices.  Bill Murray and Harold Ramis?  That's crazy.  I don't know if Dan Ackroyd is in there, though.

he should be, he is the one who wrote the game...

Lindy, I am surprised you weren't aware of that. As jakeOSX partially explained, it was Aykroyd and Ramis (the writers of both movies) actually wrote the story and script for the game and have stated that the game can be considered Ghostbusters 3 (not that proposed move for next year). The only cast members not returning are Rick Moranis (who is retired from acting and said he wasn't interested in coming out of retirement for the game) and Sigourney Weaver (who did say she was interested in reprising her role, but by the time she decided on that the developers had moved on and replaced her character).

i remember hearing that Murray wasn't sure if he wanted to be part of the project, but that was when this game was still rumoured.  Now that he's confirmed for this then COUNT ME IN!

That trailer made me so giddy!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. This game is going to be fun.
The funny thing is I can't decide which version to get, Wii or PS3/360. lol and believe me, or not, I am thinking in getting both versions. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

*shrugs*

Not as geekily-awesome as that Intro Cinematic trailer on gametrailers for the PS3/360 version (which deserves an award for utter nostalgia pandering), but still well-done.  The trailer makes the controls look intriguing...but then again, so did the trailer for Alone in the Dark on Wii and we all know how that turned out.

Doesn't the wii version have an exclusive multiplayer mode

I was never a huge fan of the movie (I like it but I'm not in like with it) but the more I hear about this game the more interested I am. I was especially intrigued when the Listen Up podcast crew liked the Wii version better than the 360/PS3 one.

Does anyone else? I remember when the news first broke that the Wii version would be more cartoon-like in graphics* while the HD systems had more truer to life versions of the cast, the Wii version would also include some sort of multiplayer.. i don't remember if it was 4p split-screen or 2p co-op or not though, blah!

*incidentaly, in an interview blurb i read over on gonintendo, Dan Akroyd says he likes the way he (and everyone else) looks on the Wii version the best saying something along the lines of "they make me look like a character out of The Incredibles, and anyone that looks like an incredible is just plain cool in my book!"

In all fairness, Ghostbusters has never really been known for cutting-edge special effects.  The ghost effects in movies 1 and 2 are pretty cheesy, though quite loveable.

That perhaps didn't come out quite right.  I'm not terribly fond of the art direction of the Wii version (necessary though it may be), but it does look appropriately corny for a Ghostbusters movie.  Hence why I can see Akroyd liking it.

Bustin' makes me feel good.  I'll never get tired of that song.

Personally, I like the Wii version's look better.  I'll take The Real Ghostbusters over a bunch of mannequins any day.
