Aussie Animal Crossing for Wii Can't Link to Wild World

US region coding of Wild World is to blame.

Recently many Australian Wii owners have complained over an apparent glitch that prevents them from importing their Animal Crossing: Wild World character into the newly released, Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City.

The cause of the issue was discovered to be a region mismatch. Australian copies of Wild World were in fact identical to the American release, including region coding. As a result, Let's Go to the City does not recognize the game on import.

Nintendo has yet to comment on the issue.

It's basically a useless feature, but you think they would have at least checked it out.

and yet still took a month to be repackaged....

Why is a Wii game checking the region coding of a DS game, anyway? The DS, like all other Nintendo portables, is not region-locked. This breaks that promise. If I buy Wild World in the UK on a vacation, I should be able to link it to my US copy of the Wii game.

yet another reason why this new animal crossing sucks

Um... Nintendo products ARE region locked. Sorry, but Sony actually gets points for leaving the PS3 open.

No. The Wii is region locked. Not the DS. Where I buy my DS game is not supposed to be an issue.

I'm not sure why you're trying to make me look like some anti-Sony Wii owner. I have a PS3.

So in other words, something is "just nawt roit" with the Australian version of AC.

(Sorry, I've been holding onto that one since the last Radio Trivia-congratulations if you got the joke)

If I understand this correctly, when you say region locked, you mean the Wii disc is meant for an Ausisie Wii, but it's expecting a US DS game. Weird.

No, it's expecting an Australian DS game, but they sold a repackaged US version in Australia.

Aussies should've cried 'foul' once they saw the spelling of "color".

I thought Mom was the name of a random villager.. but all along it's been my mum!

That's pretty shabby all round.

Youngplumber is right btw. It really should work regardless of regional coding in the DS game.
