A Wii sequel to the cult hit has been unveiled by Marvelous Entertainment at the Tokyo Game Show.

Marvelous Entertainment has announced No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, a sequel to Suda 51's cult hit for Wii. The same team and designers responsible for the first No More Heroes have returned for the second, meaning Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture will remain in full control of the story and characters.

Not much is currently known about the game other than the fact that it is once again being made exclusively for Wii and will focus on the exploits of Travis Touchdown. Desperate Struggle will feature Travis fighting for revenge with a more serious attitude than was shown in the original.

Marvelous Entertainment has also revealed that the game is scheduled for a January 2010 release in America and a February/March 2010 release in Europe, with no word yet on a launch date for Japan.

Thanks to Bill Aurion in the forums for the information!

There's a trailer, it's not so great- but it's better than nothing. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41032.html
Great news!

You think the trailer is not so great?

I liked it, if only for the fact that Travis is the embodiment of awesomness!

This is great news and its only about a year away, even better news!!

Well, it doesn't have any game footage- it's mostly a teaser BUT I ain't complaining, I'm glad a sequel is in the works.

The trailer is bloody awesome for the music alone!  That and the already-awesome new assassin (w/ crotch sword)... :cool;

KDR_11kOctober 09, 2008

Crotch sword is nice but clichee. Nothing compared to KNIFE EYE ATTACK!

NinGurl69 *hugglesOctober 09, 2008

That's not a sword.

pyrokamileonOctober 09, 2008

Sweeeet!  Can't wait!  Ok now I need to go back and finish the first one!

This is a huge surprise.  I thought the first one sold poorly?  And story-wise, a sequel doesn't make any sense, but neither did the first game for that matter.  I'll look forward to it if the city/world is vastly improved and there's more variety in the gameplay.  MotionPlus could make it feel quite different.

The first one was Grasshopper Manufacture's best-selling game ever.

GoldenPhoenixOctober 09, 2008

When you have a budget rivaling that of Carnival Games, you can get away with less units sold.

Seriously the game has sold around 300k worldwide which isn't bad.

EasyCureOctober 09, 2008

lets hope word of mouth and pricedrops of the original game let more people experience the awesomeness that is NMH so they're more people who pick up the sequel.. so we can get a third game in the series :-D

Well, a possible angle is Travis getting revenge on Sylvia. She made a ton of money exploiting Travis's deep desire for revenge. Travis scours around for payback. Another could be exploring the story with Travis's brother.

Whatever it is, trust Suda and co. to be completely unpredictable.

no word yet on a launch date for Japan.

Hopefully they'll play it smart and not release it close to the next "Wii ". I still remember the story of him in a store waiting to sign copies NMH, yet no one showed up. Wii Fit was just too powerful...

1. exactly why i expect the sequel to have almost nothing to do with any of the crazy story from the first game.

2. well Europe is getting two versions of the game, one gimped like the first they got, and one that retains the violence. Perhaps japan will only see a release of the censored version there, or not at all if it sold that poorly..

Travis will take revenge on his cat or his dad.

I think the ability to shoot poison you processed from food you ingest is a better eye ability, personally.

I still haven't finished the first one yet (will be getting to that very soon) but from what I've seen so far all I ask of them for the sequel is that they polish it up more.  I love so much about the first one all I really remember negatively is the slowdown...

NinGurl69 *hugglesOctober 11, 2008

If you haven't finished it, then there's still much more to love.
