Monolith’s release pushed back to "increase the quality" of the title.

Nintendo announced on their Japanese website that, despite the fact that it just received a Japanese release date in April, Disaster: Day of Crisis has been delayed yet again. The title, which had been scheduled for a July 3, 2008 release in Japan, was originally revealed at E3 2006. While no specifics on the delay were offered, Nintendo said in a statement that the delay was to "increase the quality of the finished product." No new release date has been offered.

The effect of the delay outside of Japan is hard to judge. No other region has received a release date for Disaster: Day of Crisis since its initial delay back in 2007.

For more information on Disaster: Day of Crisis, check out our preview that we posted in April.

Disaster: Day of Delay

ahh dam

RhoqJune 02, 2008

If this game ever sees the light of day, my gut feeling tells me that it's going to suck. Increase the quality" indeed.

NinGurl69 *hugglesJune 02, 2008

Disaster is the new Geist.

DAaaMan64June 02, 2008

Oh at least then it'll be good

NinGurl69 *hugglesJune 02, 2008

2012 confirmed.

It'll be at more E3s than Eternal Darkness was.

DAaaMan64June 02, 2008

I actually like Eternal Darkness.

PRO-TIP: Don't make an acronym of Eternal Darkness

KDR_11kJune 02, 2008

I think most people here like ED, that was not the point.

UltimatePartyBearJune 02, 2008

Bob Dole doesn't like ED.

This makes me less interested in the game.  I know "a delayed game is eventually good" and all that jazz, but in practice it usually turns out more like, "A delayed game is eventually released with dated graphics and major gameplay flaws."

It works when Miyamoto does it. I think everyone else just half-asses it when they delay a game to fix things and make improvements, so maybe having Nintendo in charge can make it work.

ShyGuyJune 02, 2008

Don't stop believin' hold on to that feeeeeeling

KDR_11kJune 03, 2008

The difference is that when Miyamoto delays a game he found a way to improve it, when someone else delays a game it's often because it just wasn't done in time.

Tuxedo.BondJune 04, 2008

This either means that Nintendo's standards for this game are high, or that it's really sucking. Both maybe?

DAaaMan64June 04, 2008

both

animecyberratJune 04, 2008

They delayed it so they can finish up Project HAMMER and have them both come out the same day. Believe.

KDR_11kJune 04, 2008

They gave it to a tester, five minutes later he was jailed for assaulting the lead developer so they decided to increase the quality a bit. :P

Escape From Bug Island pt2.

Escape From Bug Island pt2.

No way.  Escape From Bug Island seems like a documentary compared to the plot of Disaster.

Big bugs are more logical than a terrorist with a nuke happening to be around the same time as a volcano erupts, a hurricane storms in, a bear attacks some guy, tsunamis... and some kid gets kidnapped.

I mean, good lord.  That's a crappy day.

A bad day in LA?

Iwata said the bear fighting isn't awesome enough. The tester retorted that they didn't know how a real bearfight works, so Iwata dropped them all in the Arctic and told them to not come back until they knew.

I can't wait to read that Iwata Asks.

KDR_11kJune 04, 2008

I hope Iwata asks Ubisoft "WTF are you doing???"
