The Japan-exclusive music game will see a whopping 31-song expansion pack next month.

About a month and a half ago, visitors to the Band Bros. game page were informed that an expansion to the music game was in the works, and Nintendo wanted some input as to which songs they should include for it. Details on the expansion were to be announced at a later date.

That later date has arrived. On September 26, Nintendo will make the Band Bros. Expansion Cartridge available for purchase exclusively through their online store, for the low price of ¥2,530, plus a ¥450 shipping charge (around $27 in total). The expansion will contain 22 songs from various artists from Japan, as well as 9 songs from Nintendo's library of games, for a total of 31 new songs. For comparision's sake, the full version of Band Bros. has 39 songs, and retails for ¥4,800.

The videogame music in the expansion includes four songs already available in sheet form on Nintendo's Band Brothers page: Ashley's theme from Wario Ware Touched!, the Slide music from Super Mario 64, and music from Yoshi's Touch 'n Go and the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. Joining in on the musical fray include the Star Wolf theme in Star Fox 64 and the the title themes to Animal Forest+ and Yoshi's Island, just to name a few.

Other than the music included in the game, this expansion is a noteworthy one because it marks the first time the GBA slot on the DS unit is being used specifically for a DS game. The expansion will come in the form of a GBA cartridge, and it must be inserted at the same time as the Band Bros. DS game for it to work correctly.

If you want to see the song list for yourself, hop over to the Band Bros. page. (Warning: It's all in Japanese!) You might want to check out our import partners at Lik-Sang if you're interested picking up the expansion or full version, since a US release of either is seeming less and less likely every week.

I love DKonga, Frequency/Amplitude and Rez, pretty much all the non-DDR music games. For this reason I have been uber excited for Band Bros, and extremely hopefull for a US translation. But, had this title been all but confirmed as Japan only? I'm trying to decide if I should hold out a bit longer, or if its arrival is so unlikley that I should just import.

BTW, one of the biggest reasons I wanted this game, was becase of the multiplayer mode. Does anyone know if the game has single card multi-play?

Awesome, pity I don't live in Japan or speak Japanese.

The article mentions a US release getting less and less likely. Is there any chance the game would come here? I want this game enough to import it, but i would be willing to wait a while for a US version.

It's got 8-player single card =D

I really really REALLY want this, but I know I'll never get it. I've got about $600-$700 worth of other games I want to buy, and I'm currently about $40 in the red with no income. NOT GOOD..
