Peter Molyneux Comments on Revolution

The top man at Lionhead Studios has seen the controller, and can only say one thing about it...

Peter Molyneux and Lionhead studios have been busy putting together games coming to Nintendo systems. The Movies is scheduled for a GameCube release in November, and the DS version of the studio's most famous PC creation, the God game Black & White, will be out early next year.

Molyneux was present at the German Games Confrence, which is finishing up this weekend. He was asked of the Revolution during an interview, specifically of the mysterious controller. Here's what he had to say:

There is a line at the end of the book 'Game Over' and it is, 'Never underestimate Nintendo.' That is all I can say about the controller.

These are very encouraging words for those still worried about Nintendo's silence on Revolution. This quote at least confirms that some third parties have seen the hardware, and it seems they are positive about it.

Nintendo is next appear at the Tokyo Game Show in September, where new Revolution information of some form is expected to be announced.

Nintendo hasn't been around for more than a hundred years because they're stupid. face-icon-small-happy.gif

I'm getting really excited about the Rev because it's going to be Nintendo's first home console that Yamauchi didn't have a hand in. Not to disparage the man too much, but I think that Nintendo's hyper-conservative business tactics were primarily his. I still expect Nintendo to be conservative, but not to the crippling extent it used to be.

Show us your stuff, Iwata-san!

As oposed to the alter quote from another diminsion. "There is a line at the end of the book 'Game Over' and it is, 'Underestimate Nintendo.' Their dead. That is all I can say about the controller.

Trust me, had he said this, I would be crying face-icon-small-sad.gif........

As has already been stated in the Revolution section, the same guy had interviewed Naka, who had equally promising praise towards the controller...

King of TwitchAugust 21, 2005

Sort of an understatement if it's truly a revolutionary controller, and it doesn't exactly imply that he's seen it.

"Nintendo hasn't been around for more than a hundred years because they're stupid. "

no they been make fun since 1800's and thats two hundred yearsface-icon-small-smile.gif and per japan taking over the world.

The OmenAugust 21, 2005

Has this guy who is running the blog that every site is sourcing(then sourcing each other), has it been proven he's for real?

I'd certainly like to see this quote independently verified, but Mr. Cube has been a reliable source since the GC first launched in Japan.

Karl Castaneda #2August 21, 2005

He's been able to provide photos for each interview that he claims, so I'm inclinded to believe he's legit.

Doesn't Nintendo typically snub the Tokyo Game Show?

Karl Castaneda #2August 21, 2005

This is true, but Iwata is scheduled to make a speech.

MarioAugust 21, 2005

I don't think a photo of the guy proves that he said it.

CaillanAugust 21, 2005

As Jonny said, this guy has been a reliable reporter for quite some time. He knows that by faking this, he'll lose a lot of page views in the long run. There really is no good reason for him to be making this up.

More like ~1885 (give or take a few years). Still closer to one century than two.

Well he works on a tv news show called RTL II in Germany

with a website that is located HERE

and I even have his e-mail address

I am not gonna post it here, look on his blog for it face-icon-small-wink.gif

he seems legit to me, and he also said that he would try and get some snippets of the interviews up sometime after friday (when he gets back to the office)

KDR_11kAugust 21, 2005

RTL 2? The boobie station? They run mostly reality TV and anything that involves women with exposed breasts.

And what wrong with that? But he says they also do a specialized news piece(or something like that) on the weekends. He just had a piece about some Visor that hooks up to the PC.

Spak-SpangAugust 22, 2005

I have been reading his site for some time. He is actively trying to disprove fake websites, and he tries very hard to report solid news, and provide legit proof of his sources.

I have only seen him write like one or two editorials with speculation within his writing.

I think he is pretty accurate and legit...though I also think he is getting alittle too excited about a possible Visor now.

Perhaps being surrounded by the junk rumors so long makes you start wishing and start believing in the impossible.

couchmonkeyAugust 22, 2005

This is a nice comment to hear, but a lot of developers were really high on GameCube when it was coming out and while I love my Cube very much, those nice comments from developers didn't translate into actual games...that's what I really want.

CaillanAugust 23, 2005

It's worth noting that the last two posts on his blog have just disappeared. They were the two exclusives he had, of Yuji Naka and Molyneux respectively, praising the Revolution's controller. I know I've already backed him up here, but this is indeed very strange.

EDIT: He said that he worked for a TV station and so I guess it's possible that his employer asked him to take the quotes down until they've been played on air. That's still a pretty farfetched excuse though.

^ well this is stranges but it's most likely real since every big gaming site has put it on their site
