The third game in the series is ready for its DS debut.

Ubisoft announced today that Splinter Cell Chaos Theory for Nintendo DS has gone gold. The game has already been released on many other platforms, including GameCube. The DS version is patterned closely after the console versions, right down to the gritty 3D graphics. However, the DS version has far more extensive multiplayer features than the GameCube version, which lacks the popular online mode found in the Xbox and PS2 versions.

Other features, straight from Ubisoft:

- All the new moves and gadgets of the console versions released in March 2005, but with the addition of the exclusive SWAT TURN

- The Touch Screen technology allows players to manage the inventory, choose between three vision modes and maneuver the camera

- The Wireless Communication of the Nintendo DS will be intensely used for the multiplayer modes:

- Cooperative mode for two players with five levels to explore. Each player can choose between two Shadownet expertises: Assault or Hacker

- Versus mode for two to four players with seven maps available. The Versus mode places you in a war of Shadownet Spies against Argus Mercenaries. While Spies try to hack computer devices to steal important information, Mercenaries must patrol and guard these stations.

Chaos Theory for DS is scheduled to hit U.S. stores on June 28.

Wise move Ubi, sneaking the title in before all the really great DS stuff starts hitting later this year. Of course if the game's halfway decent they might've been better off waiting and making it one of the titles when Nintendo launches online later in the year.

Incidentally, should DS titles really "go gold"? face-icon-small-smile.gif

I didn't like this game on any other systems so I know I won't like it here. I still think it's a port of the ngage version. but it is good to see the system getting more games.

Both versions look entirely too different to be an N-gage port.

They forgot the boast about the touch screen being used in INTENSE SITUATIONS.
"CUT THE CORRECT WIRE TO WIN THIS MISSION"
"But what if the correct wire? Augh my brain!"
*Hurls DS out window*
