NCL has just released a new video for the game, and it sure looks pretty.

It's the game that Nintendo-loving strategy fans have been waiting for. Fire Emblem for the GameCube will be released in Japan on April 20, but Nintendo knows that no one can wait that long. Thankfully, they've released a new video showing off some of the goods.

The game is still scheduled here in the States to show up around E3 time, but we'll probably need to wait until then to find out when exactly this one will be released.

Holy crap! IS has been working overtime on this gem! Not bad for their first "true 3d" game...Not bad at all!

couchmonkeyMarch 24, 2005

Now see, this is the kind of game the Cube could really use...like three years ago! Still, this is shaping up to possibly be the GameCube's greatest year ever, and for that I'm very grateful. Go Nintendo!

Ian SaneMarch 24, 2005

WOW! I remember when they first showed shots of this game I thought they looked pretty poor. Good to see that they've been hard at work.

I agree with couchmonkey. Why didn't we get this years ago? This, RE4, and the new Zelda could have changed the Cube's placement in the console wars if they were released towards the beginning of the console's life. It's like Nintendo released all their experimental titles that required an open mind to like (Luigi's Mansion as the flagship title, Super Mario Sunshine, cel-shaded Zelda) early on and now, when the Cube's last place position is set in stone, all the cool mature games are being released. You're supposed to release the mainstream friendly titles FIRST and the niche wacko titles later.

IS is Nintendo's ultimate developer. They never seen to release a bad game and unlike EAD they're cool. They make Metroid, Advance Wars, and Fire Emblem. All of those have Nintendo quality gameplay and non-realistic visuals but have a style, that although family friendly, doesn't come across as childish. Even Paper Mario looks more surreal and arty while EAD's Mario looks like he walked off the set of Sesame Street. IS should be Nintendo's main focus instead of EAD. IS has found that balance where they can make great games that are also cool while not compromising creativity or artistic design.

If I didn't like SRPGs about as much as tactical realism FPSes or stealth games I would be sold on that now.

CHENMarch 24, 2005

Yeah, I don't think Fire Emblem has the same selling value as names such as Resident Evil and Zelda. This is a niché genre outside Japan whether you agree or disagree. It's fantastic that we're getting it, but don't expect this kind of game to do great sales-wise, even if it was released earlier. Then the game wouldn't even be able to take advantage of the Fire Emblem released for the GBA. Yes, Intelligent Systems were quite busy the past year with Paper Mario 2, a new Fire Emblem for the GBA and Wario Ware Touched. And now this and Advance Wars DS. It's a small dev team, but they crank out most excellent games pretty fast. I say give them a break and soil your pants. YES! MY PANTS! IT IS SOILED!

PaLaDiNMarch 24, 2005

What are you guys talking about? Game looks exactly the same to me.

Still buying it.

Don'tHate742March 24, 2005

If this plays like the GBA game, it should be a game that pleases. All I need now, are different attack sewuences, and longer fight scenes.

Koopa TroopaMarch 24, 2005

:face-icon-small-happy.gifrool:: I can't WAIT for this one. Hopefully I won't be working 60hr weeks when it comes out, I'll need to devote plenty of time to this puppy.

CHENMarch 24, 2005

God, I hope you don't mean Knights of the Round kind of long.

Don'tHate742March 24, 2005

This E3 is going to be absolutely NUTZ!

I say that every year, but this year, it really will be.........and I think everyone will agree.

CalibanMarch 24, 2005

Game looks great. Definitely another great addition to the very few GC rpgs available. Hoping it has like 80 hours of gameplay.

Sol Bad-GuyMarch 24, 2005

Ahem, pardon me for a second.

DEAR GOD THIS GAME IS SO DAMN HOT I CANT EVEN PUT IT TO WORDS OH MAN I'M GOING TO CRAP MY PANTS AT E3!!

There. Seriously, I dont care if it's a niche game, I love Fire Emblem just as much as Zelda, if not more. The artwork in this game is immaculate. I'll be buying this the second it comes out.

WuTangTurtleMarch 24, 2005

This is E3 will truyly be wicked, i can't wait to head over the Ninty booth, I think im gonna have to make a game plan for myself.......something like day 1: Zelda, day 2: DS games, Day 3: everything else. I think im going to piss alot of ppl off if i play Zelda all day long but wtf are they gonna do to me, hmmmmm just in case i'll try not to draw too much attention to myself.

More cats. Anyone else see the person that turns into a cat?

UrkelMarch 24, 2005

I hate to burst everyone's bubble here, but you do know that those cutscenes are FMV, right?
Right?

I mean, the graphics have improved quite a lot since first shown, but not by THAT much.

Bloodworth: From what I gather from all the screenshots I've seen, it appears that some characters can turn into animals. One guy turns into a wolf. Neat.

The cut scenes are when it shows the characters talking to each other, as for an example of showing tiamat ( the red haired female Social Knight) is talking to the group in the town and then they start to run off :/

The yellow cat was known for a while along with the other blue cat, the cats come from a race that seeming to be located on the western side of the map that was shown around a couple of weeks back.

I'm definitely talking about in-game goodness...The animation is now fluid and the visuals at a point where I just don't care anymore... face-icon-small-thumbsup.gif

Yeah, I noticed the cats. Nintendo has a sudden fondness for them, it seems. I'm sure we'll be seeing HALcats or something soon.

Don'tHate742March 25, 2005

More like HELL CATS....or were you implying that?

NinGurl69 *hugglesMarch 25, 2005

More catgirls, plz.
