EA SPORTS FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 2 SHIPS TO RETAILERS NATIONWIDE

Step Into the Ring with the Highly Anticipated Sequel to the Boxing Videogame that Critics Have Hailed as 2004’s Sports Game of the Year

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – March 1, 2005 – Get ready to feel the power of the punch! Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that EA SPORTS™ Fight Night Round 2 has shipped to retailers nationwide. The sequel to EA SPORTS Fight Night 2004, named sports game of the year by IGNPS2, Official Xbox Magazine and Play Magazine, will knock gamers off their feet with jaw-dropping graphics and innovative gameplay inside and outside of the ring.

Packing in stunning graphics and exciting new gameplay features, players now have the ability to control the power and speed of their punch via the new EA SPORTS™ Haymaker punch mechanic. Utilizing the innovative analog Total Punch Control feature introduced in last year’s hit game, players can now add extra power to each punch for that satisfying one-punch knockout or increase damage on their opponents with each devastating hit. Taking the excitement and intensity of the game to the next round, fighting and boxing fans will truly feel the impact of their punches as they unleash fearsome blows to their opponents.

Also new to the series is a unique create-a-champ option, an extensive career mode and the EA SPORTS™ Cutman. Instead of the typical non-interactive cut-scene between rounds, players can take control of the corner cutman and use his tools to reduce swelling and damage on their boxer’s face. Gamers can also take the match online* and duke it out with friends across the country with Xbox Live™ and PlayStation®2 online. For Nintendo GameCube™ fans, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 2 will include the classic boxing title, Super Punch-Out!!™.

Developed by EA Chicago, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 2 is available for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Xbox® video game system from Microsoft and the Nintendo GameCube. The game is rated “T” (Teen) by the ESRB and has an MSRP of $49.99. The game’s official website is www.fightnightround2.com. Screenshots can be found at http://info.ea.com

Would have been fun to have Little Mac fighting Tyson.

I don't think anyone expects or even wants Mike Tyson to be in these games anymore.

Are you kidding? One of boxing's controversial fighters of our generation? C'mon, it would've been so funny if they included him. Hell, I'm willing to bet they'll be tons templates for its Create-a-boxer on the web when the game comes out.

As far as Foreman, De La Hoya, etc (They're missing Lennox Lewis, and he basically schooled Holyfield), I remember reading an interview at Gamespot, where EA said "While we have the utmost respect for , we wanted to keep a more recent roster and include some up-and-coming boxers." That's what they said more or less, so don't shoot the paraphraser.

I mean that is a nice list of seriod using boxers, but why not a real champion?
