Rare updates their site, announcing that all four of their Game Boy Advance games have been released by THQ.

After being announced at Spaceworld in 2001 (remember Spaceworld?), all four of Rare's Game Boy Advance games have finally been released. After a small hiccup (like being purchased by Microsoft), Rare's GBA game Banjo Pilot is set for release this week (with some gamers already reporting it in stores). It's Mr. Pants! was released last year at the start of December.

Rare hints that their handheld department is working dilligently on another project, with this typically cryptic statement:

So, what now? What's next for Rare on the handheld scene, and what's our dedicated team plugging away at in the background as we speak? Well, far be it from us to keep a secret. What we'll actually be doing is -

One thing's for sure - Rare sure knows how to get that rumour mill grinding away without any trouble.

Whats next? What else?

DKC3 with added brightness...

I'm sure Microsoft will eventually want to get into the handheld market. I will have to guess that Rare will be developing for the DS.

I'd buy Perfect Dark DS.

Rare will never make another video game.

GamefreakJanuary 15, 2005

Well I highly doubt Rare would touch PSP, and Rare is usually on top of the technology, so it must be for DS.

Rare needs to boast about it's games being out. Afterall how many have actually been released for X-Box so far? 2 or 3? It's beginning to look like Nintendo got the better end of the deal here, heh.

Try 1: Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Everything else has been delayed.

The big wigs at the big N must be having a grand old time. They get rid of some dead weight, but yet they still get some residual profit! Now if that isn't funny, I don't know what is.

Meanwhile, Kameo, Konker, and Perfect Dark are nowhere to be found. With Perfect Dark most likely to come to XboX2, Kameo and Konker are waiting in the wings. Will they be worth the wait? Or will they be lost in the shuffle in the 'Box library?

Rare on the DS would be even funnier. Whereas THQ picked up the publishing rights on games that were left on the shelf, Rare would be working on fresh material for the DS. A Microsoft company making games for its competitor! Will they allow it?

Infernal MonkeyJanuary 16, 2005

Perfect Dark Zero will be crushed by 'Halo 2: Oops, here's the stuff we cut out' for Xbox 2. You know, I haven't been impressed with anything Rare's released this generation. I'll probably get around to buying a copy of SFA one day, but I've just never felt the urge to play through it. I got tired of collect-everything-for-demented-reasons games after DK64. Their GBA games have pretty much been all crap (Banjo on GBA was like cancer in a cartridge).

What was this thread about again? tpg.gif Oh. If they port Blast Corps to DS, that'd be hot sex.

Anyone think it's coincidental that Rare has sucked since leaving Nintendo? Gee I wonder why? Haha...their games were pretty darn good before my post is a train wreck got a hold of them and now look...only average at best. Poor Rare.

Doesn't give a rat's ass. Someone had to say it.

The point is, MS distinguishes the handheld and console markets, and does not see the GBA as competition. I can't imagine them not saying the same about the DS.

Actually, Star Fox Adventures was boring and a game I fully regret buying. I think Nintendo saw that Rare was still up to their usual delays, but now that the talent had left they weren't worth keeping at all. Still, I wish Nintendo would have kept the KI franchise, I always loved Fulgore and the gang as they were interesting characters that I would like to see back.

starfox is a piece of garbage. Its an uninspired rehash of old rare games. Rare is fresh out of good ideas. Look at what they create when they try something new...Grabbed by the Ghoulies anyone. Instead of releasing these pieces of crap they call games they could just make a sequel to jet force gemini or remake perfect Dark(i dont think they have the talent to make a sequel). Does anybody know if its legal for them to release a port of goldeneye. Any PGC staff know. EA owns the rights to the bond universe so im wondering if rare can release it.
