There're tons of goodies awaiting.

Nintendo has recently updated their web page for Super Mario 64 DS. The site is now fully available and it loaded with tons of information on the game. Each of the four characters (Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi) has a profile detailing their special moves, attributes, and minigames. There are tons of movies that show off each of these character features. Some of these videos showcase brand new abilities and areas. Also included is a video of a four-player match, which looks like a ton of fun.

There are three wallpapers hidden on the website, and they can be found by clicking on the DS buttons on certain pages.

Surprised I'm the first to comment on this.

I love the new levels. The new snow level looks very obstacle course-esque, which I think is nice. So far that means we have two confirmed new levels.

And the new abilities, not to mention the modified pastel-esque textures, this is shaping up to be a remix as much as a remake, and a "special edition"!

I just hope there's at least a third new level in there. 150 Stars = 120 + (3 x 7 = 21 + 9 additional stars?) Better yet, a fourth.

I'm surprised there aren't more replies too! SM64 DS is shaping up to be an amazing remake of one of the best platformers ever created! It is obvious Nintendo put alot of work in this title, and I bet even veterans of the original will find a fresh experience within this title!

Those videos are very cool, and I noticed alot of differences in this game than the original. The website is great easy to manuever through the pages, and the little drawing game was fun to play around with.

Great website.

The site is not bad, it does leave me worried that the game is going to require too much backtracking to change characters a la DK64. Only Wario can turn into metal, only Mario can fly, etc. Still, I'm definitely excited about this game. I'm not picking up a DS until next year, but this will be included when I buy one.

CouchMonkey: Do not worry. The game has a clever device to where you won't need to backtrack.

If you choice Yoshi as your character (Possible any character) you can find hats in each level that will change you into such character until you get hit by an enemy. Then you just need to find that hat again.

Its an interesting compromise. Certain characters will be better for certain levels and you can definately switch and play the entire level with one character. But if you are on a character specific goal then atleast you can find a star that allows you become that character.

I am very excited, because each character seems to have very unique special moves, and play experiences, that will enhance the game without breaking the game.

This game looks so good in motion...I can't wait to play it(AS YOSHI! =D)

Damn straight. Yoshi's going to be the man (or girl, whatever it is) in this one. I hope he has his noises from Smash Bros. or something. But this game does look great in motion. It's making my roommate want one even more now....and he doesn't even like portable gaming!

This site just makes me wish the game was completely original. It looks like they put a lot of effort into making four characters and adding a lot of new stuff. It's a shame that they went to all that effort for a re-release when they could have used that effort for a new game. It also makes me wish I could play the new levels with the N64 controller. Much like most of the GBA ports this just isn't going to play as well as the original because of control limitations.

It still looks like it will be a lot of fun if you don't mind playing Super Mario 64 yet again and the touchscreen control turns out alright.

Am I the only one who noticed that the web page was made for Nintento, as opposed to Nintendo?

Boy, am I nitpicky. Other that that little thing, this is one of the best Nintendo web site designs I remember ever seeing.

EDIT: Never mind, they fixed it. Not that anyone cared but me.

This website is awesome!

(The thing in the top right is supposed to be a smiley face)

Very cool. Turns out I may have to get this game after all.
