This jumbo mailbag includes: piracy, Naruto, Battalion multiplayer, XD, NPCB, BAR, and Odama.
So, Nintendo says that they're so big on cracking down on piracy. But how
come they don't do anything about all the pirate GBA games on ebay? No one
in their right mind would actually buy one from there now because the vast
majority of them are fakes. And Ebay does nothing about it, even though
some of them are very obviously pirated. I and I'm sure lots of other
people report them but nothing gets done. I'm amazed Nintendo continually
turns a blind eye to such a situation.
Nintendo seems more interested in prosecuting mass quantity producers and resellers of pirated goods. One problem with going after individual resellers on eBay is that even if the product could conclusively be determined to be illicit, the seller might not even know that it's a pirated game.
Hey, I have a question that I know many import gamers
really want to know the answer to, I was wondering if
you guys have heard any news at all of Naruto: Gekitou
Ninja Taisen 4? Because number 3 is freakn awesome,
everyone thinks its the greatest multiplayer game ever
created(by everyone I mean people who come over and
actually play it), so I was hoping maybe you guys
heard something about it? Also a mailbag everyday is
the best idea ever! Thanks a lot for your time, peace!
I haven't heard anything, but all three Naruto games for GameCube have been huge sellers in Japan. The recent handheld Naruto RPG is one of the top selling DS games in Japan, too. So I'm sure we'll see more Naruto games for Nintendo systems in the future. Will the next one be on GameCube or Revolution? We'll have to wait and see.
Everywhere i read about battalion wars the player amount either
varies or says undecided, so i went to nintendo's main page and it too
says TBA. Any idea or word from anyone on the possiblities of LAN of
some sort or at least split screen? It would be nice for gamecube to
go down with more than racing games with LAN capabilities.
As of E3, multiplayer was undetermined...the developers just don't know if they'll have time to add such a mode. Their focus has definitely been on making a great single-player mode. You can forget LAN though; that fad is long over, at least for GameCube.
Hey guys.
I was wondering if you knew anything about nintendo's goals and plans for E3
2006? Would you think would be the ideal booth?
Thanks for your time. Keep up the great site.
Manu
All we know for now is that Nintendo plans to have Revolution games playable at E3 2006. My Nintendo booth wishlist would have to be topped by the return of surround sound booths. They were such a respite from the chaos of the show floor.
I just have a couple of question. What is Pokemon XD? I heard it is an actual RPG, but what is the storyline? Does it still involve those dreadful "shadow" pokemon?
Kepp up the good work,
Thanks DaX
Pokemon XD does, unfortunately, still center around "shadow" Pokemon who must be snagged from other trainers and gradually returned to normal conditions. Nintendo is billing XD is a "real RPG", but from what I've seen, it's no closer to the handheld RPGs than Colosseum was. To be honest though, I haven't followed the game closely since learning that it would basically be a quick and dirty sequel to Colosseum instead of a fresh perspective on the series.
What happened to Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball? I though it was suppose to come out in August, but now the release has become unknown. Is the game dead in the water?
Thanks
--Steve
Looks like it. The game did not get a very warm reception at E3, and the delays had already pushed it way past baseball's opening day, when all the competing MLB games were released. I think Nintendo is better to delay it until next season and keep working on the game, or else just give up the idea altogether. They do need to get back into releasing non-Mario sports games to help attract other sports games (and sports gamers), but that strategy will work much better at the start of the next generation than at the end of this one.
Hey guys...thanks for all the mailbag updates!
I have a couple questions for you, the first going back to the N64 days. My
two favorite games on that system were WCW/nWo Revenge and Beetle Adventure
Racing. I believe, besides Super Mario 64, BAR was the first game I got on
the day it came out (actually I was pretty young then, so my mom bought it),
because I have a fetish for...Beetles. But anyway, I played the heck out of
that game-I loved the environments and the physics of the cars. I'm not
sure how well it did sales-wise, but I was wondering if there's any chance
that EA will make a sequel? I'm guessing not, since they've skipped a
generation with it...but I can always yearn at the possibility, right?
Thanks!
Jason M.
BAR is also one of my favorite N64 games and one of my favorite racing games ever. If you've never played this treasure, look for a used copy...they're out there. I think BAR did okay sales-wise, but it's been a long time with no news of a sequel. Seems unlikely at this point. Maybe if Volkswagen relaunches yet another version of the Beetle, they'll look to gaming for another marketing boost.
Do you have any news about Odama? Is it already out in Japan? When will it come out in north america? Any other info you know?
Thanx
Tony
Odama is taking forever to develop, probably because Nintendo isn't really supervising the game's creators very closely. Honestly, I think the game got WORSE between E3 2004 and E3 2005. The pinball physics are some of the worst I've ever seen, and the controls are a mess. I love the wacky idea, but Odama's developers need to tighten up its gameplay before the game is released.
