Sure, why not have a third mailbag before the day is done? This one covers multiple Nintendogs, Intelligent Systems, "kiddy", Perfect Dark DS, and first place.

Hello,

I have asked this question numerous times on another gaming site, but they have not given me an answer, so I am Writing you to see if you can shed some light on the subject.

I am planning on buying Nintendogs for the DS, the problem becomes that my Wife also wants to play the game. Now the tricky part she wants a pug I want the husky. Can you Have and Save more then one dog at a time on a game cart??? So we could just buy one copy and she could play with her pug and I my husky, or will we each have to have out own pack?

Please help...this is life or death as if I come home on it's release and I already have my dog running on it I won't make it 10 minutes (she's that crazy for this game).

Thanks

Justin

I'm not sure what is the maximum number of puppies on a single game card, but it's AT LEAST two, because our man Aussie Ben had two different breeds at once on his copy of the game. So you should be safe. The only catch is that you'll have to play the game for a while to earn enough virtual money to buy that second pup.

Intelligent Systems has become probably one of my favorite developers during this generation of handhelds. Aside from working on the Fire Emblem series in Japan, what else has this developer worked on?

Village Idiot

IS is also in charge of the Paper Mario, Wario Ware, and Advance Wars series, and they developed Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Super Metroid, but they aren't responsible for the Mario Kart or Metroid series in general. By the way, Moby Games is a great resource for information like this; they have an extensive database of game credits that goes right down to individual programmers and artists and even the people who get "Special Thanks", like the mysterious Mike Fukuda.

Hi, I have 2 questions about Revolution's ability to download old games. First, what companies so far have signed with Nintendo to release thier classic games also? Konami, Capcom, and the formerly known Squaresoft would be great picks. Also, someone from Nintendo talked briefly about releasing their old games with "updated visuals". Have you heard anything else about this?

Thanks

- Johnny

So far, only Nintendo has confirmed their library to be available for download, but I'm sure many other companies will be announced later. As for graphically updated classics, that comes from a recent quote from Satoru Iwata. He didn't elaborate.

A couple years ago, there was a lot of talk about how Nintendo's "kiddy"

image of isolation and exclusion was damaging to them. And there was also a

lot of talk from Nintendo about how they recognized the problem, and were

serious about fixing it. But it's been several years, and what have they

done about it? They allowed BMX XXX to be published on the Cube. They

refrained from cel-shading the latest Zelda. Is that it? Oh yeah, Retro

turned out better than expected, and they also let Silicon Knights slip

away. Considering the resources at Nintendo's disposal, I'd almost say they

haven't done a thing about their "kiddy" problem.

So I guess my question is, do you think Nintendo was ever really serious

about addressing the problem, or were they just spouting nonsense, hoping

the problem would just go away if they ignored it long enough?

And considering the hot water Rockstar's in right now because of their "hot

coffee" incident, do you think Nintendo's looking down from their high

horse, smugly satisfied that they made the right choice, because their

essentially dead-from-lack-of-support GameCube is the only console that

doesn't have Grand Theft Auto, and is therefore "safe" from being

significantly affected by this incedent.

Nintendo's lack of significant defense against the kiddy image is a result of their seeking individual, arguably token game exclusives instead of shifting their overall corporate policy. Let's face it, there are only two ways for Nintendo to seriously attract older gamers. They either need to acquire a huge M-rated game on the scale of GTA or Halo, or they need to start developing M-rated games in-house so that Nintendo fans start to buy such games, thus convincing third-parties that the environment is friendly for their own M-rated titles. I personally don't see the latter happening. Nintendo has tried to have it both ways through the second-party system, but that approach has not produced a huge hit, and it's not prolific enough to change the situation with even moderately successful games.

Hey guys!

I totally love your site, and you guys are the only people I think could get

this information for me! Now here's the question: A long time ago I was

lookin' at future releases, and stumbled upon a game called "Dark Black." I

found a website, and some pretty awesome screens, but I never found out

anything else. Apparently the game is a self titled game from a third party

developer, and I wanted to know if you guys know anything about it. Well...

Do you?

-buffguywannabe

The only information I could find was the initial game announcement, which happened back in March 2002. The developer, also called Darkblack, appears to be defunct, as they have not released a game since MTV Sports Skateboarding (GBC/PSone/DC/PC) and their website is no longer active. Sorry, the game is dead.

With the recent announcement of Rare backing the DS, do you believe we could see Perfect Dark strut her FPS stuff? And if so, (god willing) will we see it online? My mouth drools at the thought of the greatest FPS ever made travel friendly and over the net. Maybe it's just a happy dream of mine seeing as nothing other than their support has been said, but watch that one closely PGC!

Sure, it's completely possible and a lot more likely than a DS update to Goldeneye 007, which many fans have been pining for. Judging by what I've seen of Perfect Dark Zero, I'd prefer an enhanced port of the original N64 game, though.

A long time ago, someone from Nintendo confirmed that Animal Crossing 2 was

in the works. Did Animal Crossing 2 become Animal Crossing DS, did it become

Animal Crossing Revolution, was it held up in developement, or scrapped

altogether? I just haven't heard anything about it.

Also, Sega showed a trailer for a next gen Sonic game at E3 2005. I know

details on Revolution games have been scarce, but has there been any word on

whether or not it would hit the Revolution?

Do you have any comments about Nintendo's new design and feel for Nintendo

Power? I haven't read it for a while and was wondering how drastic the

change actually was.

Thanks,

Egore

I too remember the Animal Crossing 2 announcement, but I don't know whether the game was canceled or if it just moved to the DS eventually. Whether the series will see another console iteration probably depends on whether the Revolution can offer a suitable interface; most people would agree that the DS is far better suited for "communication" games than the GameCube is.

As for the next-gen Sonic, I saw that footage myself, and it was definitely the most impressive demo in Sega's booth. Nintendo's systems have become the unofficial home of Sonic this generation, so I fully expect the next-gen Sonic game to land on Revolution (and probably the other systems, too). But there's no official word on ANY Revolution game except the handful confirmed at E3: Smash Bros. Online, Metroid Prime 3, Mario, and Zelda.

The new face of Nintendo Power is a big improvement, though I have my problems with the magazine. It is pretty funny, though, to see NP finally ragging on crap games just like everyone else. The new issue has an awesome feature about the incredible longevity of Super Smash Bros. Melee, including a lot of comments from guys in the Treehouse who I've had the pleasure of playing against. They're really, really damn good at SSBM.

Hey quick question. With all this talk about who's in first place or second place or what not, what I want to know is: is Nintendo at least making money? I mean what is the big deal about being in third place if you are still making buckets of moohla? Thanks!!

Hotcubiche FD

Nintendo is definitely making money, and a lot of it. However, NCL is a publicly held company in Japan, and stockholders inevitably want their company to expand so they can make even more money. Nintendo's overall share of the market, meanwhile, has been steadily shrinking for over a decade. So yes, the company is concerned with taking over second and eventually first place, and execs (including Reggie) are on record saying so.

Whew! That's a lot of mailbagging for one day. Let's keep it rolling!
