Today's mailbag includes a way to play GBA games on the Revolution, Hunters online, Micro compatibility, DS racers, and the Triforce arcade board.

Dear, Planetgamecube

Okay, everyone's curious to know if the REV can play GBA games. I don't beleive it has a slot for the GBA player, however, there are some GBA player's the work out of the memory slot. Their 3rd party, and hard to find, however it seems like it would work on the REV. As it has a gamecube memory card slot, and it can play the start up disk. What do you guys think?

You're right, those third-party devices should work on Revolution. Unfortunately, I've heard that they are full of bugs and aren't compatible with many games. Perhaps Nintendo could create a first-party version of such a device, though.

In just about a month Metroid Prime Hunters is scheduled to release for the Nintendo DS.

If you where in control of Nintendo would you delay this game so it can include online Multiplayer or release as is? How much time do you think it takes to make a game work with online multiplayer? Finally do you think online support for this game would help hurt Nintendo’s childish image with this game?-Adolph Vega

If I were in control of Nintendo, I would rename Hunters as "Touch Screen FPS Go!" Seriously, it has jack squat to do with Metroid from what I've seen and played. And yeah, I probably would delay the game a few months to add online, but I can sort of understand that they want to get it out soon...after all, it has probably been in development longer than any other DS game.

have a few questions about the upcoming (and unnecessary, if you ask me) iteration of the Game Boy Advance....

1. Will it be compatible with peripherals like the GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable or E-Reader?

2. Will it play all previous Game Boy games, or just Game Boy Advance games?

3. Will Nintendo stick to those faceplates, or will they eventually release the Micro in other colors besides silver?

Adios, Spencer

1. Nintendo has been pretty silent on this matter, but I recently heard that they might release a dongle-type adaptor to convert from the Micro's tiny link port to the standard GBA port. I'm not sure if I believe that report, because a dongle solution probably still wouldn't enable the use of the GC-GBA link cable or the e-Reader, since the former has to snap on and the latter has to plug into the cartridge slot and may not fit the Micro as conveniently as it does the SP.

2. It plays all Game Boy games. I think I remember one of the NOA execs at E3 (who all had Micros hanging around their necks) playing an old GB game on the Micro.

3. Nintendo hasn't announced any details of the Micro launch. At E3, there were multiple colors in addition to the various faceplates, so for instance they had a black Micro with a silver faceplate. I doubt more than a few system colors, if that many, will be available at launch.

hey, keep up the frequent mailbags they rock. Ridge

racer DS, Asfault GT DS and NFS underground DS...which

is the best one? I had lot of fun with RR64 in its day

but it has such a bad rep on the DS. Opinions of

Asfault GT vary from it being a great console racer in

the palm of your hands to it being a pathetic attempt

at a game. Finally NFS underground is made by EA and

sucks by default. Help me out, which racer is best?

The Sonic Gem collection has been pretty quiet for

somehting with such high demand, for years we've all

been begging for a sonic cd rerelease as it is the

best 2d sonic. Do you know what other games come with

the package besides sonic cd and sonic R?

There are no good racing games for DS yet. Try Racing Gears Advance or even Karnaaj Rally, both for GBA, both good games that will play great on your DS. As for Sonic Gems, the only other game at E3 was the 3D Sonic fighting game from Japanese arcades. It pretty much sucks but is kind of funny. According to IGNcube, the Japanese version will include Streets of Rage 1-3 as bonus games, while the U.S. version will instead have Vectorman 1 and 2 as bonus games (in order to keep an E rating).

So when the time comes will y'all change your name to

planetrevolution?

Also, I keep getting pop-ups telling me I have won a

playstation3. I must have won about 5 of them by now.

When they get here I planning on selling them on

e-bay, how much do you think I can get for them?

We have a lot of ideas for changing the site's name, but we haven't decided on anything quite yet. As for your PS3s, I recommend you keep them and learn to cook the Foreman way.

G'Day bag,

My question is about the Nintendo/Namco/Sega collaboration Triforce. Was this an arcade-only relationship? I was assuming not, since Sega and Namco have collaborated to create some titles for the Gamecube, but lately this hasn't been the case.

I know that Namco is currently working on that arcade version of Mario Kart, but their Gamecube/GBA/DS support seems rather weak now, especially since Soul Calibur 3 and Tales of Legendia are currently PS2 exclusive and their series have both appeared on Gamecube. I'm not particulary happy with Sega's latest offerings either.

Any light you an shed on the situation would be appreciated.

Dunnymeister

Good question. Triforce is strictly an arcade deal, although the related deal between Nintendo and Sega to develop simultaneous arcade and GameCube versions of F-Zero confused the matter. As you note, Sega hasn't done much with Nintendo since then, but Namco certainly has. They've made the Donkey Konga series, Star Fox Assault, and now Mario Baseball and the new Mario Kart for arcades. Namco just hasn't published many GameCube titles themselves, though Tales of Symphonia is a notable exception.

First of all, i must commend this site for always being dependable when i need to look up upcoming game information.

Ok, my question has to do with the Mega Man X Collection. Do you know if it's going to be like its predecessor and have music, interviews, and games to unlock? Or is it going to be more of a play-for-fun-no-secrets type of collection?

Thanks,

Link Da Boss

I would assume that Mega Man X Collection will have the same kinds of unlockables as Mega Man Anniversary Collection did. However, Capcom did not show the game at E3, so I don't know the gritty details just yet.

Look for another mailbag later on Tuesday. I'm building up a backlog now, which is good! Keep 'em coming by sending your questions/comments to
