Fire Emblem makes its way to the Nintendo GameCube in style.
Having played through enough of the original Fire Emblem for the Game Boy Advance, I figured that I'd give Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance a chance to prove itself. From what I've played so far, it seems to have passed with flying colors.
In the demo I got my hands on, you could choose from the Prologue or one of three seemingly random chapters from throughout the game. If you choose the Prologue, you're in for a treat, as the opening cinematics are beautiful. They are computer generated, but retain that classic 2D feel.
The game itself is nearly identical to its Game Boy Advance counterpart. In each scenario, you are given a handful of different characters to command. You move these characters to different squares on a grid overlapping the terrain. If you can get right next to your enemy, you can attack. Simple enough, right?
A few new things I've discovered playing the game is that some characters can transform into powerful animals, giving a tremendous attack boost. The dialogue I've seen is still pretty corny, but that's to be expected from Nintendo. If things continue looking this good, expect Fire Emblem to be a hit when it comes out later this year.
