Game Eye

by Daniel Bloodworth - May 23, 2002, 2:32 pm EDT

Part of Nintendo’s connectivity strategy, the Game Eye is a slick new version of the Game Boy Camera.

The Game Eye plugs right into the cartridge slot of the GBA, but it is looks very different from the old Game Boy Camera. The pak extends above the GBA and has a horizontal bar about the size of a cigar. On the left end is a very small lens that captures the image. The right side has a dial that allows you to adjust the angle of the camera. You can face it towards you or away from you or at several angles in between.

Anyone that used the Game Boy Camera should be familiar with the software set up. You can see a full-color moving image on the screen and push a button to snap a shot that’s saved to memory. You can also use L and R to zoom the camera which is very nice.

If the GBA is connected to the Game Cube, you can then plant your face or whatever you took a picture of right into the game. At this time Stage Debut is the only game being shown, but the technology is very nice.
