Talkback
Well that was quick! Though this is EA we are talking about...
I take it the new DLC allows you to download custom maps without the need of friend codes, something I believe the first game only had?
I'm not really sure about the the FC situation.I haven't tried the online yet on the first game.
I think the DL from EA will be something like the stage a day in Brawl.I suspect that EA will use their own servers.
OMG yet another must get game. The ability to download the levels off of a main hub is reason enough to purchase this! Should be interesting to see how it sells now that it is established. Not to mention that even though it has only been a year, this is the type of game where they can actually make a worthwhile sequel in a short amount of time because they already have the engine so it is just a matter of polishing it, adding some worthwhile features and brand new puzzles.
You know how mainstream the original is?
I was listening to KFI about a month ago and one of the morning hosts recomended the original to a coworker that got a Wii around that time.
OK I was wondering who got the original and your thoughts on it?
Awesome!
Still want wifi vs. play, though.
Everybody puts "Party" in his game name nowadays, eh?
This is cool and all, but did we really need another game with "party" in the title?

Watch Nintendo releasing Wii Party just to get on Pale's nerves. And we all know Wii is the ultimate party console while the PS3 and 360 are trying too hard to be a gaming PC replacement.
Added info to OP and Changed Title.
Added info and 2 screenshots
Shows of the 2 new areas Space and Underwater.
The new environments sound like they should have an impact on the physics, which is certainly a good next step for the game. I hope that's actually the case.

In all fairness, the word "party" is getting rather generic.

Yes it does, but the game will still be great!
More info added to OP
The ultimate party console in my little dream world has a mini fridge with a ton of booze.
If Nintendo does this with Wii 2, sales will sky-rocket.
God I need booze right now. Hooray for Boom Blox sequal!
No waffle iron?
It is kind of interesting, according to the interview on IGN, the development team made it a goal to create all the levels using the creation tool. Sounds like it will be even more robust!
Early on in the development of BOOM BLOX Bash Party, our designers committed to building every one of the over 400 levels in the game using the Create Mode feature. To make this possible, we added some key features to the Create Mode that makes level creation much more robust. This means that the community will have access to the same tool that we used to build all of the game's levels. So we anticipate an explosion of great new content available for the world to download.
Now that really excites me.
I guess that means they'll make sure it's fast to use (doesn't mean easy, Blender is fast but about as easy as vi). And maybe even complete (Blast Works has enemy patterns and such that are used in pre-built material but not available for selection to the user, such as chasing while facing the target as seen on the staple removers in the paper plane level)

Well here is the first trailer.
I just watched the trailer as well. I like the look of the water and space levels.

Great hands on impressions of the game. If you read this and aren't excited for the game you are weird. 600+ new levels along with tons of of additional content. Not only that but the level trading requires no friend code and is supposedly seamlessly integrated with the game.
This is one of those sequels where they seem to be going all out and EA needs to be praised for what appears to be something more then a quick cash in. It actually looks like the development team is having FUN with creating the sequel and is able to put in anything they want. You can even use the characters to solve puzzles, they are no longer resistant to grabbing.
Wait, if level trading does not require a friend code does it use the Wii's own code instead?
Here is the explanation:
There are no friend codes to speak of. Rather, the title connects so quickly to EA's servers that the process is practically invisible to the end user. Rahimi demonstrated this truth to us by flipping through some of the stage selection screens, all of which now feature a clickable block to download new, user-created levels. He clicked on the block, connected and downloaded all user-created levels within two or three seconds. Because the created levels are just coordinate data, there's no assets to be downloaded and everything is therefore downloaded in the blink of an eye. EA has big plans in store the online mode. Users will be able to trade levels directly with friends, but also receive periodic blasts from the publisher, all without ever leaving the main menus.

But how will people know who made which level? What confuses me is how, say, Maxi knows that I sent him a stage if I didn't tell my game that he is my friend?
The box art pretty much defines ugly.

It may use EA Nation like their sports games.

I was wondering when someone would point out the return of Greg's favorite exploding monkey. ;)
BlastWorks had an FC-less download system, worked fine.

Every EA published Wii game with an exception of Rock Band 2(because it's a MTV Games game) uses EA Nation so I'm not entirely surprised that it uses that, PS3 and Xbox 360 EA games also use EA Nation if I'm thinking correctly.
New box art to judge!
No monkey, that will make poeple happy. I think it looks better. It reminds me of old 8/16-bit game boxes for some reason.

Kind of odd the name Boom Blox if on the side.
"It reminds me of old 8/16-bit game boxes for some reason."
It's that big ass yellow bar on the side.
I like it!

That and the way the title text looks.
Who was it on the podcast that hated the monkey? Was it James? I wonder if he'll hate the Tiger as well.
Yes, the Big Ass Yellow Bar is a nice touch, Stogi.
The original is down to $30 now, I'm thinking of buying it again. 4 days ago was its one-year anniversary, so it may perhaps be rather fitting...

The sequel's coming next week, sounding to be even better, and debuting at $40, why not wait for that?
Why can't I get both? Though I'd probably wait to find Boom Blox 2 on sale.
I saw Boom Blox for 20 at Blockbuster, but I'm just going to wait for the new one.
For those that don't know the game is coming out next week.
In the meantime have a look at this.
The game is going to be great. If you don't buy it you are a SonyMicroNazi

Matt gave it an 8.5 and if you read the review it sounds like a fantastic follow up to the first game with potential for almost limitless gameplay.
and limitless non-advertising?
Go EA?

Not to mention they forgot this existed and comes out the same day.

Well Boom Blox had little advertising and was a slow but steady seller. Really I don't think releasing games like this with something big like Punch-Out!! really affects it in the long term on Wii.
This game is out already too? Spielberg never told me about this. Stupid EA's press sites (both of them) don't even have a trailer for it.
Sheesh, I'll get it this weekend.

That's a CG render. Lifeless advertising like that doesn't count. Gotta have INFO.
Played the game for a couple of hours and well, it is just as fantastic as the original. It has a TON of content, heck we even barely scratched the surface in regards to the multiplayer modes!
Now I could be wrong about this, but does it seem like there are less puzzles in the new game that require 1 throw to get a gold? I only owned the first game a short while as I left it at my in laws one day and just let them keep it b/c they loved it so much. But it seems like the new game has more puzzles with 2 or 3 throws for a gold or just a certain amount of points. I'm not nitpicking or anything, but that was my favorite part of the first game, finding that one throw that could knock it all down.
Maybe they're just in another area, as the amount of places to explore is pretty overwhelming at first.
Yeah I noticed that too but you have to remember even IF it lacks many of those there is still the downloadable stuff. BTW the game is FANTASTIC

Interesting. But yeah, I'm sure the downloadable stuff will more than make up for it. You throw any in the ring yet?
No, I don't want my terrible designs getting out!
So would it be possible to describe how the controls work? Are they any different than the first game? That was my main gripe about the first game, it was very difficult to be precise especially in the shooting levels.
Hmm, thus far I haven't notice a difference, but I've never really had an issue with the controls (which is saying a LOT, because I have control issues with most Wii titles). Perhaps it was the sensor bar, or you played during a sun shiny day.
And GP, its rather odd. I've owned LBP since launch and I have yet to release a level for the same reason. Considering I'm always writing music and playing in front of people, I figured I'd do the same with Smash, LBP, and Boom Blox. Funny how it goes. I guess it just boils down to the fact that it requires a lot of spare time to create and I'd rather spend that time playing someone else's creation.
How about the physics? Are they any different or are they still moon-like?
Perhaps it was the sensor bar, or you played during a sun shiny day.
I don't think that would cause the shots from the gun to be off-center in relation to the on-screen cursor.
Reminder, EA made a game. Stores sell it, too.

I've seen it for $30 at a couple places now too. A steal.
I'll probably snag it later this Summer. There are just too many games on my catchup list. After C-Day (Conduit, Indy, Overlord and maybe Dawn of Discovery all in one purchase) I'll probably look back to my large backlog of unpurchased games from late last year and early this year.
