The Freeloader Available Next Week?
« on: January 28, 2003, 01:17:19 PM »
There's been some chatter around the web today that the Freeloader could be released next week.  Is hell chilly or what?

Months ago we posted a hardware profile for Datel's Freeloader, a disc that allows you to play imported games from any region.  The disc was supposed to be released last year, but after numerous delays it was rumored that the Freeloader would end as vaporware.

Today a few import stores reported that they could be receiving their Freeloader shipments as early as next week.  We contacted our friends at Video Game Depot for confirmation, and they said they'll get official word tomorrow.

So for now, we advise people to wait until further confirmation.  But if the Freeloader is finally released, you will no longer need to mod your system to play games from other regions.

Update:  I spoke with Video Game Depot this afternoon, and they've gotten confirmation that they should have the Freeloader in stock sometime next week.
