As the working week begins for the US and UK, some quick news items that broke over the weekend.

Splatoon Has Slight Misfire, Extended Play for Last Global Test

The last Splatoon Global Testfire this past Saturday did not go according to plan, although a full hour of inking was completed.

During the originally promised time (6 ET/3 PT), players were unable to connect to the server for a vast majority of the battle time. Whatever issue caused the errors were corrected shortly after 7pm, and Nintendo did extend the test until 8pm with no further issues.

Reviews for Splatoon will be released tomorrow at noon Eastern time, however Nintendo World Report's review will be unscored until after the game's reviewer (Neal Ronaghan) can test the live servers.

Fire Emblem Awakening Reaches 1.79 Million Sales

We knew that Fire Emblem Awakening was selling well, but now we have hard numbers.

The 2012 (Japan)/2013 (rest of world) strategy RPG has sold 1.79 million copies as of December 31, according to an entry on the website for a single release of Fire Emblem if's theme song.

This would represent approximately 1.15 million sales outside of Japan, based on the Japanese numbers, and would roughly double the sales of the nearest game in the series.

European eShop Update to Feature Ink, Dinos and Strangeness

Although Splatoon is obviously the big mover for the Wii U eShop this week, the 3DS does get a dinosaur game and the Wii U will see some extreme oddities.

Fossil Fighters Frontier launches on 3DS as an absolutely insane month for retail releases wraps up. You can read Addison's review for more information.

On the Wii U, Midnight City's High Strangeness will release, as well as two Flying Warriors games from Culture Brain on the Virtual Console.

Adventures of Pip Pips a Release Date

Adventures of Pip has received its final release date.

According to an update on the game's Kickstarter page, the era-switching platformer will release on June 11 for the Wii U. The game was originally slated to come out in May but was delayed for final bug-squashing.

As a reminder, Adventures of Pip will allow you to switch back and forth between a single pixel, a 16-bit character and a 32-bit character to overcome platforming challenges.
