A 3DS eShop sequel to DSiWare's AiRace is in development at QubicGames, NWR was told in a recent interview. The developer recently started working on the game, which will be called AiRace: SPE3D and feature online multiplayer, and plans to release it in late 2012.

The original AirRace was released on DSiWare in early 2010 and features gameplay where you must carefully pilot planes through tunnels filled with obstacles.

Read the rest of the interview, focused on Gnomz, QubicGames' latest game for WiiWare, for more on the company's slate of games.

I don't know if it was good, but watching the trailer reminded me of the training simulator from TIE Fighter, which was pretty fun.  I didn't buy it because I was hoping for a 3D version, so this is happy news.
