RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!  A console launch wouldn't be the same without it.

I swear, every Ridge Racer game is the "training wheels" project that Namco uses to learn the ropes on a new system.  That's painfully obvious now.

It makes sense since racing games tend to be great ways to show off a system's power. Speed and beauty packed in an easy game to understand (and probably make).

That said, the PSP did receive a Ridge Racer sequel. I should know since I have it. The title never had a North American release.

No mention of Paper Mario? Guess we won't be playing it anytime soon.

That seems like a lousy launch selection.

Layton + SSFIV would be enough for me until that Spring lineup hits.

Spring 2011:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (Nintendo)

Interesting that this isn't a launch game, maybe Nintendo is going to go the extra mile and fix everything wrong with OoT and expand it. GOTY confirmed!

I was also going to ask about that. Paper Mario 3D has been, relatively speaking, one of the more exposed 3DS titles in terms of coverage. Of course, as stated at the top of the list, this schedule is subject to change. I think, as more games are revealed (there are probably quite a few still under wraps), the list will grow.

Also no mention of Animal Crossing, which is a disappointment for me because as much as I'd like to get the hardware Day 1, I still haven't identified any games I actually want on it.

Most of the NWR E3 attendees agreed that it didn't look like Nintendo had the software to support a 2010 launch line-up. This pretty much confirms it. This is a really weak line-up. Professor Layton and Nintendogs +cats are clearly the flagship titles in Japan at least, neither of which I'm terribly interested in. Heck, the only game in the Spring timeframe that I'm interested in is Pilotwings Resort.

I really want an excuse to buy a 3DS at launch, but this is pathetic. To be honest, it feels more like a Sony console launch, with its steep price point and no definitive have-to-have game. Nintendo doesn't seem ready to release its bigger games yet, so I question how rushed the third party launch titles will be. I suppose the DS launch wasn't very good either, with Super Mario 64 as the big title, but fortunately for Nintendo I like Mario a lot.

All system launches can't be the Dreamcast (or so I frequently read). I think it has become the MO that console launches suck. Make me more comfortable in waiting a few years for the system and its software to mature. Not only will there have been a price cut or two, but there will most likely be a great number of good games to play at discounted prices!

The system will sell out at lauch regardless of the launch line up and launch games will sell ok due to being all thats available, so why it gives all teh good games time to get polished for the rest of us that have to wait.

I doubt I'll be getting one at launch at this point, but I will own one as soon as either the price is right or a game I must have now is released (& on sale ;)). No rush for me this time around. I'm very interested in what a 3DS lite might be like, so I might be able to wait.

In Japan, who knows. I think we want to know what the price will be for the rest of us. I think the launch titles are pretty good, there are 2 or 3 I would seriously consider getting. I am sure the US launch will be better.
