Professor Layton and the Curious Village proved to be a surprise hit both in Japan and the United States, aided along by a solid marketing campaign months after its initial release featuring Lisa Kudrow (of Friends fame). So it's not surprising that Nintendo is bringing the second game in the series, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, to the United States.

The Diabolical Box once again stars the charming Professor Layton and his eager apprentice Luke as they leave the first game's St. Mystere only to encounter another mystery that will put their critical thinking to the test. This time, the murder of Professor LaytonÂ’s mentor Dr. Schrader, and a mysterious box called the Elysian Box, kick starts a series of events where everything is not what it seems.

Developer Level 5 Games returns once again to deliver a brand new story that features over 150 brain teasers, riddles, and puzzles. The adventure is expanded even further with new downloadable puzzles via Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, with one new puzzle available each week for 33 weeks. The visually stunning animated cutscenes are making a return and will once again be fully voiced, even to a greater extent than in the original title.

Players can dive deep into the mystery August 29, 2009.
