Golden Sun: The Lost Age Transfer Details

A sequel to the fabulous Golden Sun is on its way, and you can move your characters to the new game.  Hope you kept your cart!

It seems like it's taking forever, and some of you have probably forgotten that a sequel to Golden Sun is coming.  Here's the beef on what you'll need to do to transfer your characters.  That's right ... you'd better have kept your cartridge, because your stats and gold can go with you into the next game.  That is, if you’ve already completed Golden Sun.

To get to the transfer options, hold down L and R at the black screen with the "Golden Sun" logo and menu at the bottom.  Hit Left on the D-Pad and the B button at the same time, and a new menu option for "Send" should appear with an envelope icon.

Send Menu ... REVEALED!

In the Send menu, you can pick one of the three save slots to send.  You can only use a FINISHED game file, so if you didn't complete the game, you'd better get a move on.  Once you pick your save file, you have the option to generate a password, or to send the data to another Game Boy with a link cable.  The password option is much less straight-forward than the cable option, so that's the large part of what we're going to show you.

You have the option of a Gold, Silver, or Bronze transfer, which correspond to how much data you will send, and consequently, how long your password will be.  Is it really that big a deal?  You bet it is!  A Gold transfer has your Level, Djinn, stats, items, and coins ... at the cost of a password that is 260 characters long!

Gold Transfer

A silver transfer is only Level, Djinn, and your stats and is only about 61 characters, and a Bronze transfer of just your Level and Djinn is a meager 16 characters.  (Please note that these numbers may be unique to the finished game file we tested with, and may not be the same for all games.)

Golden Sun to will be released in North America on April 14.  While you're waiting, check out the profile for Golden Sun: The Lost Age for more screens from the Transfer Menu!

I've known about the password feature for at least 15 months.   I've had  my gold password saved on my HD,  (because I  think typing it > writing it. ) and I can't wait to FINALLY put it to use.

That does seem to be the case, does it not!? Luckily I have three GBA's in the house and won't have to type such an assinine password (It could have been shortened if they'd programed it to do so).

They DID.  You can have a password as short at 16 characters if you need it, and that encompasses only your Level and Djinn.  The more things you want to carry over, the more complicated the password HAS to be.  When you consider that the Gold transfer has each individual character's stats, and each individual character's items, that's a LOT of data.  Be happy they give you the option at all.

And if you think they could've made in any shorter,  why don't YOU learn about programming a password system like that, and  see if you can make it shorter.  They aren't making it long just to piss you off.  It's that long because  that's the only way to  get that much data that accurately transfered.  If you have a problem with it and you're too lazy to type in a long password, use one of the shorter passwords, or get a link cable and borrow someone else's GBA and transfer the  data over.

Wow.... I really glad my brother bought himself a GBA a while back.... Though I probally would of used the gold pass anyways if I didn't since I really don't want to lose what I did.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

Mayba I should ya damn smart***!

No, really!? Tell me something I did'nt already know! I did'nt say I pissed off at it either, just annoyed that some ppl(myself not included)will have to type in such a long password. I've seen NES and Genesis games do similar password with other games in the past AND with shorter passwords to retain everything. The GS:LA is similar except for the fact that your only transferring your data to a different game.

I do have a problem with it, thats true enough, but I sure as hell did'nt say I was too lazy to type it in now did I!? Also if you'd opened your eyes wider and read my previous post more carefully, you'd see I don't really have to type any password at all, dumb***! As a matter of fact I'll let you go back and read it yourself and save me the trouble of having to type SO MANY words cause I'm lazy. Heh!

I'd change your attitude before you find yourself banned.  You've completely overreacted.  Cool it.

So much for saying "We're all friends here."

I can't wait for this title to hit  stateside. It seems A chunk of the good games coming out are RPG's. The Wind Waker is on the horizon, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles will mark Square's (Hopefully) grand return to the big N. Not to mention Final Fantasy Tatics, Secret of Mana, Gladius (despite the fact its coming out on all platforms. But hey, its Lucas Arts we're talking about.)  Now if only Giftipia was confirmed for North America...

Golden Sun combined the best of the old with the best of the new. Wonder how #2 will stack up?

P.S on a side note,  any word on Golden Sun on GC? Or was that just heresay?

The thing is, people with 100% everything, the best weapons and items for all the characters...

They can post their 260-digit password on the web too.

So even if the game isn't out yet, there's already a 100% cheat.

No, when you start the next game, most weapons and items are going to be useless.  And you won't be able to just enter this code into Golden Sun 1.

There is no cheat, it's just to transfer your progress.

When you see the credits roll you'll be asked to save your game. That's the clear data. If you're the impatient kind who doesn't watch through the credits, your problem.
