Does this add to Peyton Manning's legend? The constant comparison is between Manning and Tom Brady. Brady having more Superbowl rings is the most used argument that suggests that Manning is merely number 2, and it's a very easy conclusion to make. But when Brady went down a few years back the Pats almost made the playoffs. With Manning gone the Colts are completely worthless. A 0-16 season honestly seems like a possibility.
So while Brady is clearly a great quarterback on a great team, Manning is looking more like an out-of-this-world player that single-handedly makes his team of inept nobodies great, but not quite as great as Brady's team. The Colts are so bad without him you could make the argument that Manning is the greatest quarterback of all time or maybe even the best football player ever! Could you take any group of experienced football players, slot Manning in as quarterback, and have a contending NFL team? His absence is proving his greatness!
