Pet simulators and tower defenses are in plentiful supply this week.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/23614

This week in Nintendo downloads, we have eight new games available across the Nintendo digital platforms. There are two new games on WiiWare, and six new games on Nintendo DSiWare. There are no new Virtual Console releases this week.

First up on WiiWare is the first installment in the Pearl Harbor Trilogy by Legendo Entertainment, 1941: Red Sun Rising. The game takes place over the Pacific Ocean as the United States enters World War II, and features fast-paced air combat with realistic visuals and frantic action. The game is the first of three intended installments that cover the historical battles from the era. Red Sun Rising is single-player only, and is available now on the Wii Shop for 700 Wii Points ($7).

The second and final game for WiiWare is Cruise Party from Enjoy Gaming. This casino simulator takes place on a cruise ship, and features Slot Machines, Roulette, Black Jack and Video Poker. The game supports up to four players, and two different gameplay modes: Quick Play and Competition. Cruise Party is available on the Wii Shop for 800 Wii Points ($8).

The first game up on DSiWare this week is QuickPick Farmer from Dancing Dots. This game has you sorting through different types of sheep on the touch screen, then catapulting them off into distant barns to earn points and protect the flock. The game is a fast paced action-puzzle game with cartoon-style visuals. QuickPick Farmers is available on the DSi Shop for 200 Nintendo DSi Points ($2).

The second DSiWare game this week is Soul of Darkness from Gameloft, a title that plays similarly to Castlevania. It takes place in a gothic world of dark woods, cathedrals, and caves with enemies such as gargoyles and werewolves. The main character is Kale, who is trying to save his beloved from a vampire. Soul of Darkness is available on the DSi Shop for 500 Nintendo DSi Points ($5).

The third game on DSiWare is SteamWorld Tower Defense from Image & Form. This game features a unique blend of science fiction and western themes within a familiar tower defense shell. The game has you placing defense robots which will fire at enemy robots as they pass along a path. Players must strategically place the right defenses so that no enemies can get by.  The game supports only one player, and is available on the DSi Shop for 500 Nintendo DSi Points ($5).

The fourth DSiWare game is 101 Shark Pets from Teyon. The game is a virtual pet simulator, giving you many different pet sharks to choose from. You can personalize your pet shark and teach them tricks, upgrade your shark using money, and participate in pet shows. 101 Shark Pets is available on the DSi Shop for 500 Nintendo DSi Points ($5).

The fifth game on DSiWare this week is Hello Flowerz from Enjoy Gaming. This game is a flower-growing simulator that lets you grow and maintain a virtual greenhouse. Water them daily, arrange them into bouquets, and landscape your gardens. Hello Flowerz is available for 500 Nintendo DSi Points ($5).

The final title on DSiWare this week is Flips: The Folk of the Faraway Tree. This is the latest installment in the Flips series from EA, a series of interactive novels. This novel is the followup to a previous release entitled "Flips: The Magic Faraway Tree". The game features a pair of children who visit a magical tree and meet the new and interesting creatures there. Flips: The Folk of the Faraway Tree is available on the DSi Shop for 500 Nintendo DSi Points ($5).

Soul of Darkness is actually pretty good. It lacks the polish of a 2D Castlevania title, but's it's still good.

It's also a cell phone port (which should be no surprise since that is what most of Gameloft's games are), not that it matters.

Aw, too bad this is on DSiWare and not WiiWare...

Is the title "Hello Flowerz" or Hellow Flowerz"? The article uses both.

I just thought I'd add that I'm going to being reviewing both of the WiiWare games and a couple of the DSiWare games.

Hopefully we can have the first of the reviews up in the next few days! :)

I'm too apathetic at this point to even type my weekly catchphrase.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Zach,

As of a couple of weeks ago, WayForward hasn't even submitted Shantae to Nintendo. I think WayForward is the one to blame and not really Nintendo.
