Club Nintendo Elite Rewards for 2009 Revealed
« on: July 14, 2009, 06:09:56 AM »
Gold members will get a 2010 calendar while Platinum members get to choose between a Mario hat and a Punch-Out!! WiiWare game.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=19018

Two weeks after the inaugural year of Club Nintendo ended, Nintendo has unveiled what rewards the Platinum and Gold members will receive. In order to reach either status, members had to accrue point plateaus by registering their Nintendo games and systems. Platinum members get to choose between a Mario hat and a Punch-Out!! WiiWare game while Gold members get a 2010 calendar. Members have until August 11 to register for their reward, but it might not be delivered until November 1 at the latest.

Mario Hat

The first Platinum choice for a reward is a Mario hat, which was also offered as a reward to Japanese Club Nintendo members. The hat is a "true-to-life replica of the iconic red hat worn by Mario" and contains an elastic strap to enable it to fit the most people.

Doc Louis's Punch-Out!!

The other item is a WiiWare game called Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! This game, based off of the recent Wii release, features a one-on-one bout between Little Mac and his longtime trainer, Doc Louis. This game will only be available as a Club Nintendo reward in the USA and Canada.

Club Nintendo 2010 Calendar

Gold members will receive a Club Nintendo Original Calendar for 2010. This desk calendar will feature different Nintendo game artwork for each month.

It's a crying shame that the Doc Louis game won't be available until November.  I was hoping reviews would be out before I had to pick a prize.

I'll probably go with the game because I have no use for the hat, but it would be nice to know if they game was any good.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Has there been any actual confirmation about Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! not being available til November? All the info from the e-mail just said "delivered by November 1." I would assume that something that doesn't involve a physical item (DL P-O) would be out before then.

I would assume that the calendar would be sent out later with the WiiWare game being made available on the sooner side.

The game isn't ESRB rated yet so I wonder how much development they have to do. I bet they are going to reuse assets and code then dump it on Wiiware.

Well, I hope you can still purchase it from the Club Nintendo store normally, and that being a Platinum member in a year of slim 1st party pickings wasn't the only way to get it.  It's a free gift so I'll get a kick out of my calender, though.

Since I was under the impression that the Punch Out game was a flash game that you played at the site I went with the Mario Hat instead and it also told me that it would be shipped in November 1. Very weird that they would wait THAT long to send an order.

my thoughts exactly.

My guess is they need time to make a big order .

It's too bad that I only have 70 Nintendo coins...

If I get hired by NWR, that will change. Maybe I can make the gold/platinum next year. Getting a Wii will also help if they are still giving away coins for registering that.

I like how the website is completely down.

It was down for days when they switched over to Club Nintendo.

I never did bother going back to make sure my conversion from MyNintendo went through and if I had enough points for anything, or haven't bothered to register my last few games.  Ah well, guess I should check... but probably "better luck next year" for me...

You mean their ridiculously lightweight website barely anybody visited or needed to?  Or their AOL Keyword days?  Internet demand has increased by leaps and bounds since then.

PROS BACK! PARTY DOWN!

I'm guessing the Punchout doesn't require the full game?

You are correct. The offer states that the retail release is not required.

Back when Nintendo Power ran it before Nintendo Power itself went downhill.  It used to have downloadable videos and all sorts of interactive components.
Also, Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s website has been solid since that time, and they don't randomly delete all of their previous content with every redesign.

They're not even shipping my hat until November? Shennanigans!
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.
