Today, EA announced that they will bundle the Wii MotionPlus with their two upcoming games that feature the new peripheral. In America, it will be bundled with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10, and in Europe it will be bundled with Tiger Woods and EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis.

Tiger Woods 10 will be available with the Wii MotionPlus for $59.99, or without the accessory for $49.99. Both editions of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 will be available on June 15 in North America.

This is Epic News. Nintendo is showing real love for a 3rd party developer by releasing WM+ with their game first. No other game has been packaged with a Nintendo product.

I hope Wii Speak with The Conduit next

Nope, in Japan there was a Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles + Zapper bundle, and a Ghost Squad + Zapper bundle.

That's Japan, and thats an accessory that is worthless.

Whether or not you find the accessory worthless or not, it's still a Nintendo product that is bundled. Also there was a DS Lite Guitar Hero On Tour bundle.

This is a brilliant idea. While Wii Sports Resorts is guaranteed to move a lot of MP units having mutliple game bundles help MP reach even more homes and those that have four controllers can easily have four MP units.

I do, however, hope that a Grand Slam Tennis MP bundle is released, even at a later date.

I wonder if Sega will negotiate a similar deal for Virtua Tennis.

What do you think?

It wouldn't be wise for Sega to not offer a Wii Motion Plus package with their game.

The main issue with Sega's game is that it comes out a few weeks before Wii MotionPlus.

Win for SEGA - the only way to get Wii Motion Plus early. ;)

That will not happen.

Nintendo wants Wii Sports Resort to be THE game that releases alongside MP. Releasing MP with Virtua Tennis defeats that purpose.

I now wonder if Sega rushed VT to market just to meet the MP hype.

But Wii Sports Resort comes out after Wii MotionPlus. Grand Slam Tennis releases on June 15th as well.

There isn't a plan to make a Virtua Tennis 2009 w/ MotionPlus bundle. Wii MotionPlus has a June release while Virtua Tennis 2009 has a May release.

That's really too bad, as Virtua Tennis is sure to be superior in every way. Sega has always been ridiculously great at making tennis games. I cannot wait to finally play tennis on the Wii in a fun manner. Swinging in a certain direction will actually determine the direction the ball flies? Check. Nunchuck used to actually control character movement? Check.

I'm confused... does the fact that there are two versions mean that motion plus isn't required? That seems a little odd.

Correct, the game is perfectly playable if you don't have a Wii MotionPlus, the game is just enhanced for the peripheral if you have it.

If the game had to be designed to work without motion plus, how exactly does it make good use of it? Maybe I'm just being a pessimist again, but this seems comparable to when Nintendo ported Twilight Princess to Wii and kept the cube version.

The result was a relatively bland use of the motion controls.

Probably the same way games can be enhanced if they are played on certain systems.

That doesn't make any sense at all. If motion plus makes controlling the club that much different, they would still have to balance the difficulty and physics mechanics around not using the attachment....  It's going to clash.  Either without motion plus is going to be frustratingly hard, or with motion plus is going to be insanely easy.  Or, the third option, motion plus isn't going to feel much different at all....

None of those sound good to me.

Also, what would you expect out of Wii Sports Resort if Nintendo announced that motion plus wasn't required?

I recall reading about some automatic assist system (kinda like autoaim in dual analog shooters) that can be enabled or disabled, with the setting off the WMP is WAY better than the plain Wiimote.

You make a valid point, but was Wii Tennis all that bad to begin with? I think the option is there for people who like Wii Tennis but just wanted a little more control (like moving there player). However, if people want the real deal tennis experience, there going to have to get the attachment.
