Khushrenada Annual List of Watched Movies
« on: January 04, 2021, 02:38:43 AM »
Maybe I'm the only one but I've been keeping a list of movies I've watched and adding to it every time I see a new one. While people are looking back at the games they played this year, I thought I'd bring up the movies that were watched this past year if you can remember them. (I'm amazed how quickly a film can pass from memory sometimes. There are occasions where I'm struggling to remember what I watched a couple days ago in order to add it to my list when I don't update it right away.)

For myself, it's another wide spectrum of films, both good and bad. Started the year off at theaters trying to stay on top of the Oscar nominees like 1917 or Jojo Rabbit and, boy, does that seem ages ago now. (I have no idea what's even going to be considered for the Oscars this year. In fact, I haven't even heard a thing about the Golden Globes and they usually happen around this time... :thinking emoji:) After that, it's been a wide mix of watching movies from TCM or other movie channels. When lockdown first hit from Covid, the cable company made a bunch of movie channels free to watch. (I guess in an effort to help keep people indoors.) So, I PVR'd a bunch and still have others to work through. After a downward trend in the numbers of new movies I watched compared to the past year that's been happening for 3 years now, 2020 saw a spike upwards and I went over 100 new films. I guess I found the time somehow.  :P  Anyway's here's the list:

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Woman of the Year
Superbad
Star Wars Episode 9: Rise of Skywalker
Being Julia
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Raising Arizona
Little Italy
Alien 3
Zombieland

Again, this doesn't cover seeing some movies I may have watched again for the whateverth time. Although, a lot of those were also just clicking on the TCM channel while they were in progress and then being sucked into watching them to the end. I see so many endings and so few beginnings sometimes.  :-\ How about you?

I don't remember everything I saw in 2020, not that it was a lot.

But the best movie was probably Tenet and the worst was probably Wonder Woman 1984.
TVman is dead. I killed him and took his posts.

I thought I did this for 2021 but it seems I did not create another thread for it. Maybe for the best. It's not like this was a hotbed of discussion. So, I've changed the title of this thread. Unlike the Oscars which will get their own thread of discussion each year, I'll just keep bumping this each year to post my movie watching accomplishments.

For a little bit smaller total of 123 films watched in 2022 compared to last year's total but higher than 2020's 114. Honestly still kind of shocked at learning about 2021's total of 141. Nearly had an average of a new movie every two days. I think that may be a record for me. It's weird because I also spent time in 2021 playing stuff like XCX for a large portion of time and Clubhouse Games. How did I find the time? I guess lockdowns were still keeping me to myself indoors more than I realized.

Imagine if I made a post for each of these in the Rate the Last Movie You Saw Thread. *shudders at the though of all that extra typing* Anyways, if anyone does want feedback or a quick review of a movie listed, make a post and I'll answer you on that.

I am not so meticulous in tracking the movies I see, but I can recap some of the better films that came out in 2022 that I managed to catch. I am mostly interested in 3D movies so I will start with those:
M.K. Ultra's Top 3D movies of 2022
  • Brahmastra Part One: Shiva - a great Bollywood film with awesome 3D
  • Jaws - re-released in 3D last year, this was the first time I saw it
  • Jurassic World: Dominion - my favorite of the newer trilogy
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - as a fan of Sam Raimi, I really enjoyed this
  • Avatar: The Way of Water - nobody does 3D like Cameron
  • Dawn of the Dead - Another re-release, great zombie film from the eighties, classic Romero

As for 2D movies, here are the ones that I liked the most from 2022
M.K. Ultra's Top 2D movies of 2022
  • Three Thousand Years of Longing - Another great film by George Miller
  • Don't Worry Darling - Very thought provoking film by Olivia Wilde
  • Triangle of Sadness - Very dark comedy that made me laugh a lot
  • The Menu - another dark comedy that is probably easier for most people to enjoy than Triangle
  • Crimes of the Future - an original screenplay by my favorite director (David Cronenberg), I don't think we have had one of these since eXistenZ (1999)!

So after posting this I realize that this thread is ostensibly for Khushrenada to post lists of movies.  :-[  Khush, feel free to move this post to another topic.

It's fine. I only said that since I felt I was likely the only one to do the most future posting in this thread and might as well use it like a sort of movie blog of my own or something. Nothing wrong with other users joining the discussion with films they've watched.

They Live
Eyes Wide Shut
Fletch
Anyways, if anyone does want feedback or a quick review of a movie listed, make a post and I'll answer you on that.

I am curious what you thought of these three movies. For Fletch, any plans to watch the sequel or newer film?
