Nintendo dream cult (not real)
« on: August 09, 2003, 11:41:56 PM »
I had to write a short paper describing a cult that I would design.  I picked to make one of Nintendo, why not. Enjoy the read.

 Nintendo fantasy cult

If it were real, I wouldn't mind joining.

I started a cult once.    I called it the Church of Atheist.

this reminds me of Australia a couple of years back though.  The Australian government threatened to fine people $500 if they listed their religion as "Jedi".  There was a thing going on where all Australians were asked to list their religions as "Jedi" when doing the census.  Of course the Aussie government had no legal right to do that, so I doubt anyone was fined.

Heh.  That had an amusing beginning.  I was having a theological debate with one of my classmates, and I was of course on the Atheist side fighting with the Mormons.    One of the girls in the class of course piped up and said that it didn't really matter if you were an atheist or mormon, you still had your own church, and you still had your gods and prayers or whatever.  I promptly started laughing, and informed her that an atheist was someone who didn't believe in all that garbage.

I formed the Atheist Church the next day, and it was a fine cult that was mainly centered around the ideal of animal sacrifice to false gods.

Did you ever sacrifice any animals?  I always thought it be a great idea to sacrifice misquitos because there are too damn many of them.  Of course I doubt those would count as animals.

Well, I couldn't find any.  I tried to catch a few gophers, but the little bastards are too damned quick.  There was someone giving away a bunny rabbit to a good home, but I never ever did get around to calling them.

I recruited like 5 people into my cult, but after a while we all kind of forgot about it.

I also recruited a girl who promised to sacrifice her virginity as a reward for sacrificing 1000 goats, but I didn't have a car with which to steal that many goats and kill them all.

Heh.  I am only going to be in this cult for a limited time.  I have another avatar in the making as we speak actually.    I might not actually put it up until tomorrow though.

I think enough people put Jedi on their census form in New Zealand for it to be recognised as one of New Zealand's religions aswell.

Australia and Canada, from the census datas, have the largest known faction of 'Jedi'. I like Star Wars and all, but bloody hell, I don't like it THAT much to join the 'Jedi'......
And it's not even based on the Star Wars version either! It's all about bing nice to each other and crap........

I wouldn't be arsed to join a Nintendo cult. I'd only go for fun in some form or another......perhaps burn some Xboxs and PS2s or something...............I'd just leave my Nintendo love to my site, me room and my mind.

Ok, just a few things. I think Nintendo found out about your cult, Berto2K. They've decided to use it under another name so no one will suspect. They call it: The Rewards Program.
Oh, and PIAC, Trogdor is seriously the best. I especially like when he burninates the peasants and their THATCHED ROOF COTTAGES!!!!
Finally, Termin8, your Avatar chills me to the bone. Samara was freaky.

Was "Jedi" a choice on the census or was there a huge "fill-in-the-blank" conspiracy that spread quickly.
