Bring your creations to life in 3D this summer!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/33538

Update: Flipnote Studio 3D has been confirmed to be coming to North America and Europe. In addition to the details of the application found in our original story, Nintendo has announced that users with highly rated Flipnotes may receive a free month of the applications subscription-based Flipnote Gallery: World service. Click here to watch the English version of the Flipnote Studio 3D presentation

Ugoku MemochĹŤ 3D, Flipnote Studio 3D, is making its way to the Nintendo 3DS eShop this summer in Japan, Nintendo revealed in a recent Nintendo Direct today.

Making use of the system’s 3D effect, users will be able to make their creations on three separate planes and can now use up to six different colors while crafting their masterpieces. Content can be uploaded online as an animated GIF, a series of GIFs or as an AVI file.

Flipnote Studio 3D will be a free download and will also offer community services for users. The Friend Ugomemo (Friend Flipnote) gallery is a free service that allows you to share content, make comments and even download creations from your friends. There is also a World Ugomemo (World Flipnote), which gives gamers access to creations from all over the world. Unlike the Friend Ugomemo, the World Ugomemo service has a small required monthly fee. The first 30 days of the service are free and there will be also specified free hours so that everyone can utilize the service.

Today’s Nintendo Direct also revealed that the DSiWare Flipnote Studio sharing service is coming to a close in Japan on May 31. While users will be unable to share created content with others, they can, of course, still use the application.

There is currently no Western release information for Flipnote Studio 3D. You can check out the presentation in its entirety below.

This is super awesome news. More colors, and 3D. It will be very interesting to see the videos people make who have a lot of free time on their hands

I hate to tell them though, I don't care how cheap their online server is, they're not getting any money out of me

This'll be good news for all the people on SwapNote who try to tell stories and such.

Sounds awesome, its sort of trolling but Colors 3D has 5 layers of 3D :cool; :cool;  and God knows how many different colors. I'll totally going to give this a try

Considering how amazing some people's drawings on Miiverse are, Flipnote on Wii U would be pretty awesome.

It kind of sucks that Nintendo is shutting down the DSi Flipnote sharing site, but they had to eventually. More reason to get a 3DS.

This sounds cool.

I do hope, however, that eventually Nintendo will integrate Letterbox (Swapnote) and Flipnote.

Also, is Letterbox still a thing that people use? Letterbox was cool for about a week, but ultimately I had to disable it from receiving people's messages. I was getting bombarded with so much spam from people on my friends list, and short of removing that person completely there was no way to filter out those messages that I would prefer not to receive. Also, that app was way too slow.

Still, if they were to fix those issues and integrate the two services I think that would be great.
Gouge away.

I still get messages on Swapnote occasionally, but I rarely send them. In fact, I just unlocked responding to messages or something late last year. I didn't know you had to do that.

I agree that it would be far more useful and intuitive if it wasn't so slow. That's a problem with a lot of Nintendo's OS, menus, apps, and such. I'd really like to see Nintendo work on optimizing these things.

They should integrate Swapnote, Flipnote, MiiVerse, Pictochat, Colors!, Inchworm Animation, New Art Academy and Animatee into one all drawing solution.

I still use SwapNote. As a spammer though. I had uploaded a few dozens of 3d pics from my vacation in Malaysia. Some cool pics in there.
