Atlus' Trauma Center team brings the whole hospital experience to Wii.

 The newest issue of Famitsu revealed that the team behind the Trauma Center series is developing a new title for Wii called Hospital.    

Players will be able to play as different positions in a hospital such as a paramedic, a forensic analysis specialist, and a plastic surgeon. Two new gameplay examples shown are maneuvering an endoscopic camera with the Wii Remote, and extracting an iron beam out of a liver.    

Graphically the game looks similar to the Wii entries in the Trauma Center series. The cut scenes in the game will be presented in a manga style.    

Currently, there is no release date for Hospital.

Interesting. I guess they are expanding the game so you now play all of the roles?

I haven't bought either of the two Trauma Center games, perhaps I should get on that.

There are technically four Trauma Center games, Mop. The best one is New Blood (Wii).

I'm glad they are doing something new with this franchise.

I'm probably going to go with New Blood since I have read good things about it and it has co-op.

If you play New Blood I recommend you to play co-op mode as much as possible, since the game is hard if you are playing by yourself.

So the game is just called "Hospital"? Are we back to the Atari 2600 days where we can have games called "Adventure", "Basic Math", "Combat", etc.? Not that I mind, but a rather simplistic name seems odd.

For now yes, the game is called Hospital. I won't be surprised if Atlus USA attaches the Trauma Center name if it comes out in America, which it most likely will since Atlus brought over every Trauma Center game.

This is a really good idea for a sequel.  It's just a natural expansion of the original concept.

They could easily call this game Trauma Center: Hospital or maybe Trauma Center: Full Staff.

But I think that even the name "Hospital" would still be fine. It isn't as vague as something like "adventure" since you know you are going to be working in a hospital somehow. It really doesn't seem any less descriptive than the Trauma Center name to the uninitiated.

None of the Trauma Center games were just called "Trauma Center" though:

Second Opinion fits in though since it's a remake of the DS game and some extras, some people get a second opinion from another doctor . New Blood is a interesting name for a sequel though, but fitting since it deals with a new doctor while TC1,Second Opinion, and TC2 you play as Dr. Derek Stiles. In New Blood you play as Dr. Markus Vaughn.

All that comes to my head is House (tv series), in the sense that they should make a Trauma Center: House.

This is good. Trauma Center was starting to turn into the Guitar Hero of surgery games.

I suspected they were going to overhaul the series. Atlus sent me a survey a few months ago about the Trauma Center series and specifically asked why I didn't buy Under the Knife 2 and what I would like to change about the series.

There was one question in the survey that annoyed me, though. When they asked what platform I would like to see the next game on, the options were Wii, DS, and... 360? I swear, it's like third parties are looking for any excuse to not bring a game to a Nintendo system. I mean, the gameplay in TC is quite literally impossible with a standard controller. Why even make that an option? Oh well, at least they ended up making the right choice.

Oooh. I loved the first three games in the series (have not played TC2), so I'll keep an eye on this. I'd like to see how they can expand from mostly using the pointer to actual "operating" gestures. Screenshots show that co-op will also be available.

On a side note, a friend of mine, despite the fact the game has a less grotesque and more simplistic nature than real surgery, gets queasy from watching me operate. So I wonder how the new procedures like diagnostics will be presented... perhaps you check for boils on patients with bubonic plague.

I personally don't see any of the issues that people have complained about in TC2 on DS. I didn't find it to be a repeat of the first at all. I never got very far in New Blood so that may be why I'm not as bothered but how TC2 turned out.

Trauma Team has a good ring to it. I hope it sells better because I don't want to see this series die off.

How in the world do you compare a series that has 2 games each on the Wii and DS over the course four years to a series that releases over four games in a single year. TC is in no way close to being whored out like Activisions use of Guitar Hero.

I think what he meant was how each release in the series is so similar, not how many have been made.

I found them to be different enough for me. Not including the Wii remake of the DS one. And I've played all the others.

I meant both. Four games in four years is a bit much. Nobody can out-whore Guitar Hero, though.

Looks like they're giving this game more development time than the others, and it shows. Six doctors with their own unique gameplay. I'm perfectly fine with that. That's all I wanted to see for the evolution of the series. I'll be buying this one for sure.
