I seem to recall someone, some time ago, going on how Mario wasn't very popular anymore and that's why we didn't see licensed Mario stuff that much.
I bought a Mario beach towel about two weeks ago. Wanted to buy Mario swim trunks, but they were all waayyy too small. Tried to buy two and make my wife sew a me-sized pair out of them, as she's a woman and all women have the knowledge of sewing in their genetic code. Ended up with several needles jabbed into me.
This is proof of what I said before - companies will fall in line to make licensed Nintendo stuff. Nintendo is just far, far more strict (and, frankly, erratic and inconsistent) when it comes to who, when and how they license their properties.
