Guitar Hero III Wii Controller Revealed
« on: July 09, 2007, 11:18:17 AM »
Wii Remote snap-in confirmed.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=13794

Activision today released final details regarding the wireless Gibson Les Paul controller, which will be the official control for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

The new controller, which as previously mentioned is wireless, supports a new officially licensed design modeled after the classic Gibson Les Paul guitar. The controller features removable face-plates, and redesigned fret buttons, with less color than the Guitar Hero SG controller.

As for the guitar's virtual counterparts, players will be able to chose from over 20 Gibson guitars in Guitar Hero III, with over 80 different finishes.

Perhaps the biggest news though, is that the Gibson Les Paul controller appears to be the first third-party peripheral to interact with the Wii Remote. As seen in this promotional photo, the Wii Remote snaps into the face of the controller. It is not yet known, however, if the guitar sports its own tilt sensor, or if it uses the Wii Remote's built in accelerometer.

Ok, that's freaking awesome. Bout time we used the Wiimote in 3rd party peripherals.

Heh. They used to actually have a cast member go grab it out of the fake recording booth.

So it'll be cheaper right? Oooh... I gotta start budgeting for this game.

I think they still do most of the time, though I haven't been for a few months, IIRC, almost every time, someone in there grabs it, but sometimes, no one is in there.

Those light gun attachments don't interface with the Wiimote, they just have the wiimote snap into it. They're not using it to transmit any special data.

Also, I doubt it'll be cheaper. They will sell it for the same price as the other models, only it'll cost less to make, meaning a higher profit margin.

Not the one I just bought - you plug the remote in and it has a port for the nunchuck at the bottom of the holster. It's a full-fledged attachment, not just a shell..

If the GH3 guitar costs the same as all the others, I'm boycotting the Wii version.  They need to pass along those savings to us.

Man, they don't have to pay for a wire, a tilt sensor or wireless hardware.  It better cost no more than Guitar Hero II on the PS2 did.

Of course, I'm just going to get GHIII for the PS2 anyway.  I already own two guitar controllers; and I'm going to go broke buying rock band for the 360.

Does the shell/attachment actually have any buttons or anything on it that interfaces with the Wii Controller, or does it simply have a pass through port that allows you to connect the Nunchuck into the Wii Controller while docked?

What about the costs of engineering the attachment?

It has a trigger that acts as the B button.

Does it just use some kind of lever system to click the B Button or does it actually act as a whole new B button?

This game better cost $20-$30 cheaper than the versions on the other systems.
$10 cheaper automatically since the actual game is $50 and not $60,
Plus another $10-$20 cheaper for the guitar since it uses the Wiimote as a part of the component.

Besides if they did charge it cheaper that would give incentive for more people to pick up the Wii version, which would mean everyone would need new guitars and therefore they would make more $$$$$, especially from those people that might already have guitars for the 360 or PS2.

Are you guys talking about the cost of extra guitars or the whole package: guitar + game?

because i thought we already had confirmation that the wii version was cheaper, even than the PS2 version, at $89.99 (every other platform was getting it for $99.99)
