NES Collector's Noteworthy eBay Auction...
« on: September 14, 2005, 10:30:40 AM »
Occasionaly an eBay auction pops up that is relativly note-worth among NES and Nintendo collectors... I think this is one of them, as this cart isn't too common and doesn't show up very often.

The Nintendo World ChampionshipCartridge.

It's the more common "Grey" version, but still... an interesting item...

(Please note, this isn't my auction - if I had this item, I would *never* be willing to part with it!  I'd sell my Liver first. )

Oh my god, $5,700 for a NES game? Call me stupid, but it IS a Nintendo game, maybe it will be available for download on the Rev.?

*Note: Never played this game, never even knew it existed. I don't even know what its about.

It's not even really an NES game, persay.  It's a special promotional cartridge that was used in the 1990 Nintendo World Championship.  It consists of three "levels" (one being SMB1, one being Rad Racer and One being Tetris) and the (basic) idea is to get more points that the others playing in the limited amount of time you're given.

While it would be neat to see this (and other such promotional things) for download, I doubt it'll happen.

Ahh, it ain't a game then. Well, definately not gonna be for download.

Still, this makes the price even stupider...$5,700 for a Nes cartridge, that only has 3 levels?

Don't think of it as $5.7K for a NES cartridge with only 3 levels.  Think of it as something that's rare (I think only 100 of these were made, and maybe only 3 Gold ones, or something like that) and part of the history of something you love (namely, Nintendo).
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

It's all about the collectivity of it.

Here's some more detailed info on it.

Well I'm intrigued.  I wonder if this was included in the PA Omega collection I missed out on...  They said they completed the collection and it had every NA NES game in it...

Somehow I don't think it included this one.

It's not a real Nintendo endorsed game. From what I believe it is a fan made Zelda. They hacked the original NES Zelda and made an entirely new game.

As much as people are willing to pay for it. Since hacks aren't officially made and can be replicated as often as you want the collector's value is probably below zero.
