Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mortal Kombat Deception coming to cube!
« on: August 24, 2004, 06:04:19 AM »
Slow sales won't be due to it's later release date, if I own a PS2 or Xbox, why would I want the GC version even if it came out on time? So I can play with the inferior fighting controls the GC control provides? So I can play the offline version? So I can hook it up to the GBA I don't own and unlock MKIII? (Whoop-dee-doo!)

It's better than GC not getting it, but at this point does it matter?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: How do you play your FPS?
« on: August 03, 2004, 07:35:51 AM »
Ideally, I play FPS games with a mouse. You get MUCh better aiming percision that way.

But on a controller I perfer the 'Turok' method to the 'GE' style.

I think some are confused on the differances. In both 'strafe' are mapped to buttons. The difference is looking/aiming up/down. In GE that's mapped to buttons too, where as in the Turok style that's part of the control stick. So in Turok style the stick looks around while the buttons move you around (similar to the PC mouse setup).

LMFAO... garbage like that just makes me laugh so hard. So if you disagree with someone that makes it okay to steal form them? HAHAHAHA! If you want to "boycott" them, go ahead. Just don't think the alternative is to download MP3's.

You're just trying to justify to yourself that there's nothing wrong with taking for free something someone has worked hard on. Please. I hope if you ever do/make anything that someone steals if from you after all the hard work you put into it...

The B-sides to Anthem is better than Anthem itself? Hmm... Oh yeah, 1) Hello Rockview 2) Losing Streak 3) Anthem....

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Who here's interested in Geist?
« on: July 25, 2004, 08:33:42 PM »
Man... Space Station Sillicon Valley was a great game. That was a "thinking man's" platformer, so if that's what Geist is the FPS genre, it might be something afterall... But for now it's nothing I'm really looking forward to. WAY too many great FPS's coming out between now and Geist for me to really care.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Metroid Prime 2!!...2!...2......
« on: July 25, 2004, 08:22:38 PM »
I really think Metroid should of stayed a single player experience, but whatever. As long as the main game doesn't suffer as a result. Let them eat cake, err add that mode.

BUT like hinted at above, I don't get how it will work? Prime doesn't have "normal" FPS controls unfortuently. It's based on a 'lock-on' system. How much fun can deathmatch be when you can lock onto someone and kill them without even trying? Well.... we'll see I guess.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: PSO: Episode I and II Plus
« on: July 21, 2004, 08:32:08 PM »
Bah! PSO ep. 3 is a good game! I hate card games, but since this is more of a strategy battle game, I found it enjoyable.

For those with PSO Ep. 1&2 is Plus worth getting? Especially if all you use it for is to play online? (Not that I've played online in over 2 months... but... doesn't hurt to ask, I hope.)

Everything Goes Numb was probably my favorite CD from last year. It's an awesome album. Right up there with some of my other favorite ska albums: Catch 22 - Keasbey Nights, Goldfinger - Hang-Ups, Bosstones - Question the Answers, Operation Ivy, ect.

I too though am sick of peopel saying punk (or ska/punk) is dead. Just because they don't play it on your radio doesn't mean there isn't good {stuff} out there. Just bands like New Found Glory have given it a bad name when stations go around calling it "punk".

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Baten Kaitos
« on: July 08, 2004, 10:49:23 AM »
Maybe I'm mistaken, but maybe the reason is that Baten Kaitos seems like a very niche title. Not something that's usually 'hyped'. The battle system is based on cards, which doesn't appeal to everyone (especially here in the US). I know it doesn't interest me.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: sort of dissapointed
« on: July 07, 2004, 12:22:17 PM »
Even with it's problems, Live is an excellent service, and all things considered, it's really not that expensive. 50 bucks or so for a year to play online is worth it for me. Just ignore the punks and you can play hours on end...

But all i really wanted to say was even if you don't like MS (for whatever odd reason you can make up), that doesn't give you the right to 'steal' there stuff... for shame!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Is SquareEnix ignoring GC?
« on: July 07, 2004, 12:17:44 PM »
Who isn't ignoring GC these days? Everything coming to GC Nintendo is involved in some way, from FF:CC to MGS:TS to heck, even Madden...

I don't think ONE company could change the forutunes of GC. If SquareEnix was to make more games for GC, not much would be different.

All I've heard is that the main line of FF games (all that really matters) would stay only on Ps2. And the reason so far they've stayed away from Xbox is because SquareEnix is a very Japanese company, where Xbox does aweful.

General Chat / RE: A world without Sony...
« on: July 01, 2004, 09:02:02 PM »
If Sony left, someone new would rise up and take their place. They wouldn't dominate, MS and Xbox is in the best position right now to make a move at Sony's spot, but some other manufactur out there would see Sony leaving as opening a spot for them. Maybe the Apple iGame...

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Golden Sun for Gamecube?
« on: July 01, 2004, 08:54:52 PM »
Golden Sun is one of my favorte games on GBA (I consider both to be just one giant game).

BUT I do worry about it's jump to a full fledged console. GS was great as a GBA game, take the exact same game, and people do have a point that it's a run-of-the-mill RPG. (For example, I didn't find Wario Ware on GC to be nearly as interesting as it was on GBA.)

So I'm hoping that they greatly expand upon what was done on the GBA. Rehauling the entire battle system would be a nice start.

I'm not the biggest AC fan, but I'd like to see a sequel.

Though I'd rather they wait for The Rev. Not because it needs the extra graphical prowress (though I do hope they GREATLY improve the visuals), but if The Rev is as revolutionary as Nintendo wants us to believe, they might be able to do something really cool with AC2. At the very least it HAS to be online. The game is about communication afterall...

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mario Kart Bonus disc screwing
« on: November 19, 2003, 12:15:13 PM »
I preordered at Best Buy... got home and realized it didn't say anything about Bonus Disc Inside! So I went back.. and was told they were out of them! AHH! So why did I preorder? HOWEVER, just down the block was a K-Mart and I figureed what the heck, who goes to K-Mart for games... and sure enough, they had bunch of MKDD with bonus disc packages. Now I just have to get my 5 bucks back from BB... Try other stores (like NOW) and see if they have them in.

I don't think Nintendo's demo disc system is that bad. Well that one with SC2 and Viewtiful Joe was a joke since ONLY new GC buyers got it, unless you paid 10 bucks at TRU or something. But TWW and MKDD ones I think are nice bonus for those people. Same for the Zelda collectors set.

Remember, no one else gives these out for free! Anyone can get the Xbox ones, but yiou have to pay for them....

I think you're the only one that thinks that. It's unfair to call it a "failure" (but if you compare it to past Nintendo machines...), but a *huge* success? I don't think so. Only the PS2 has been a *huge* success ouselling GC (and XB) by millions. You could even argue Xbox has been since it's come from nowhere to be a major contender.

And you can no longer just say, "Well they are still profitable!" Since just today Nintendo announced that for the 6 months from April-September they posted their first ever net lose (about 7 billon yen). A first ever net lose for a company doesn't sound like a *huge* success to me. But the good news is this seems to have awoken Nintendo (finally) and change is starting to come (agressive ad campaign. price drop, ect.)

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Eidos drops all Gamecube support
« on: September 05, 2003, 09:02:53 AM »
GC is doing okay for now (in terms of game selection), but if this trend keeps up, where another 3rd party publisher drops GC every other month, where will GC be in the next 2-3 years before "N5" comes out?

However much I really like some of my GC games, I'd be pissed if I couldn't play the next Burnout, Hitman, ASB, Soul Reaver, ect. The big Nintendo blockbuster that comes out every 4 months just isnt enough to keep me happy. I couldn't stand it of all I owned was a GC.

And Edios didn't say Nintendo was a declining business, they said GAMECUBE was. And I find it hard to disagree. With a smaller and smaller selection (compared to others), no GTA, no online, ect, ect. Besides the diehard Nintendo/Mario/Zelda fan (who I bet already has a GC), who would go out today and get a GC over PS2 or Xbox? Not many. How well would of SC2 done on GC without link? Not well and that's sad.

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo Sales and Profits Fall Again
« on: May 22, 2003, 10:00:04 AM »
GC seems a lost cause (in terms of the public's perception of it and getting them to buy it), but at least it seems Nintendo knows this. Like it says, Nintendo needs to keep current owners happy and just prepare for "GC2".

It does seem Nintendo is already moving it's focus to "GC2". 3rd parties cancelling games left and right. Announcing "GC2" at E3. Focusing on GC-GBA to see how the publci reacts in order to see how they might incorporate it into "GC2". Moving Mario 128 (and a few other games that disappeared) over to "GC2" to help ensure it has a great selection right out of the gate... or so my theory goes.

Nintendo is in no major trouble yet. But they can't go on forever missing sale projections by 37-44% and expect to stay profitable. They are definitely in need of an image makeover. Things have changed. Now they need to keep that up and make sure everyone knows about it.

TalkBack / Buy a GameCube, get the Game Boy Player FREE
« on: May 15, 2003, 10:20:31 PM »
In a way Sony is doing something similar. Instead of dropping the price of PS2, they are including the modem.... which in turn caused them to lower the price of the PS2's without the modem.

So the question is... does Nintendo plan to drop the price of the GC's that don't come with the GBA player? Or is it the GC's without the player still get one of those free games but those with the player don't? Or.... what exactly (just curious is all).

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Geist: Coolest game style ever!
« on: May 14, 2003, 09:54:59 PM »
Geist sounds better then Half-Life or Halo? WTF? H-L still stands as my favorite single player FPS,  HL2 might change that though.... And Halo is probably the best console FPS there is (at least top 3).

I don't know much about Geist, but I dont have the {{guts}} to say it sounds better then two of the best FPS games ever.

Anyone hear/see anything about Sega's Aiai (from Super Monkey Ball) being in MKDD? I read somewhere else that he was seen in the game. Playable racer? What?

http://www.gamerfeed.com/index.php?story=3194

And I hope there is 8 GC's hookup LAN ability. No way does this mean 32 players, it just means each of the 8 players can have their own, full-screen to play on. Plus this way if GameSpy would take it online, it *might* be fun (if just 2 GC's ability, 1-on-1 online racing wouldn't be much fun).

TalkBack / Entertainment Weekly Names Zelda All-Time Top Game
« on: May 07, 2003, 11:46:14 AM »
You can't make everyone happy, and that's the beauty of 'lists'. Plus for a non-gaming mag, it's not that bad. And I gained some respect (SOME) for Christina Aguilara when shs says Super Money Ball 2 is her favorite.

Personally, my #1 would of been Half-Life (and all that is H-L like Counter Strike), but Zelda is a fine choice of course (my #2).

It's good to see Tetris at #3 and even Doom at #2. Plus it was really nice to see Punch-Out on there even if down at like #53 (why didn't Nintendo list this game in their press release?).

As for GTA. Come on, it's a great game series. I'm sorry if you Nintendo only owners disagree. Maybe #4 is too high, but might of made my top 10, maybe. Still you must remember this list seems to take into account not just what are great games, but games that made an impact on the gaming industy (like Doom and Tetris did). And no game has helped insure PS2's dominace as GTA has.

Nintendo Gaming / New Zelda for GameCube... by Capcom?
« on: May 02, 2003, 12:09:42 PM »
I've seen a number of rumors floating around that a new Zelda will be announced at E3 (and playable at Spaceworld), just that it will be developed by Capcom?!! It will be a more "realistic" style like the Link footage shown at a past E3 (or was it Spaceworld).

It's one thing to shell out franchises like F-Zero and Star Fox to outside developers to do, but this is Zelda! Probably Nintendo's best and most respected franchise! I'm not sure I like this... no, I DON'T like this.... if true. Cacpom already has done 2 Zelda's for GB (and a 3rd for GBA is coming), so they do have 'experience' with it. Blarg.

Maybe it's just a rumor.... but this same source said two weeks back that Silicon Knights was doing MGS...... Quiter.

TalkBack / Metal Gear Solid Confirmed for GameCube!
« on: May 01, 2003, 07:58:55 AM »
I have to agree with a lot of these posts so far. How ever much I like SK, WTF? Why isn't Konami doing it (I guess did we really believe they would make a game for GC that didn't have Mickey in it)? I said it before but I did NOT want MGS on GC to be developed by Nintendo in any way. Plus it just means SK time spent on this and not some other new or Too Human game.

Then again since it really is just a remake, I don't care either way.
