I'M BACK / RE:The Man In The Picture
« on: August 10, 2006, 02:43:04 PM »
Just on time, I got an email with some other jokes.  This was probably my favorite.

A Greek and an Italian were drinking coffee one day discussing who had the superior
culture.

Over triple lattes the Greek guy says, "Well, we have the Parthenon".

Arching his eyebrows the Italian replies, "We have the Coliseum."

The Greek retorts, "We Greeks gave birth to advanced mathematics."

The Italian, nodding in agreement, says, "But we built the Roman Empire."

And so on and so on until the Greek comes up with what he thinks will end the
discussion.

With a flourish of finality he says, "We invented sex!"

The Italian replies, "That is true, but it was the Italians who introduced it to
women."

Some of these jokes are pretty funny.    Here's one we refer to a lot at work..
---

A guy dies and is sent to Hell.

Satan meets him, shows him doors to three rooms, and says he must choose one spend eternity in.

In the first room, people are standing in crap up to their necks. The guy says "no, let me see the next room."

In the second room, people are standing with crap up to their noses. Guy says no again.

Finally, Satan opens the door to the third room. People are standing with crap up to their knees, drinking coffee and eating danish pastries. The guy says, "I pick this room."

Satan says okay and starts to leave, and the guy wades in and starts pouring some coffee.

On the way out Satan yells, "O.K., coffee break's over. Everyone back on your heads!"

Actually it looks like the fish space ship was from Darius, but the catboat is definitely from Parodius.

What's the cat boat shooting the laser at the fish space ship from?

That image is awesome.  It's currently my wallpaper, although I can no longer see my icons because of it.  It's a worthy price to pay!

According to Amazon there will be another release in mid/late August.  I don't know how accurate their dates are, but as I have one preordered, I'm hoping it's accurate.

I saw a copy of Electroplankton new (!!) at my local gamestop, but I didn't pick it up because I'm dumb.  It was gone by the next day when I came to my senses.

I have no idea how they ended up with that copy.

'Cause my supervisor just asked me to bring my DS Lite to work tomorrow and show her Brain Age because she's really considering getting a DS Lite especially for it.

My aunt who is in her 60s just bought a DS Lite after playing Big Brain Academy on mine.  She later sent me a picture of my 86 year old grandmother playing sudoku on the DS Lite.

Family reunions are going to become multiplayer events soon.

I went by my TRU last night and the sales associate had no idea how to do the download.  He pulled out the download station while trying to figure things out, so I got to check it out.

Fortunately, I remembered enough of this post to stumble through the process, but they were also closing when I got there, so I only got one of the items.  Now that I know the drill, I'll have to stop by later this week to try to get the rest of the set.  My house isn't quite big enough for the item I got,  though.

The sales associate was nice enough to let me stick around until I figured it out, even though it was quite a bit after closing by the time I was done.

Slightly off topic, what is the tag for creating spoiler text?

Hopefully no one gets that excited, I'm probably older than most of you, and I already have a boyfriend.

On the other hand, I've played MMOs enough that I'm pretty hard to frighten.

Black/Pink DSes: I have a feeling it would look better with the pink clamshell, and the black inside/binding.  And I think it might look just as good with the black/light blue.  The bottom looks easy to remove, but I'd be afraid of digging out the square caps for the top.  Seems like on cell phones those caps never go back quite right.

Trauma Center: I'm on Chapter 5 and have hit the "operate on 5 people in 10 minutes" and after trying it once haven't tried again recently.  I need to sit down and try it again, but I've been checking out new games and finishing up Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

I just got Trace Memory and I love it!  I really like how they use all the DS features to help solve the puzzles.

Error Messages: I got it while posting the original post about Opera for the DS, but haven't gotten it on the followup posts, iirc.

I found a video that shows what the browser is like, but it is in Japanese.  However, it is a good visual demonstration of what the browser will be able to do.

It also apparently comes with a memory cartridge for the GBA slot.

The announcement of the price being about 1/2-1/3 the price of the other consoles is enough to keep me excited for a while.

Nice to meet you as well!    I saw the crack thread and have been keeping a hawk eye on my dsl ever since.  So far, no signs of cracking, but the black ones did come out later than the white ones.  Might just take a bit longer for them to develop.  :/

I keep toying around with the idea of getting a pink one from Japan and making a pink/black hybrid dsl.  I think I'm too scared of taking the covers off to actually go through with it.

I'm actually borrowing the Trauma Center from a friend.  However, according to Amazon, there will be another wave of Trauma Center available August 22nd.  I'm not sure how accurate Amazon is, but I'm going to wait and see if I can get a copy then.  Amazon is taking preorders for it right now.

They're also doing preorders for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which they say will be available September 16th.

I really hope they're right, but I don't have an experience with their predicted dates.

As for the ds thing, im there pretty often. Do you have any wifi games? I am completely addicted to mph and would like to add you if you have it.

I haven't tried wifi out yet, so I haven't really paid attention to which of my games support it, although I know Animal Crossing does.  I don't have Metroid Prime, though.  I've only had my DS Lite for a couple of weeks; I lucked out and my housemate got me a black one from Europe the day they came out.    I seem to be acquiring games at an alarming rate though...

I just finished Mario & Luigi Partners in Time and am about 2/3rds of the way through Trauma Center.  I also have the requisite copies of Brain Age and Big Brain Academy.  Rounding out the collection are Kirby's Canvas Curse, the aforementioned Animal Crossing, and Super Princess Peach.  I've also been playing around with Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.  And I have Trace Memory on its way.

Are there any rules for posting reader reviews?  I was considering posting some for the games I've completed.

I'm not sure who Bill is, but I am a female.     And yes, Anne is my real name.
I realized after I chose my forum name/avatar that perhaps it wasn't the best fit for a nintendo forum.    Disgaea could come out for the DS though..right?  :|

Sorry for the initial avatar size, by the way.  I looked for guidelines around the "choose an avatar" area, but didn't see any.  Mea culpa for not looking more thoroughly.

BTW, I get a forum error every time I post.
ERROR INFORMATION:

Hi all!

I've been lurking for a bit and finally signed up for an account.  I've mostly been hanging around the DS forum, as I am a complete DS junkie.

Nice to "meet" you all.

Your avatar is too large.  It can only be a maximum of 100 x 100 pixels and no more than 20 kb.

Oops, fixed.  Thanks for the heads up.  I'll stop by and say hi on the forums.

They've announced the dates that the Opera Browser for the DS will be available.

July 24th for Japan, and October 6th for Europe and the US.

The Opera browser for Nintendo DS will be sold as an optional DS card. Users simply insert the card into the Wi-Fi enabled Nintendo DS, connect to a network, and begin browsing on two screens.
