Nintendo Gaming / RE:How do you play your FPS?
« on: August 01, 2004, 10:55:18 AM »
during the N64 era, the GOLDENEYE/PERFECT DARK set up was the bomb.  it was perfect because you use the analog for moving foward/backward and turning while the digital for looking up/down and strafing.  but in the GCN era, it setup feel inferior because of the dual analog.  its better to use the left analog for moving forward/backward and strafing while the right analog for looking up/down and turning.  the reason for this because its better to use the right analog to control the camera, aka the gun.

c. Rare is no longer on board
d. Nintendo uses a lot of freedom with their games, Miyamoto said they make the game first and add a plot later, this wouldn't work properly with licensed games, especially if you have stupid execs without a f###ing clue about game design that want to throw in certain aspects of the movie that have absolutely no place in a video game.
e. Nintendo never delivers on time. That wouldn't be a problem if the stupid execs didn't expect the game to ship the very same moment as the movie. Personally I'm fine with games coming out a long time later, especially since the older the movie the more faded your memory and the more willing you are to accept liberties taken.

a.  hey so was GOLDENEYE 007 and yet it keep topping the charts from month after month after month.  why would WB complain if the games are only exclusive to one console and yet it still manage to sell compared to a multiplatform one and its on the bottom of the sales chart.

b.  it could be true but know one really approach NINTENDO for their licence property except KONAMI.  NINTENDO(SK) develop THE TWIN SNAKES internally.  if someone like WB make a deal with them do you think they will not accept it??? maybe or maybe not.

c.  yeah i know RARE isn't with them anymore but hey NINTENDO can get someone like N-SPACE or KUJU very easy and make them the next RARE.

d.  so was METAL GEAR and yet it work.

e.  that is true but NINTENDO is improving on schedules.  i cant remember when the last game that they ever delay a game on GCN or GBA line.  it is always on time now.

if WB is really concern about the quality of their properties, they should only look at one publisher and that publisher is NINTENDO...  comon tell me one movie to game better than GOLDENEYE 007.  i think this is the only properties that NINTENDO ever gotten base in a movie.  NINTENDO and RARE didn't fumble it, they nailed especially with the REVIEWS and GAME SALES.

heres from IGN

"IGN: What happened to Silicon Knights?

Perrin Kaplan: They are going to continue the business of what they do. We respect the work that they have done. They are a really, really good team. I just think Nintendo and Silicon Knights have slightly different priorities, which does happen in business quite frequently. But we have a lot of mutual respect for each other.

IGN: We just bumped into Denis Dyack, president of Silicon Knights, as he was on his way into a Nintendo meeting. So what kind of plot are you hatching?

Perrin Kaplan: There is nothing that precludes us from having a relationship. I mean, they may make a product for DS or otherwise. But it's just purely as a second-party -- that part of the relationship has changed."

i guess this seal the deal huh... from what i understand, SK is now a 3rd party except NINTENDO still publish some or all of their games.  thats why i kinda understand why NINTENDO didn't made a big deal about it because they still have a strong relationship compared to LEFT FIELD and RARE.

so im indeed excited for SK's next product which NINTENDO POWER refers to.

yeah you know what... i think this comes down to the contract expiring.  IGN just probably jump into conclusion right away or maybe this is just NINTENDO plan to have a huge impact on the company's image on E3.  oh man, im so excited for E3.

DS, NEW TITLES, NEW SURPRISE, METROID PRIME:  ECHOES and RESIDENT EVIL 4... oh i just cant wait.

oh and about the COSTUMER SERVICE thingie... thank you whoever you are for responding to that 'cuz you just nailed it perfectly.  oh and NINTENDO POWER thingie... heeeeeeeeeell yeaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Silicon Knights are gone folks, unless something shocking happens in the next week.

uhmmm... NINTENDO didn't go along with it.  the last time i heard that there were no official announcement therefore the stock wont change because the investor weren't awere about it.  MATT from IGN said that the official announcement are going to be sometime in the future until the papers are sign but the problem is, why did they claim it as a news when nothing are sign and official yet.  it just doesn't make sense when a fansite get the heads up first before the official source.  plus BLOODWORTH i think from PLANETGAMECUBE claim it was true story from one of the tread that it was coming from DYACK himself from a "phone conversation."  no press conference but "phone conversation."

either way... if it ends up true, i wont stress about it cuz i can finally afford two console next time around anyways.

EXACTLY... i already pointed this out, i guess no one read it.  why would a stock goes down when the company never officially say it??? the prank could still work especially if u pull it out from a site like IGNCUBE.com and not from NINTENDO.com.  no harm done and thats the difference.  the only way i could think of that NINTENDO would make it official in E3 if SK align with SONY or MICROSOFT and they just waited for them to drop the bomb by them.  beside if SK does became 3rd party, i think their relationship is kinda like CAMELOT anyways.

if you look under news, the last update to the page was may 1, 2003.  the last update before that was september 10, 2002.  apparently sk doesn't have the greatest webmaster in the world.

thought i'd point that out.

Like someone mentioned on another forum, Twin Snakes was important enough that SK updated their site. I think them breaking from Nintendo would also be important enough for them to take the Nintendo logo down, and besides, it would only take seconds.

EXACTLY... remember the RARE fiasco???  RARE updated their site right away and so is NINTENDO.com after they parted ways.  but in this situatiom, IGN is the only site that are aware of this situation.  it is too strange to let it go and beside, it would be stupid to wait for E3 to make an official announcement.

back to IGN, they knew RARE was leaving but they put it under rumour until NINTENDO made it official.  but in this case IGN made it a news before NINTENDO made it an official... this doesn't add up.  shouldn't a company call a press conference first before any publication could report the news.  that bothers me.  all we know that IGN contact DYACK and a NINTENDO REPRESENTATIVE for the news but it doensn't sound official to me.  not just yet.

also, i dont think stock would affect both companies because there are no official announcement.  until there are no press conferrence, i aint sold yet.

this topic is getting interesting... too bad E3 is a little bit too far away to really know the truth... i was thinkin' that if SILICON KNIGHT is indeed going 3rd party, it looks like KONAMI and NINTENDO would be their main publisher.  it seems that they have a good strong relationship to really end it all.  lets just hope that SK doesn't end up partnering someone like EIDOS, MIDWAY or ACCLAIM or it will be another CRYSTAL DYNAMICS fiasco where they got screwed over the LEGACY OF KAIN franchise.  but im still convince that most SK title's are gonna be in a NINTENDO platform though regardless who the publisher is.

EA and UBISOFT aint bad choice too.

the more i read about a SK/NINTENDO break up topic, the more it is getting weird.  its either the fans are mirroring the TUPAC's 7 YRS THEORY or this could be the best prank in video game history.  ahhhhhh i just want the official press release people.  RARE and LEFT FIELD had one on the day it was done while SK didn't and still haven't... odd.

14
i think they should sell all their western company and be strictly japanese 'cuz NORTH AMERICA want to play the next ANIMAL CROSSING type game...  who needs violence where we could just communicate with the AI in the virtual world and let us play scavenger hunt all day long.  who needs SQUARE-ENIX, CAPCOM or KONAMI 'cuz they spend too much money on technology and story development.  everyone knows that those type of games dont sell.  heck those games cant even sell compare to all MARIO games.  MARIO should be the the measuring stick for NINTENDO... if a company cant sell their games like MARIO, they should be consider a failure.  heck MARIO dont need advertising, he just sell himself.  why cant other company such as SILICON KNIGHT sell their games???

they should get a bunch of no name small companies who likes simple graphics but are good in play mechanics... a company that requires only one button game to make it fun.  holy cow, KIRBY AIR RIDE was a hit.  everything should be on text base 'cuz it will teach kids to read.  oh and the story should be revolving on kidnapping for no apparent reason and the main character should save her just to get the plot moving.  plus, dont make it too graphic 'cuz it will get them in trouble.  the game should be super easy so that it wont offend the little kids who are stuck in one level... and make it short like 6:00 hrs too complete 'cuz no one likes to play games that would last 59:00hrs to complete.  if any companies that fit my description should contact NINTENDO... that is my dream company that would replace SILICON KNIGHT.

oh yeah, who needs online right NINTENDO.  we could just carry a console and a our portable tv to play multiplayer to our friends house 'cuz u said that was everyone wants to do this days.

How ironic...Who was the one saying that they weren't buying Ninty's next system because SK left?

You sorta dont understand what I said earlier.

I'm not a major fan of SK at all. But they had MAJOR potetiontal and its a sad loss. The reasons I might not buy GCNext is for a number of little reasons.

3rd parties just keep dropping off.
All exclusives can be found on another console.
1st party games are a dissapointment when compared to thier pedecessor.

Im afraid this stuff wont improve next generation.

Also I sorta see Metroid Prime as a killer App

yeah man... i sorta agree with you.  3rd parties situation isn't really change.  its true that CAPCOM, NAMCO, UBISOFT and EA are giving us games but not all of them.  i still see games from them that is only found on PS2 or XBOX but the bad thing is, those games showing up on other console is a killer app type game while GCN get the left overs.  RESIDENT EVIL 4 seems to be the only one that stands out.  but then we got a bunch of remakes, bad ports and games that would make little kids happy.

1st party games isn't really encouraging either.  im no graphic whore but it seems NINTENDO isn't even trying to make their games look pretty.  the sequals plays like thesame and the plot of their game is for kindergarten student.

games that i dont have problem with is MELEE, WIND WAKER, SUNSHINE and PRIME.  but the rest are just throw backs... nothing more but a quick buck.

NST has been disapointment with BLUE STORM and AVALANCHE... ill bet they just used the old N64 engine and optimize it for GCN.  their are no new play mechanic like what they did with MELEE... all i see is just thesame old same old.  (why cant we get rid of NST instead of SK... NST haven't done anything breath taking other than updating old games.  ex:  RIDGE RACER 64, BLUE STORM, AVALANCHE, CHRYSTALIS, BIONIC COMMANDO and etc.  i swear that they haven't even made an original game yet.)

KIRBY AIR RIDE suck, POKEMON CHANNEL suck, COLLESEUM looks like an N64 game... so does MARIO GOLF, PARTY and KART...  MARIO KART is the same old game except for character switching... thats it.

PIKMIN and ANIMAL FOREST are new... but the problem is that they didn't make the graphics be more appealing to the mainstream...  if they did, more copies would have been sold.

HAL LABRATORIES doesn't make games other than KIRBY and SMASH BROS franchise.  and their head guy just ditch them.

nothing new with EAD.  probably just making another MARIO or ZELDA game that would upset the loyalist again.

INTELLIGENT SYSTEM and BROWNIE BROWN only makes game for gameboy.

RETRO STUDIO is the only company that has a bright future... but then again, they will probably be making METROID game for the rest of their career.

SILICON KNIGHT is the probably the only company with them that try to make an original game but they had to let them go.

arggghhhh... GCNEXT doesn't sound too hot either.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Factor 5 Drops Nintendo!
« on: April 14, 2004, 06:58:23 PM »
although that im very upset by the news reporting this days, there is still hope that NINTENDO can still pick some of their games.  both FACTOR 5 and SILICON KNIGHT are stating that they are not abandoning NINTENDO altogether.  maybe NINTENDO are trying a publisher and developer relationship here.  they dont have to own a studio to get exlusive game from them, just to fund the game that they are publishing... kinda like what they are trying to do with N SPACE, KUJU and ZOONAMI.  i guess the era of 2nd party are dead after seeing LEFT FIELD STUDIO and RARE being sold by NINTENDO.

since SILICON KNIGHT is my fav studio, i guess its time for me to buy more than one console then... arggghh, this suck.

arggghhh this suck... instead of a guarunted game coming from SILICON KNIGHT to a NINTENDO console are now in the hands of a PUBLISHER.  instead of saying "yeaaaaaaaaah TOO HUMAN is coming to GCN" are now turn into this "maaaaaaaaan i hope TOO HUMAN is coming to GCN."  this is BS.  NINTENDO is loosing exclusivity and yet they haven't fix their 3rd party problems yet.  things like this makes me wonder why im still a big supporter for them.  it looks i wont be buying one console next generation comes... arggggggh... suck

^^^  whoaaa whoaaa calm down buddy, breath breath.  jeeeez... ya'll acted that NAMCO just cancel the TALES game.  you can still buy it and you can still play it.  lol...  anyways, we will still see future NAMCO games as well as future CAPCOM or UBISOFT.  they didn't pull the plug, they just ported it to PS2.  thats it.  calm down.  that is why you dont expect too much from 3rd parties... we all be lucky if we get to have a time exclusive (like PS2 is doing) or a port.  deal with it.

i rather have a number of small new 3rd parties with potential by NINTENDO side than an old 3rd parties any time 'cuz you might never know that they will come up the next POKEMON, GTA, or HALO.

lol... you are right.  hey what can you do.  they are a big 3rd party publisher who doesnt care about loyalty 'cuz making money is very important to stay on business.  (ex:  ROCKSTAR on GTA franchises.)  some people in here are over reacting a bit by saying "NINTENDO should shut them down from making GBA games."  you cant do that anymore 'cuz by doing that, you will do more harm than helping.  they should still get friendly with them in order to get consideration next time around.  thats the stategy.

they dont need an exclusive big 3rd party franchise from a big 3rd party publisher aslong they can secure a time exclusive or a port.  thats the only thing that matters and the 1st and 2nd party games from NINTENDO.  but i like what NINTENDO are doing right now... they are shopping around for a small independent talent who has potential to bring a huge games... (KUJU, NSPACE, ZOONAMI, ALPHA DREAM, ETC.)  i would rather have a brand new exclusive franchises than an old existing one any day.  that is how u gain exclusive and LOYALTY from a 3rd party 'cuz big publisher doesn't give you one.  my 2 cent.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Paper Mario2 announced!!!

i was hoping for ALPHA DREAM but hey INTELLIGENT SYSTEM will do.  they are pretty good development group.  comon, ADVANCE WARS, FIRE EMBLEM and PAPER MARIO in their resume, how can you go wrong with that.

SQUARE??? meh, i hate SQUARE after playing CRYSTAL CHRONICLES.   how in the world did the last boss battle last almost 2 hours to beat.  the first boss was pretty simple up until in the 3rd form... then this stupid RAEM guy comes in and no save point in between whos freakin' hit (the real boss) takes 1/4 of my life each time and his crewny takes 2 hearts for one hit and i only have 7 hearts in all with a crappy weapon, armour and artifacts...   nice going SQUARE no balance at all.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:what do u think of KUJU???
« on: March 25, 2004, 06:31:54 PM »
speaking of pushing GCN to the limit... PRODUCTION STUDIO 4 is the king IMO.  name a game that is better looking than RESIDENT EVIL 4 in GCN.  in cell shaded area, only WIND WAKER can up stage VIEWTIFUL JOE.

for SQUARE's case, i didn't seen anything special in CRYSTAL CHRONICLES other than they are very good artist.  fur shaded has been done by RARE with STARFOX so i wasn't blown by it.  but then again, CC was there first game so... its pretty impressive.  just like FACTOR 5 with ROUGE LEADER 2.  keeping 60 fps with so many things going on the screen at thesame time, the polygon count is also up there.  they finish the game in less than a year is screaming talent to me.

ummmm, i think it is related...  just follow this link to be sure what game im talking about

http://cube.ign.com/articles/389/389570p1.html

the weird thing is that when 3DO were selling all their franchises because they were bankrupt they didn't sell FOUR HORSEMAN... it just disappear for some reasong and its one of their biggest game coming out.  maybe their was some major dealing behind the scene and keep it secret 'til E3 perhaps??? we just dont know.

OH about FACTOR 5... i think they are talented.  i just dont why some people said other wise.  if NINTENDO can take them under their wings, just look out.  they will be even better.  same thing with N SPACE and KUJU...  they just all need guidance right now and NINTENDO is the best at it...  they got RARE, RETRO, SILICON KNIGHT as the proof.

think about it "a good player can never be great without the guidance of a coach"
