Yeah heh I didn't know if one was going to be made and this is the kind of stuff I eat up, so I wanted it in text. I've been pointed to Nintendo.com now and they have one too http://www.nintendo.com/gamedev?gameid=m-Game-0000-1849 so I give up. Keep up the good work.

Hey, I just wanted to thank Planet Gamecube for providing the mp3 audio of Aonuma's speech (as read by Bill Trinen of course). I listened to the whole thing, and even got halfway done with a text transcript before IGN posted their's last night. I think I'm going to try to finish it so if someone from PGC isn't working on one, then I guess I could e-mail the staff if they're interested,  if I get it done.

NCL's website also explains that Link's Awakening is a continuation of A Link to the Past
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n02/dmg/azlj/sutori.html
and a few other sources
http://advofhyrule.racknine.net/storyfaq.html#latakeplace

TWW having an ocean with Link on a boat and Link's Awakening having Link on boat are just similar ideas used and not directly related to each other, although certainly it wouldn't be surprising if Link being on a boat on the ocean in TWW is a bit of a throwback to Link's Awakening's opening.  Aryll's original name was based off of Marin's name, and that's why Seagulls are always following her and she has seagulls on her telescope. They also had the game start as a reference to A Link to the Past's opening, where Aryll wakes up Link, like Zelda, who Link then has to later rescue, like Zelda in ALttP. But those are just throwbacks or nods to the older games.

There's not much info about the Oracles besides what they give in the games, the Triforce is whole, Ganon is already dead, the characters in the game are descendants with human ears of the characters from OoT, only certain characters like Link, Impa, and Zelda have Hylian blood with their pointy ears. I guess Oracle's ending kinda refers back to Link's Awakening but that kinda messes things up because they would have had to change the tie to ALttP that LA has, which is changing connections and references, something the other games haven't done.

Besides Smash Bros. and Kirby, has HAL really been working on anything else for the last several years?

I'd like to see HAL revive their Adventures of Lolo series, even if its only a GBA rerelease of the 3 NES games, I haven't played those in so long and haven't noticed them used at my local EB. Lolo and Lala have been idling their time with cameos in a few Kirby games since their glory days.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Broken Gcn...plan

My Gamecube was purchased when the system launched and I recieved it as a present for Christmas 2001.  A year later, about a week before Christmas 2002, my Gamecube got the disc read error, the lens or whatever seemed to have died. I think its life might have been cut short from the Harry Potter rental my sister rented that probably had plenty of scratches on it, plus, wherever you go in Harry Potter, there was a 15sec loading screen so that must have helped kill the system. I called up Nintendo and explained the situation, and I told them that I had never had a problem before and that just after a month after the warrenty expired it stopped working, so the lady extended my warranty about 2 months so I got it repaired for free. I sent the GC to the local repair place and had them ship it out and a replacement was sent to me about a month later.

(Also, since this was a week before Christmas that my Gamecube died and I was getting Metroid Prime for Christmas I was in a panic, how awful for me to not have a Nintendo system to play a much anticipated game on! Luckily I got a 2nd Gamecube because of some special deal at Best Buy with a Computer purchase, so Christmas was saved!)

I've always taken great care of all my video game stuff, so I've never put chains around my Gamecube's handle and tied to my car and driven around like a maniac or anything like that It just must have had to do with the early GC models.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Connecting Gamecube through a tv wonder
« on: July 29, 2003, 10:22:29 AM »
I have a ATI TV Wonder VE too, and I think part of the problem is the card isn't that great to begin with.  The ATI software that comes with it gives bad picture quality.  The best result you can probably get from the card is by using Dscaler, a free video capture card viewer thingy program, www.dscaler.org

I also think that this card can't actually Deinterlace, remove the scan lines and produce a clear image for a PC, so the picture quality still isn't that great. If it could Deinterlace, I would be getting very good 640x480 screen shots, but they come out bad and have to be resized to 320x240 to look ok.  Even if it had S-Video inputs, it still wouldn't look good because the card won't deinterlace. Even with Dscaler, my games still look much better on my regular TV. Next time, I'm going to invest about $100 in a good card, probably by http://www.hauppauge.com/ , with S-Video.
