FYI - your articles have referred to "Age of Imprisonment" as "Age of Calamity" for the last 2 weeks.  :D

Get the bad game.  Let the kid learn.  It's sad.  It's not fun.  They're going to learn how to discern what's a good purchase & what's bad and use judgment.  This is the teachable moment where next time, you say, "Let's look up some reviews."  This'll be a good skill when they're buying cars or making other big purchases in adulthood.  And it was only 15 euro to learn this lesson.

The 2014 Gauntlet you mentioned was developed by the same team as Helldivers. I really liked their game before Gauntlet 2014, Magicka.  I never played Gauntlet 2014, but I imagine their Helldivers pedigree behind Gauntlet could produce an interesting game.

Avengers 6: Secret Wars was scheduled for May 7, 2027.  Last month, it was delayed to December 2027.

Zelda is swooping in & taking that date.

We have two dogs & two elderly cats.  We have no carpet in the house & it is such a relief.

Street Fighter 6 is only $40 US for Switch 2?  I would've expected it to be $60 at least, unless the $40 version is missing the Year 1 & 2 DLC.

Jon is absolutely right.  Nintendo wanted outlets to write Gamecube as NINTENDO GAMECUBE (all-caps, with the word "Nintendo").  I wrote for a PGC peer at the time, and we ignored that style guidance.

Super Pinball for Game Boy may have become Revenge of the Gator?

I think Nintendo of America published Quest for Camelot in North America, which may explain why it's on the Switch Online selection.
(Nintendo of Europe published it in Europe) .

Which may pave the way for Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite!

About Therm Scissorpunch: I fully believe Solo was intended to be a movie that took the piss out of Star Wars.  Why else would you hire Lord & Miller, the directors of Lego Movie and 21/22 Jump Street?

And then the Star Wars people got cold feet and fired Lord & Miller.  But stuff like Therm Scissorpunch and a main character named L337 still remain from the original direction.

"this is to Metroid what Super Mario RPG is to Final Fantasy."

That's an evocative quote.

That cross-progression automatic cloud upload is pretty snazzy.

n-Space also made TWO Goldeneye games, both for DS.

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent was a DS port of the console game where you were a Bond henchman.  It might be the first online FPS on Nintendo systems.

oldeneye 007 was made to coincide with the Wii Goldeneye.  It feels like a new Bond game in the N64 style, and is pretty cool.

The $377 million is worldwide for 5 days.

In the US, it made $146 million over the 3-day weekend (and $204 million Wednesday to Sunday)

I'm not sure about that 5-Day Record.  There's about 15 movies that have made more than $204 million in 5 days. And several have made $200+ in a weekend (Avengers Endgame made $357 million in the US in its first weekend).

Oath in Felghana was a revelation when I played it on the PSP.  It was my first Ys game, and I was not ready for how fast & agile the combat was.

I'm surprised it took this long, considering the Switch is a natural fit for PSP & Vita ports.

It's nice to see all these indie 3D platformers popping up.  How do you think this compares to Demon Turf?

I feel like we're also hitting that general malaise as a system reaches end-of-life, regardless if Nintendo has a successor announced.  We're finishing Year 6.  This is just like Wii circa 2010-2012, where there's a few good games but I'm looking at other options (then Steam, now Steam Deck).

Also, I think Nintendo is probably holding things back for a Switch 2 launch in 2024, namely Mario Kart 9 and a mainline Mario.

Die Hard with a Vengeance was a repurposed script called "Simon Says", which was originally intended to be a sequel to Brandon Lee's "Rapid Fire".

They are definitely Minecraft prose novels.  I bought one for my son written by Max Brooks, the writer of World War Z.  It's fine.

I also read a Resident Evil novel from the late 90s by SD Perry.  It reads like a movie novelization.  Perry wrote adaptations of all the games contemporaneously through Resident Evil 0, with original novels in-between each game.  It was fine but over-explained puzzles from the game.  They're still in print.

I'm glad to hear Radical Rescue holds up!  I played all three of the Game Boy TMNT games so much, so I have no clear idea if they're objectively good.
