Is it safe to assume holiday 2017 means end of fiscal year 2018?

TalkBack / Re: Possible Details About Zelda Wii U Emerge?

If people are interested in gender options, it's great that they get it, but I'm personally more interested in a Link character that is totally androgynous. I kind of thought it was heading in that direction. In most games the character is a child who's gender is not only unimportant, but difficult to distinguish, and in the games where the character is older, he's somewhat effeminate. I was kind of hoping in this game they'd take that a step further and just never imply a gender one way or the other. Still, a gender option is a step in the right direction for helping more gamers feel included, and not just female ones.

I think the real controversy we're missing here is the voice acting. Honestly, if it wasn't for text in video games, I may not have learned how to read. I think voice acting is losing something in the same way an audiobook isn't quite as stimulating for brain growth as an actual novel. I admired Nintendo for holding out on that, but perhaps this is progress. I'll just have to keep playing my Super Nintendo if I want to read a video game.

If the game doesn't appeal to you don't, purchase it, but from a business standpoint, the message Nintendo gets when a Metroid game doesn't sell well isn't that they did the wrong Metroid, it's that the Metroid brand doesn't sell. Which has been true for a quite a while now, so you can kind of understand why they haven't been putting a lot of investment into the franchise. I'm personally going to have to see more of Federation Force before making a purchasing decision, but if it flops, which is likely, I fully expect another 9 years before we see another Metroid title. In the unlikely event it breaks records, you can expect a swath of Metroid titles to follow. Not saying that's a reason to buy a game you don't want. Just saying that's how entertainment companies run their businesses.

How 'bout some Zelda soup? I can be the only one who's always wanted to try it.

Is this a "Special" demo in the way the Smash3DS Demo was "Special" - unlimited usage vs. a 30-use limit on the regular demo?

I just opened mine, and looks like it's unlimited.

You know what would make this article really shine? A bar graph.

TalkBack / Re: Pokémon Surpasses Four Million Sales in Two Days

Granted I'm an old fart, but I love the fact that I can count on a particular type of gameplay from every generation of Pokemon. That's exactly why I had to leave the Final Fantasy series. They started updating and changing things, presumably to keep up with a modern audience, but it's not fun for me anymore. If they make the game broodwar describes, I doubt I'll like it, so I won't buy it. I certainly won't buy a Wii U to play it. In fact, I don't buy a lot of other games or consoles period. Maybe it'd be smart Nintendo to start making some radical changes with the franchise to keep up with the tastes of the modern "gamer", but don't forget that then they're competing with Elderscrolls and Warcraft, and leaving my money in my wallet. Maybe that easy money is what appeals to Nintendo because there are few other games in this niche, and apparently 4 million people who still play them. I'm sure someday Nintendo will wise up and start breaking into wider demographics like some of you folks want, but until then I'm happy that one big franchise still plays like a game I like to play.

I find it funny that everyone refers to them as WWII Germans. I guess no one wants to play as the Nazis.

My favorite part of that petition was the goal of 200 signatures. That was the number they were striving for. That made my morning.

On the website FAQ it at least offers a statement that they'll refund everyone's money if it's clear they won't have enough to make the game. Obviously, that's not much insurance, but as someone who has worked in the entertainment industry, I know statements like that aren't made lightly. Dyak's whole niche will be donating, and it wouldn't be a wise career move for him to alienate the whole niche by stealing their money. It's not like they could spend it all in the 30 day donation period anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about losing your 25 bucks. I'm not convinced this game will be made, but if you're interested in this game, I wouldn't write it off just yet. I think it's worth a gamble just to finally see a creative use of the Wii U's controller with new insanity effects.
