Every time I consider getting an XBox 360, I am reminded by stories like this why I shouldn't.

I call 'em "Intel-Sorry-Excuse-For-Graphics Chips" for a reason.

What are the ratings restriction compliance rates for the sale of R-rated movies and Parental Advisory CDs?

Completely silent characters when everyone else is talking really bugs me.  What I think they should have done with Samus is something along the lines of Master Chief's speaking: make her laconic

TalkBack / RE: Analyst Predicts Wii Shortages to Continue

With all the Nintendo doomsaying that went on before the Wii, I have determined that the first four letters of the word "analyst" indicates where they get their information from.

On the subject of Samus... Has anyone noticed that the way Samus moves in SSBM is more feminine than the way she moves in the Metroid Prime games?

Nintendo Gaming / WiiConnect24 Shennanigans
« on: January 16, 2007, 01:28:02 PM »
I just got my Ethernet adapter for my Wii today, and, after getting a LAN min-switch out of my dad, I got my Wii hooked up alongside my computer.  I connected, got a firmware update (Wiiii!  I can read the SD card on the data screen now! ), but now whenever I attempt to connect, I get the following error: "Error Code 101305: There is a problem with the WiiConnect24 service.  Try again later."  Is the problem on my end, or the other end?  Is the service down at the moment?

Apparently not, as my Wii doesn't even detect its presence in the data management system screen.

Okay, that explains it.  I am unable to connect to the Internet through the wireless, so that means no firmware updates for me 'till I get an Ethernet adapter.  In the mean time, I guess I'll just have to cringe or turn off the music when playing Excite Truck.

Nintendo Gaming / SD card problem?
« on: December 22, 2006, 01:04:08 PM »
I seem to have a problem with my Wii's SD card reader: it doesn't read the SD card I put in it!  I loaded up a SD card with some MP3s to play while playing Excite Truck, but when I fire it up, the SD card isn't detected at all.  I looked into the manual to see what it SHOULD look like, but there's no option for the SD card in the data management screen for it.

Proof that Ninty's loosened up:

Midna, a NINTENDO CREATED CHARACTER, is (technically) topless when her true form is revealed.

Is it just me, or is there much malevolent enjoyment to be had running through Castle Town as a wolf?

Agitha = fully formed good looking woman in a dress.

Tingle = short chubby little man in a spandex suit.

Does that clear things up?

Anyhoo... Tingle returns, albiet in a hidden way.  Examine closely the host of the STAR minigame in Castle Town.

Most decidedly true.  One of the (subconscious) signs a woman gives that she's attracted to a man is habitually touching him.  Midna was all over Link throughout the cutscenes.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The biggest disaster in Nintendo history?
« on: December 10, 2006, 11:20:07 AM »
Well, seeing that the opening number of PS3s that the Target I work at was eight, and the number of Wiis it got at launch was fifty one (17 shipper boxes X 3 per box), I don't think it's a "disaster".  The supply is insufficient for the demand, but Ninty is doing a far better job than Sony.

Although we didn't have any on Black Friday, we got another 60-unit shipment that went on the shelf about a week later, two weeks after the opening day.

Re: Link's Boomerang:

The nerfing of his boomerang was more than made up for by the increase in power of his smash attack (he gets TWO!), and the hit power bonus to his upwards/downwards aerial attacks when timed right.  Link is the quintessential brawler; what he lacks in special B-button attacks he more than makes up for in A-button attacks.  He's heavy enough to endure hard blows, yet nimble enough to evade them.  Plus, there aren't many attacks that can get you un-surrounded quite like Link's spin attack.

Forget the boomerang; Link has a FREAKIN' SWORD while most of the others just have their fists.

Another great thing about Link is that you can opt for a smaller, far more nimble kid-sized version with very little re-training when the gametype demands it.

I actually think Telma may be a Sheikah, judging from her face tattoos being similar to Impa's, and also on her account of having a vested interest in the well-being of Hyrule, and also because of her express passageway to the castle.

The nerfing of the throws in Melee was offset by the increase in the power of Smash moves.  It's called "Smash" Bros, afterall...

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Nintendo sued for patent infringement on the Wiimote
« on: December 09, 2006, 05:33:23 AM »
This is the same patent office that awards Amazon.com with patents on glaringly obvious things, mind you.  The US patent system is in dire need of a reform, and one of the reasons it does is to prohibit patent trolls like this from acting.  They had PLENTY of time to raise a fuss about it; why did they wait until after the Wii was released?  Because they're patent trolls and were waiting for maximum payout.  The situation with patent trolling is so bad that a company was created with the sole purpose of patent litigation: it's name is SCO, and its victim is Linux.
