Contra is reborn with flying ColorZ on WiiWare, the Star Wars SNES trilogy is finally complete on Virtual Console, and another bite size game comes to DSiWare.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=19925

This week in Nintendo Downloads brings four new titles: two on WiiWare, one for Virtual Console, and one for DSiWare.

Contra Rebirth is this week's most anticipated title. You play as Bill Rizer and Genbei Yagyu as Bill's former partner Lance Bean has suddenly disappeared. In the game you will travel to various locations on Earth to defeat Neo-Salamander's army. Contra Rebirth is rated E10+ by the ESRB and is available for 1000 Wii Points ($10).

ColorZ is this week's second WiiWare game. You control three space ships that have a specific color, each of which absorbs viruses of the same color. In later levels, players must combine ships in order to create a new color and to absorb specific viruses. If controlling three ships simultaneously is challenging, you can play with two more friends so that each player will control their own ship. ColorZ is rated E by the ESRB and is available for 700 Wii Points ($7).

The release of Super Return of the Jedi for the Virtual Console marks the completion of the SNES Star Wars trilogy on the Virtual Console. In the game players will join the rebellion in hopes to finally destroy the Death Star. You will be able to play as five different characters ranging from Wicket the Ewok to Princess Leia and face off against bosses such as Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt. Super Return of the Jedi is rated E by the ESRB and is available for 800 Wii Points ($8).

Clubhouse Games Express: Family Favorites is the latest bite-sized game for DSiWare. The game offers five various games: Hearts, Contract Bridge, Dots and Boxes, Dominoes, and Ludo. The game also features the DS Download Play feature so that you can play with up to seven friends with just one copy of the game. Clubhouse Games Express: Family Favorites is rated E by the ESRB and is available for 500 DSi Points ($5).

Contra is one of those games where there's no way I could handle it today. I have Contra and Super C for the NES, but the only times when I could make any real progress in them was when I played co-op with my older brother. We had to use the lives code though... he didn't need it, but I sure did! These days I can't even get past the first stage...

I wonder if my brother would be interested in this...

Contra ReBirth and ColorZ have both been released in Europe already (although Contra is not out in Australia). Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Clubhouse Games Express: Family Favorites are both being released here first.

Hey Mop_it_up you may want to get this one. I'm TERRIBLE at the Contra series but on easy with 7 lives I got to the 3rd stage without much problem. It seems to be more flexible in its difficulty then previous games. Not to mention it gives you checkpoints as well so when you continue (it appears you have infinite continues) you can start part way through the stage.

Seriously, you shouldn't have to drop it down to easy or 7 lives, medium and 3 lives is just fine and you can't damage tank that way.

Well it's good to hear it isn't as difficult as the NES games but I'm not really into games like this. The only reason I played the NES ones is because of the co-op, so if my brother isn't interested then there's no point.

Where's the original NES Contra?

Agreed. We have both the NES sequel and the SNES one, but not the original NES version. I want the original Contra.

ColorZ looks pretty good from videos I have seen.

The original Contra is part of the Konami Arcade Classics for the DS, I see it for cheap everywhere.

It's also an unlockable on Contra 4 (as is Super C).
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

The Contra 4 version is the NES port, the KAC version is the original.

Most reviewers seem to agree that the NES version was better than the arcade version I am aware it is unlockable on Contra 4, doesn't mean it shouldn't be on the VC too.
