TalkBack / Re: Nintendo TVii Impressions
« on: December 25, 2012, 03:46:36 AM »
What I'm afraid of is that in Europe the TVii feature will be even less useful.
We don't have cable here, so what is Nintendo going to do? Interface with satellite decoders for SAT channels? And those online video streaming services? Different countries have different languages, Amazon instant video, for example, has only a few Italian movies, all from the '60s. Nextflix is only available in the UK. There's no Hulu here neither. I don't have high expectations for this feature here where I live...

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Firmware Update Now Available

1. TVii service is ALREADY on the Wii U. We just have to wait it's activated SERVER SIDE, so it's no use thinking that this update could have enabled it.

2. Hard lock when using external drives are not caused by lack of compatibility, but lack of information from Nintendo. You have to use external HDDs WITH DEDICATED POWER SUPPLY. The Wii U is capable of powering external HDDs through the USB cable only in few occasions. If you have an external USB 3.0 HDD it probably won't work and/or hard lock the console. Some USB 2.0 external HDDs powered though USB cable can work, better if they use a Y-cable to drain power from TWO USB ports. But to be sure, I'd go with an external power supply for the HDD. I'm using an old 80GB USB 2.0 HDD powered through a Y-cable at the moment and it works fine, but I think I'll buy a 1TB HDD with dedicated power soon.

Actually, you need only ONE sensor bar for both Wii and Wii U.
It's not that the remotes transmit something to he console, they just need two IR sources to triangulate position and orientation in respect to the TV. The cable that goes from sensor bar to the console is just power.
You could just let the sensor bar plugged into your Wii and use the remotes with the Wii U; the only problem is that the Wii must be powered on for the sensor bar to be powered too.
