The good professor's fourth game will, shockingly, feature a bunch of puzzles and some sort of convoluted but entertaining story.

Nintendo of America released a handful of new screens for Professor Layton and the Last Specter, the upcoming fourth title in the series coming out October 17.

Taking place three years before the events of the first game in the series, The Last Spector tells the story of how Layton met his boy sidekick Luke. The story takes off when Layton receives a letter from an old schoolmate detailing a mysterious giant destroying the town of Misthallery. Rumors of a mythical "specter" add to the mystery.

As per every game in the series, free downloadable puzzles will be available after launch.

Professor Layton and the Last Specter also contains Professor Layton's London Life, an lengthy bonus RPG developed by Brownie Brown. Featuring a host of series cameos, London Life tasks players with helping out townspeople in Little London.
