Hey, it figures that Toronto has about 30 events, but come on, what about Ottawa? We're the 4th largest city, when's our turn?

Word. I mean come on Nintendo, there's a lot more to Ontario than Toronto! They should have least stops in Ottawa, London, Windsor, K-W, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Kingston, Sudbury and Thunder Bay.

You're right, that is a deal! I paid 4 times that for that game and I thought it was worth every penny. I recommend it to anyone who wants fast, and challenging arcade style racing.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:New North American (NPD) Sales Thread

Game sales are not good for the Gamecube right now. Heck, even the Gameboy sales aren't that great with the top game with a 3 year old budget title containing 20 year old games leading the way (although its hardware sales are superb). Only one game for a Nintendo machine had sales of more than $2 million in April while Sony and Microsoft have several. All I can say is thank goodness Nintendo had a great E3 because I think it gave them a shot in the arm they desparately need.

Well I've been using the Interact Mega Memory 16X card for over a year and I've had no problems with it at all. It's nice to see there's going to be more manufacturers like Datel and Nintendo themselves releasing 1000 block or more memory cards, because for many of the more hardcore GC fans, 59 or 251 blocks just isn't enough.

Well I can say to Denis is good luck on your future endeavours, because I think you run a great development company and I think they can be a success with or without Nintendo. I take great pride that it's right where I live, and I hope they continue to make high quality games.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What are some hard to find Gamecube games?
« on: March 16, 2004, 10:47:10 AM »
Sonic Mega Collection is getting pretty tricky to find in stores.

Good luck finding NCAA College Basketball 2k3. It was discontinued after only a few days being released. Right now on eBay it gets bid up to $80 for a new copy. It is not worth getting if you have a PS2 or XBOX though, since on those platforms that same game goes for a budget price.

I think Conflict Desert Storm II is a tough one also, along with Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds.

BTW I can attest that Sega Soccer Slam is a rare find. I stupidly traded in my old copy. When I wanted the game back it took me many weeks to find it. Lucklily, I found it at a Pawn shop for $14 and was quite happy to pay that.

I was in Toys R Us just yesterday. Some 20-ish guy picks up the Wind Waker. His girlfriend (or perhaps sister or something) said to him "You're getting him Zelda?" He says "Of course! Zelda rocks!" She says "But he has a PS2." He says "So?" She says "The PS2 doesn't play Nintendo games. You'd have to buy a Nintendo to play Zelda." He hangs his head and walks over to the PS2 rack.

That rips some stereotypes to shreds.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Best "pick up and play" game for the Cube
« on: January 13, 2004, 03:52:03 PM »
All the choices that are so far mentioned are excellent. If you love arcade racing you must get F-Zero GX. I have so much fun using my custom racer to shave fractions of a second off my time trial time. Burnout 2 is a great choice for racing too. I'd also recommend getting a Game Boy Player and getting Warioware, Zelda: A Link to the Past, and the Super Mario Advance Series. Viewtiful Joe will remind you of the older arcade beat-em-ups. There's also compilations like Sonic Mega Collection and the upcoming Megaman Anniversary Collection.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Midway Arcade Treasures - where is it?
« on: January 02, 2004, 06:37:54 PM »
Yes it's definately worth it, especially if you're into old school gaming. Gauntlet, Robotron 2084, Defender, Smash TV and Joust are gaming classics and there are many more games you'll find yourself playing for hours like Root Beer Tapper, Klax and Paperboy. There is lots of fun to be had in this package. I got my copy at Best Buy in Canada.

There is also Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO, which was later ported to XBOX.

TalkBack / RE:GameCube’s Mid-Term Report Card
« on: December 24, 2003, 10:09:10 AM »
I also believe that Jonnyboy117 gave a fair assessment of the Gamecube. I am also one who believes the Gamecube is a vast improvement over the N64, but it's still no where near to the level of the NES and SNES. The missed the boat of taking advantage of the broadband adapters and are instead trying to promote using the GBA to "enhance" the playability of the Gamecube. Given what I have seen so far I'm not holding my breath. This connectivity nonsense extends beyond the Gamecube. I find it ridiculous that for SMA4 : Super Mario Bros. 3 in order to get the extra levels it requires an e-reader, 2 GBAS, a link cable, and some e-reader card packs, when they could have fit the levels in the GBA cartridge. Some may argue that having the cards will give unlimited expandibility, but do you really think that it will go beyond a couple card series? The Gamecube is still a very good system, and I'm very happy with some of the games like Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero and Viewtiful Joe, and accessories like the Wavebird, but Nintendo has to be very careful of what baskets to put their eggs in.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Gamecubes Graphics
« on: December 23, 2003, 08:44:11 AM »
You can quote all the specs all you like, but what really matters is how the games look. F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime, and Legend of Zelda : The Wind Waker are among the best of this 128-bit generation when it comes to graphics (Including what the XBOX offers). I love the fact that these games deliver colourful and eye catching visuals at a high frame rate. My final word of adivce is don't listen to people who say Gamecube is the worst console for graphics and it's just for kids, because they don't know what the heck they are talking about.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Worst GCN Games of ALL Time
« on: December 21, 2003, 04:01:17 PM »
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Charlie's Angels or Aquaman, which are prime candidates for worst video game of the year overall (not just the GC). The worst Gamecube game I've owned was WWE Crush Hour, a (really) poor man's Twisted Metal.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:the best soccer/football game for the cube?
« on: October 24, 2003, 05:23:26 AM »
I hear World Soccer Winning Eleven 6 is by far the best GC soccer game. Unfortunately it's only been sold in Japan and you'd have to import it, and you have to know Japanese to understand the menus. If you don't want to go through the trouble you're probably better off just getting FIFA 2004, which is coming out in a couple weeks.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Media Create Numbers -8/18-8/24
« on: August 31, 2003, 02:40:05 PM »
Solid numbers for Nintendo overall with half of the games on the list being for its consoles. While the Gamecube may not be selling like the PS2, they quite acceptable. Microsoft really needs to rethink its marketing strategy in Japan (like releasing a smaller machine for them). There's no way it should be selling as poorly as the Wonderswans.

Many of the movie theatres in Canada used to have advertising at the start of the movie. One advertised about the Gamecube having 180 games, which is what it had at the time, another advertising the LoZ: The Wind Waker.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Just picked up Soul Calibur 2 and F-Zero...woah!
« on: August 29, 2003, 07:08:35 PM »
This has been a GREAT week for the Big N. Many people have been facing the dilemma of choosing either one of those 2 games (or they just say the heck with it and buy both). Nintendo should do all their power to keep Sega (specifically Amusement Vision) and Namco happy. This is a good start in what I think is going to be an awesome next three months for the Gamecube.

Aargh so that's why I can't find it anywhere in Canada. That really sucks for people who don't live near a Target store. I guess I'll have to go to Buffalo to buy it or win it on EBay.

Nintendo Gaming / Official Game Boy Player Discussion
« on: June 30, 2003, 06:04:54 AM »
>>I was thinking of getting one of those Nyko "PlayCube" adaptors (they let you plug in a PS2 controller instead of a GameCube controller) for my GameBoy Player, >>since PS2 controllers are backwards compatible, and the old non-analog PSX controllers are virtually the same thing as the Hori Pad, while being cheaper, more >>versatile, and more easily available, but I spotted on the GameFAQs boards that apparently Nyko's PlayCube adaptor doesn't work with the GameBoy Player.

>>Can anyone confirm this?

I just tested it out the Playcube with a regular PS2 controller and a Shadowblade Arcade Stick playing a game on the GBP. I couldn't get any movement on either of them . That's too bad because that would have been a great idea.
