TalkBack / RE:Power Pro Baseball Series Coming to the US

This game looks undeniably awesome--great art style, tons of stat tracking, modes with Mii integration, MLB players, a deep RPG mode, options for multiple style of controls, etc.

I've been waiting to play one of these for years. It will be great to get it--it's become another must-have Wii game this fall!

2. Super Smash Brothers Brawl - Looks epic and awesome from the trailers and the always-nifty daily updates. Could be the best fighting game of this generation, IMO.
3. Super Mario Galaxy - Hype really went up for me when I saw how much more Mario64-esque it was and less Sunshine-like. Could be a million-seller.
4. MySims - The depth of the creativity and customization features is just incredible. Couple that with a much more fun and cute look than regular Sims!
5. Madden NFL '08 - Online play, 22 Mini-Games, Mii features, telestrator plus all of the modes and awesome motion controls from '07 PLUS improved graphics.
6. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - I've played but do not own either game, and this looks awesome with motion controls, new levels and features plus improved graphics.
7. Rockstar Presents Table Tennis (2007?) - The 360 game looked awesome, and Table Tennis was always fun to watch in the Olympics. Should rock with motion controls.
8. Thrillville: Off the Rails - Always loved the Roller Coaster Tycoon games on PC and have waited for one for a Nintendo console. Not quite the same, naturally, but the new features and mini-games should really propel it to coolness.

Honorable Mentions:
Carnival Games (I know--but it has skeeball and I'm a sucker for those "dreaded" mini-game collections)
FIFA '08 (Soccer and Online Play!)
My Word Coach (My whole family loves word games and this should be interesting)
Namco Museum Remix (I've had an eye for this collection since it was announced)
NBA Live 08 (Online play and Basketball!)
Power Rangers: Super Legends (Has the ability to play as classic MMPR Rangers)
Smartypants (2007?) (A trivia game--cool)

If Mario & Sonic has the 1:1 fencing Miyamoto suggested, I'd have it in my 8, but not quite number 1. I think a million is a pretty low estimate, if Galaxy is as good as it seems it should do quite a bit better than that. My main question: do you have a link to where they confirmed Live to be online? In what I've read it wasn't talked about like they talk about it in Madden and FIFA, but since it's in that it seems likely, though I haven't seen it actually confirmed.

No problem! Here you go. Here's a quote of the important portion from  IGN's Wii Site:

Where NBA Live 08 really sold us, however, was in the online portion of the package. Details are still pretty sparse due to the game's level of completion, but EA did share an interesting note with us. NBA Live 08 supports console vs. console play, which means up to eight players can go online and face off against each other. Since there are only two Wii systems connecting, EA treats it as a "team vs. team" situation, so you can play online with either one, two, three, or four controllers supported on each console. There were also rumblings that once connected, consoles could actually change players on each team; so you could go online with a group and then trade players pre-game and do a little mixed online competition. We'll wait to see that one in practice, but according to EA it's entirely plausible. Regardless, four-on-four online is confirmed, so get your teams ready, organize tournaments on the message boards, and kick a little butt via eight player online.

NBA Live 08 IGN Pre-E3 07 Preview

Hope that helps!

When I saw the title, I thought it might be a sequel to "Beach Spikers." Then I read on and it was "Bleach." Oh, well. :P

I already have Galaga on Namco Museum (GameCube), so I didn't need that.

I like the style/look of Alex Kidd from the screenshots, but will be holding off after consistently medicore/bad reviews.

Bravoman was a maybe, but for now, it's on the back-burner.

So, no VC purchases this week. I've still got to beat Starfox 64 after all! ^_^

TalkBack / RE:REVIEWS: Super Swing Golf PANGYA
« on: April 10, 2007, 12:47:57 PM »
I also have to respectfully disagree as well.

I picked up Super Swing Golf for $29.99 at Best Buy recently, and have enjoyed it. True, it doesn't have 16x9 support, the load times are a bit lengthy, and the lack of character creation and variety from the get-go is regretable, but it's fun.

I love the creativity of the courses, the brightly-designed characters, and the sound too. The gameplay is quite good, and of all the golf games I've played (including both Mario Golf titles), it controls the best, blowing the oft-ankward Wii Sports: Golf out of the water, in my opinion. I haven't played Tiger '07, so I can't comment if that is better, worse, or just about the same.

Note to Nintendo: bring back the letter/number Mini-Golf from Mario Golf 64. Or...virtual console! ^_^

« on: November 12, 2006, 12:07:08 PM »
I'm not getting Zelda, because I've never been a huge fan of the franchise. Don't get me wrong, it looks beautiful and I'm not going to scream, "Zelda stinks!" or anything. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay deep. Just not my kind of game. For launch, I'll be enjoying WiiSports (an awesome looking title, by the way) in addition to Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Instead of a 4th launch title, I'll be picking up WiiPoints to enjoy a variety of the virtual console titles from the launch list including Ice Hockey, Pinball, Bomberman '93, Columns, SimCity and Super Mario 64.

For 2007, I'm looking forward to many great upcoming games like Sonic and the Secret Rings, Mario Party 8, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Big Brain Academy Wii and more. I'm also looking forward to upcoming Virtual Console titles like Super Mario RPG, Mario Kart 64, the many Kirby games I've never played before, and Super Smash Brothers among others.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Single Response Wii Launch Opinion Thread
« on: September 14, 2006, 03:39:50 PM »
All in all, it looks like a promising launch for the console once known as the Revolution.

Positives:
* The price. With a game (five if you want to get technical), controller, controller accessory, sensor bar, compsoite/component cable, batteries and out-of-the-box channel service, this is still more than half the price of the "upper crust" PS3 bundle. The PS3 games--which will probably be $60 plus will push a single-player adopter well above $650 once tax has its way. A $249.99 w/ Game is solid. And, complete compatibility with all GameCube software and hardware out of the box.
* The channel service. Nice, and unexpected. I have to say that as a weather enthuiast, I like the idea of looking at weather maps on my Nintendo console. The customizing avatars and solid, clean organization of the varying channels is nice too.
* Ever-Growing Virtual Console Support - Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario, and Donkey Kong were mentioned and more than 30 games should make a wide variety of people happy. And, another console--one I've never heard of--MSX or MCX--was added into the fray.
*Games. The games for Wii look great. Not only WiiSports, but also Sonic and the Secret Rings, Super Mario Galaxy, Pokemon Battle Revolution and some of the others have caught my eye like Big Brain Academy, Cooking Mama, and Wings Island.

Negatives:
* No DVD playback. Not really a HUGE hit, because I have an excellent DVD recorder, but a slight disappointment nonetheless.
* Super Paper Mario, wherefore art thou? :P
* Slightly high accessory prices--but still better than the expensive X-Box 360 controller.

All in all, my mind has not changed. I'll be pre-ordering a Wii as soon as possible. Wii are the champions? You bet!

Cool stuff. If I remember correctly, Hard Drivin was one of the first Polygon racers, back there with Virtua Racing (a classic, IMO). Arch Rivals was a prototypical NBA Jam. And, I think that Championship Sprint was another one of those enjoyable top-down racer. I haven't played any of the others, including any of the Mortal Kombat series. So, most of these will be new to me. Too bad Paperboy 2 isn't on here though.

Some cool announcements here.

I've never played Donkey Kong Country 2 on SNES, so this will be my first time to try that one.

If Puyo Pop Fever is coming out in Europe, does this mean it will be released in the states as well?

Another F-Zero game, huh? Well, I can dig that too.
