TalkBack / RE: Miyamoto's NYC Visit a Success
« on: September 28, 2005, 06:18:57 PM »
I'm in one of those pictures! The guy minish cap was really awesome and looked great in person, but he was kind of a showboat walkin up and down the line many times just looking for the attention, which of course he got. The guy who took the pics is the guy pointing to Reggie in one of the pics. It was an awesome experience and Miyamoto was so generous and really seemed greatful for the fans reaction to him.

I wish they would count how many systems had to be returned because of defects. In my store alone my co workers have gone through 5. We opened one up today and the disc tray didn't even open up. Its even beginning to catch on with customers. Some will come in and ask why so many are having problems.  I guess no one is aware of all the defective systems Sony has put out through out the years.

The third is different. They even take a stab at the one alarm and game over part in the game. The game is fantastic. I did buy it on xbox for its online but it should be a great game on all platforms. For those looking for a solid gaming experience I would really recommend picking up this title.

Those are all great games , id like to add a few to the list... How about Crystalis and Golgo 13.. Those were two of my favorite games when i was younger. No one even brought up Duck Hunt. Come on! Thats the first shooter.  Thats what Nintnedo should remake and give a gun with it. J/k

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Enhanced Launch title strategy
« on: March 27, 2005, 04:18:00 PM »
Yeah Geist sounds pretty interesting, I hope they can pull it off. Nintendo should probably avoid doing any remakes right now unless its a franchise that has not been around for a long time like Kid Icarus. Besides that they should make a new franchise for Revolution. They have always introduced new franchises with their harware launches so it just depends on what they have in store for us. Maybe it will be a game that will showcase some of the "ideas" they feel will be Revolutionary. Maybe they will be able to perfect console FPS, which some agree here would be a great genre to launch with.

At my store we have had a few PSP systems brought back because of dead pixel issues. We did sell out of our stock though so we were not able to exchange it for them. we received 100 systems for our launch day. One thing i did notice was that people were buying the system and no games. I thought it was odd but some people were saying they did not want the same games as their home system. Many people just bought it because it had the Playstation name. Should be interesting to see how many systems we do get back because of faulty issues.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Katamari Damacy for DS
« on: March 23, 2005, 06:49:42 AM »
The game rocks for the PS2. The controls are flawless. Really easy game to pick up and have fun with. The DS version i would think probably plays similar to the snowball mini game for Wario in Mario DS, but with better control. Never played the pac n' roll but the demo did seem to require precise controls. Either way the game is going to be great.

This is a great game that really shows Nintendo is ahead of the competition in ideas and gameplay, but I wish they would have had these modes as well as an adventure mode. It might have made the game more appealing for a mainstream audience looking for more DS games to buy. Im happy with the purchase though and I hope that Nintendo can expand on something like this.

General Gaming / RE: PSP vs. DS ... Final Verdict (G4)
« on: March 23, 2005, 06:38:32 AM »
Those numbers are only based on the Japanese numbers. Even now the PSP is seeling at almost a 2 to 1 ratio. Im not supporting the PSP right now because I do have a DS, but it's obvious that the PSP is really a strong piece of hardware. I think it is a good device for the casual person. For about $350 (because youll need the 1 gig mem. stick) you could get the same deal as an ipod but you will also be getting a movie player and a ps2 quality game player. The PSP does have some pretty good games. Lumines, Mercury, Untold and Wipeout are all pretty interesting. I did have the chance to try out Lumines and Wipeout and both were real fun to play.

What Sony has done with the PSP was expanded the market of handheld users. Maybe the 35 year old traveler doesn't want to play Yoshi or Wario but prefers to play something like Twisted Metal or maybe a sport title that looks just like their home console. With the PSP they could do that as well as listen to music or watch movies that they can transfer from their computer. These are qualities that I think the American audience wants in their handheld machines. It really is an all purpose multi-media machine.

Personally, I'm not going to get a PSP just yet because its a little too expensive for just one game,(Lumines) but it doesn't mean that I won't look into getting it in the future. I have no doubt it'll have great games to play and when that time comes I'll get one.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: I predict Nintendo will be #3 again...
« on: March 20, 2005, 11:31:43 AM »
This is probably a reason why Nintendo has added those new software titles such as the dictionary and language programs. Also does the Play-yan, (if thats even what it's called) play into this? Nintendo trying to offer more things to do with the DS then to just play games. Is it possible that Nintendo will also drop the price of the DS before the holiday season to attract more casual users or maybe perhaps, bundle the system with the software titles mentioned above?

Yeah guys I just finished the game. Its really fun but you can really get the feeling that its just a watered down platformer. The bongos are a blast to play with especially in some of the boss battles. Not too sure though that the price is good for it. If you have the money I would recommend getting it.

Amen brother!! minus the GTA game for PSP both machines are unique and not very similar. While the DS can seem to really push new boundaries for handheld games with maybe some RTS and more adventure games, the PSP can bring the home entertainment on the go. Where else can you get an MP3 player, Movie player and ps2 quality game player for $250. Now I don't have a PSP nor am I planning to get one until I see they fixed some of the problems, but both systems seem to be different enough to warrant a purchase.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo Revolution, Discuss it here!

I think Microsoft just wants to get out before Sony because they think they can beat them this generation. If they have the same marketing hype that surrounded Halo 2 then I guess anything is possible. I agree that there is life and great games to be played on the current consoles we have now. I kinda wish that they would keep these consoles out longer to see what developers can do being more familar with them. Make better games not stronger consoles.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Zelda Four Swords MMORPG
« on: March 15, 2005, 07:45:53 AM »
I want a Pokemon MMO so bad i can taste it. The series has been stale for quite some time and something like that would just bring many gamers and RPG fans back to it.  Four Swords online would be alot of fun. Would it have the same look as the current GC/GBA adventures or maybe take the series into 3d with a Wind Waker or maybe "real" Zelda feel.

Well we talked about the Zelda universe because it has so many different well known areas that could really be used for a much deeper story. I do think that MMORPGs will be on the next home consoles. They seem to be pretty popular right now. Something about working together and having full customization on your character is really interesting. Its like Animal Crossing but with the whole RPG feeling. (Thinking about Animal Crossing on Rev...........very nice) Thanks for the feedback guys.

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda Four Swords MMORPG
« on: March 14, 2005, 03:14:01 PM »
Hey I was talking with a friend about any new types of games that can be done on REV. He brought up a concept of an MMORPG using the Zelda universe. specificly making one like Four Swords. Just as a brain storm we thought people would travel around in groups of Four and would have the entire world of Hyrule to travel in.  With the online abilities that we know of right now, is this even possible and would any of you guys think of playing it? I just want to get some feedback from Nintendo fans.  Also share your thoughts on what can be brought in to making it a great game.

Is it even possible to do the voice chat on the DS. The speakers on it sound good with the games but it would probably break up pretty bad if the music, sound fx and voices go all over those speakers.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: EBGAMES & OTHER STUPID STORES
« on: March 14, 2005, 02:52:57 PM »
Yeah its true guys.In my store (EB Games) we don't like to throw any of those things on people but we really do get crap from our higher ups. I wish all of you can come to my store. Out of four guys two of us are big Nintendo fans and usually get into arguments with our customers. If any of you live in the New Jersey area stop by Garden State Plaza. We'll talk for hours. Again though don't get hard on some of the guys that work there, they just have to meet certain goals.

TalkBack / RE: Metroid Pinball DS, Metroid Prime: Hunters Delayed
« on: February 10, 2005, 10:20:26 AM »
KDR, you make some pretty good points. I think gamers go back to those games not because of the expressions and stories of the characters but because of the worlds that come with them. It great for me to go to the Mushroom Kingdom or to Hyrule because of what all those worlds bring. I do agree that as games become more sophisticated there should be some backbone behind the games and that includes detailed stories and character.
Now on to the topic, the Metroid pinball is a bad idea. As a DS owner im not interested in it and im getting very disappointed with the lack of original or fun games for it. Im getting Wario and Yoshi but Nintendo can't do it all on their own. They need third parties to do things on the system besides ports or gimmicky software.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Resident Evil 4 Discussion

I think what made the old RE scary was that the character was restricted to small enviroments with limited mobility. Opening up the enviroments and giving the perspective behind the shoulder with the aiming system felt like you had total control over the character. The new RE uses the thrill of having multiple targets that come from different sides in a larger landscape. The new way of playing really does breath new life into the franchise.

Xavya, you said all the thoughts I forgot to say. We both feel the exact same way about the PSP. I do think though Lumines is th ebest game for the system and will be a title that I might pick the system up for. Yes the screen really is that "sexy" as others in the industry have liked to describe it as. A guy from the other video game store in my mall imported one and brought it up to my store. I got to see Ridge Racer. Yeah its real impressive looking but aside from the Lumines, there isn't much im looking foward to. It does feel fragile. The system might have been rushed but when people see it, there's no doubt in my mind it will sell big.  I do think it would be a lot cooler if it had a touch screen.

The PSP was pretty nice looking. The first thing you will notice is the screen. It really is a great looking sharp screen and makes the DS screens look inferior. The controls feel a bit tight with the buttons. The analog nub is actually confortable but I think in time, with abuse it will break off. For me it doesn't offer anything new as far as games is ocncerned, but if your a graphics whore and love to get the latest techonology, you probably couldn't pass it up. If theres anything else you would like to know just ask. I didn't have much time to really give a good impression of it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Is Nintendo DS really inferior to the SONY PSP?
« on: January 20, 2005, 10:36:52 AM »
It's been announced the PSP is getting GTA.  I can't imagine it to be a new game because of productions costs and if it is it won't be as large scale as the console games. People will buy both though because they don't know any better. Great point about the DS being able to play PSP games but the PSP can't play DS games. Makes this DS owner smile.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Iwata: "Paradigm Shift"
« on: January 20, 2005, 10:28:58 AM »
Yeah the DS is a good system that offers a, "simple" way to play games. My girlfriend is addicted to the Mario mini games. They are fun, simple and show great uses for both the touch screen and duel screen abilities. I think however that people believe the DS is the next Gameboy. All I see is 10 year olds buying it or parents buying it for their 10 year old.
