speaking of programming, anybody know of a good online C++ manual guide thing? Or would buying a book be the way to go?

*shudders again*

I would actually recommend taking a course if u wanna get into it..  Its very hard to learn on your own from a book or the internet..  but if u cant or dont want to take a course then get a book.

Funny thing is, I LOVE doing all that stuff...someday I'll be in that damn industry...  Coding is more fun than playing a lot of the time...some of the time it sucks ass, but when you are actually making progress and seeing the results its an awesome experience

eek.  Good thing we have people like you then to make my games .  errr I dont mind so much 3d modeling for Im sorta doing it now to build a halo pc level but programming i cant stand *Shudders*

I always wanted to be in the game industry when I was a kid.... Then once I grew older and realized that programming, graphics design, editors, whatever position you got making the game is not as fun as its made out to be .  very hard work, NOthing fun like playing the finished game

Doctor Evil: Why make billions when we can make...millions?

This comment is actually pretty stupid when you think about it 007craft.  If you have made $1 profit then you havn't
lost Billions of Dollars you have made $1.  Sure you may have to spend Billions of dollars to get that $1 profit but you havn't lost those Billions of dollars to make a profit.  You simply have a revenue of Billions of Dollars + 1 hence giving you $1 profit.....  Damn this is making my head spin.....

Getting back on topic, this is really really good news for GameCube.  Nintendo may even catch the Xbox in the USA before this console war is over.....

um id didnt say that... your quoting the other guy with my name.. look back.. what your saying is what I was trying to say to him

And you think losing billions of dollars and only making $1 back is worth it?.

erm?  perhaps you need to look in the dictionary at the word "Profit" then rephrase your statement

and I do like the gamecube games.  I just get dissapointed in lack of features in games that appear on GC.  when ever they come on all 3 systems the cube is always missing an extra mode/feature that the x-box and ps2 versions have. and the few good 1st part games that come out is the reason I bought a gamecube.  I never get those 3rd party games for GC tho cause like i said... thier always missing features.

And u say miyamoto likes conectivity huh? well thats his public image.  He in it for the money too.

hey whats the deal with my icon?  I never realized It was not allowed?

and to defend myself b4... like I said,  Just because they make a profit doesnt mean they won the war.  And MS lost nothing.  True they didnt make as much as nintendo but they still made profit.  As long as they make $1 profit they have lost nothing.  Like i said b4 with the whole GBA conectivity.  Its all about money and greed.  its not innovative.. Its a freaking scam to get us to pay more $ to nintendo.  Nintendo is just concerened with making 1000000000000000%%%% profits and thats why they don't give the public what they want.  The public wants stuff that is fun but doesnt make millions for the companies, therefore this is why nintendo made more $ then x-box.

tho I would much rather own a console that caters to my demands (public) and not thos of managment who are only intreasted in making money. You think the guy who first thought up of gamecube to GBA conectivity was thinking "I wonder what would be fun for players to interact with"? NO.. That was his 2nd thought.  His first was "What would be a great way to make money".

I hate nintendo with a passion...  And your probably wondering why I own a gamecube and come to nintendo msg boards... Well that is because I grew up with Nintendo and I will not abandon them after they make a few mistakes (late n64,Gamecube).  I will continue to buy nintendo products and one day hope they pull themselves back together and become the leaders they once were in the NES/SNES days.

This is good news but.......

whats with nintendo?  every week the manage to outsell ps2 they boast about it.  well u know what, Sony did not boast when it kicked your A$$ the other 40 something weeks of the year.

altho this is good news.. they still lost these console wars by a huge margin.  Lets just hope nintendo fixes them selves up and actually starts listening to what the public wants, rather then throw stuff on them they dont want *CoughGBAconectivityCough*.

these guys are taking way to long.  They are ready to release right now if u check on thier forums but instead they are waiting to add like 1 or 2 simple almost useless features.

I think they should Release the BETA RIGHT NOW as like beta v1.0 and they can just release a beta version 1.1 or whatever once they finish thos few extra things they want.

Its not like a video game were once its shipped its over with.  They can update thier beta at any time to include more features.

I dont suck at making maps.. Im actually very good.  IT is YOU who is just unaware of true FPS editors and have only used silly console editors like the one in TS2.  all you can do is place big empty rooms and put nothing in them but like 1 crate.  it really was a waste of time to even put that editor in the game.  Using that time they could of implimented a lan mode or some more levels or something else.

well it should be able to handle 8-players lag free.  I mean they have an 8 player vs mode so why not a battle?  and im talking LAN here.....Not warppipe.  Cause in direct Lan connection there should be no reason a game should lag whatsoever with only 8 players.  16+ players then I can start to see some lag.

hold down windows key + push r

Type in charmap

now find a pretty letter u like and click it.  Look in the bottom left corner and right corner.  in the bottom right it will say what the alt + whatever is to make that symbol is.  If it doesnt then look at the bottom left.  U will see a number like U+0039.  Open windows calculator and type that 0039 into it under the HEX setting. (Make sure u got sientific caculator view open)  then click dec to get to deciaml and it will give u what u need to push with alt to make that character.

I have this game but am done with it.  It was good but It just diddent stick with me and my friends.  co-op was cool tho.  BUt ignore that multiplayer level builder..  Its so basic and limited the best thing you could build is a decorated box.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:How much are you paying
« on: November 23, 2003, 01:39:19 PM »
I pay NOTHING.  I wouldent mind paying for a thing like x-box live were its yearly for unlimited play on all games but I would never pay for an individual game ever.

I do play lots of online games and if there was no such thing as online games I probably wouldent be playing games today.  I just think charging for each individual game is rediculas. these are the games I play now online

warcraft 3
starcraft
halo
MOHAA
MOHAA spearhead
Armagetron (fun game )
Worms Armegeddon

now just imagine I had to pay individually for those games.  letes say lowest price possible is $10 a month each. well thats $70 a month just to play online.  forget that.....  its a complete waste of money

WTF are u talking about?  I have my damn opinion ok.  If I wanted 1-player games or limited multi-player games I would of got a ps2.  I enjoy MULTIPLAYER.  In fact.  I own several gamecube/PC games were I have NEVER even tried the 1-player mode.  Simply because I dont like playing alone.  I will only play the game if its co-op or rarely I will play the odd 1-player only game like RE or metroid prime but usually if thier is a multiplayer mode in the game, I wont touch the 1-player.  I also plan on getting an x-box when halo2 is out and im getting x-box live.  ITs plane and simple... I LIKE MULTIPLAYER GAMES.  that is why I avoid the Ps2.  Now this is my opinion and I dont think any1 has the right to say its pathetic.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Zelda Bonus Disc....?
« on: November 23, 2003, 01:29:33 PM »
Ok I found out the truth....

It appears Nintendo did not think it was fair for people who bought a gamecube earlier (like 2 weeks ago and later) did not get a zelda disc and the people who buy the system now for the same price get one.  In order to make it fair to all they allow you to get the disc by simply registering your Gamecube.  This way, as long as you bought a gamecube, you dont miss out on the FREE disc.  If you register a brand new gamecube that came with a zelda disc you will not recieve another one

ez

And even if you DO, you can still play normal races, with twice as many people no less.

Actually I do... it pays when u have a job and u can buy whatever u want and a collage campus takes care of the friends thing.  and what do u mean many more multiplayer modes?  there is only race and battle?  so anyway since no1 still has answered my question i guess that means battle mode is limited to 4-players.

Pathetic...

Whats pathetic is that u see this game for more then that.  I beat this game in 2 days 100%.  there is absoultly no point to keeping it unless there is multi-player.  Im al ready bored with playing the racing and battle is the only thing fun now.  so could some1 please answer my question? Is there 8 players battle mode? or is it only vs?

Nintendo Gaming / RE:LAN parties
« on: November 21, 2003, 08:56:04 PM »
Lan parties should be between friends u know or friends of friends you know.  I would never goto a Lan party I saw on the internet like a message board or something even if it was just down the street.  For all I know im being lured into a trap with my GC and tv just to be stolen by some thugs (yes it has happened b4 to people).

besides it would also be near impossible to find just 1 person to come.  I suggest you call up your friends, convince them all to buy MKDD and have a lan party together

BTW if u cant have 8 players battle mode then this practacally ruines the game for me cause thats what I bought this game for.

Now I dont need to buy thier lame rehashed mario party game, a GBA game with no GBA and a snowboarding game that does not interest me.

« on: November 21, 2003, 02:11:27 AM »
ok thanks for clearing things up for me.  I guess i got lucky then with that zelda disc cause all i neede to do was register my gamecube system and mario kart.  few... cause i was not planing on buying any of those other games that they say u need.

and as for the mario kart disc,  well thats pretty lame that u have to preorder.  Since I work at wal-mart i buy all my games from thier cause thier cheaper and i get discount.  If i wanted to per-order i would of had to go to EB (only store that does pre-order) and thier always like 5$ more expensive, dont have an ez return policy like wal-mart + I would get no discount.  so In the end If I preorder games I pay more for them so this is why I never do it.  anyways im going into work tonight and ill see if wal-mart has any copies with the demo disc, and if they do then ill just do an exchange.

thanks
