Right?

I mean, the graphics have improved quite a lot since first shown, but not by THAT much.

Bloodworth: From what I gather from all the screenshots I've seen, it appears that some characters can turn into animals. One guy turns into a wolf. Neat.

The cut scenes are when it shows the characters talking to each other, as for an example of showing tiamat ( the red haired female Social Knight) is talking to the group in the town and then they start to run off :/

More cats. Anyone else see the person that turns into a cat?

The yellow cat was known for a while along with the other blue cat, the cats come from a race that seeming to be located on the western side of the map that was shown around a couple of weeks back.

those are some of the dark things that you come across during the Fire emblem games

FE3- *You have blood seen coming out of the dragon that Anri kills at the start when it shows up as drawings.

    * A person that was once in your team kills himself in an explosion by blowing up the castle entrance at the end of chapter  in book 2.

    * Garnef Dark magic spell

FE4- * All the dark magic tomb, speacaily the Hell tomb.

    * Your units scream after they say their death quote.

fE5- * You see at the starting of the game with a picture of King Lenster with a spear or sword that go through his stomach.

    * Same with FE4 about the dark magic tombs.

FE6- * You see blood on a couple face in the game

    * Humans killing off mostly humans (fire emblem) is seem alot more dark graphical then humans killing off mostly monsters(Zelda).

    * Most of the Main characters die during conversation or they show them with Map models, just think what Intelligent System will be able  to do now with cutscenes going to be on the gamecube version.

All so to add, that they were only on SNES/GBA, so they can't even do most of the stuff that the N64/Gamecube is able to pull off and still has darker stuff in it then a N64/Gamecube games, there is no way that the Zelda series is seen as darker in storyline or graphically as the Fire emblem series.

He's just saying it isn't as some of the Zeldas not all. Well you can't really say tha WW was dark artistically. But MM definitely had 'darker' theme

If he is just comparing Fire emblem(7 in Japan) to the some of the Zelda games.  It was a bit hard for this to have alot of dark themes seeming that it was just made to fill in plot holes from Fire emblem 6 in Japan.   Plus I don't really see how OoT and MM(if your talking about those two in hand)  had dark themes o_O.  Most fire emblem games have alot darker themes then the Zelda series.

Anyway if anyone hasn't seen them

This game doesn't have any reason not to look like Zelda or something... except Fire Emblem is way more serious than Zelda (story wise at least..., it's definately not as dark artistically as some Zelda games).

What Zelda art has been dark artistically then?

Fire emblem is a Strategy/RPG game, the US version is number 7 in the series.

norebonomis the gamecube one is out sometime in America in Q2, so it best to wait for that instead. Though if you want to try out the gameboy advance ones, go look for Fire emblem along with the new GBA Fire emblem: The sacred Stones which I think is out around March or April.

It pretty much a Cel shaded FMVs, it will be sort of like what you see in the Final Fantasy series on PS2 but the Fire emblem Video clips will probably be use to view more stuff like fighting scenes between characters, armies  then what you see in Final Fantasy series.

I woud have to say it my second favorite out of the six games I played so far,  it dumbed-down a little bit  like when some of the enemies love to fight the slower character even if they can't do any damage at all ( but at least the bosses aren't like that , but still very challenging at the same time.  An example when  lots  enemy troops comes from no where and you easly out numbered, so you need to think of a strategy to fight back, but also keep everyone in your party safe at the same time.

Fire emblem 7: blazing swords

Basically, this story take place around twenty years before FE 6, "Fire Emblem: Fuuin No Tsurugi", or, in English, "Fire emblem: Sword of Seals". One may meet some characters from FE 6 while playing the game (not as enemies...just in houses or village...a small talk, may give you items), while some parents of the FE 6 units appear playable in FE 7 as well...

The back-story to this is that a thousand years ago, humans and dragons lived separately, not intervening one another, however, the humans began to grow somewhat...greedy, which sparked discontent between the alliance of dragons and men...soon...war broke out, and the war became known as The Great War of Dragons and Man¨...The dragons had a huge advantage in strength, size, power, and valor...however, the humans eventually won due to eight powerful weapons in the hands of eight powerful leaders/generals, who worked together to vanquish the dragons from the land...they were referred to as The Divine Eight¨. After the dragons were defeat, the eight leaders were then separated, residing in their most loved location on the land...for the Savior Haltmut, he chose Bern, powerful...The Holy Sister Eliminue resided in the land currently called Etruria in her holy name...The Divine Horse-back Hanon liked the plains, so he took that, and it is now called Sacae, those who live there going though a nomadic life, and learn to live with the horses and the wild...The Honorable Knight’s homeland area, named Ilia, is known for its mercenaries, referred to as The Knights of Ilia¨...The Beserker Tiulban went to the savaged islands to the west, know as The Three Islands of the West...The Arch-sage Atso moved to the south, to The Deserts of Nabato¨...The Hero Roelan resided to Lycia, which is known for its Lycian Alliance¨.

Now, 980 years pass, the story starts with you, an advisor-in-training, amongst your travels, fainted on the plains, to be rescued by Lin, a 15 year old Sacae-resident of the Lolka Tribe.  As you exchange greetings with her, trouble stirs outside. Lin goes out to check, and finds out it is the Gulu bandits, having previously tried to attack the village several times before...she tells you to stay in the tent while she goes out to fight, but you say you want to help...she questions your weapon-wielding ability, and soon finds out your profession of being an advisor...

After the battle, you must continue your journey...however Lin offers to join you in your travel to Elub to train in your advisory skills, while she trains her swordsmanship...you ask her if her family would mind...only to find out they died half a year ago...and that her tribe barely exists due to the viscous attacks by the bandits, launching them into a state of chaos and confusion...you agree, and set out soon later...you visit the nearby merchant town of Bulgar, the largest city of Sacae to restock supplies...you meet two Knight of Lycia, and encounter another batch of bandits...upon defeating them, the Knights convince you and Lin to head towards Lyica...along the way, you meet a pair of twin’¨ brother and sisters, Nilus and Ninian, who seem to be sought by a group called The Fangs of Darkness¨...in addition, you meet the Eliwood and Hector, but do not get to take command of them yet...

After Lin’s ending, you will start from the ending save file, to Eliwood’s campaign.  The story goes like this...Pherae is part of the Lycia Alliance...and it seems to be fated not to be involved with long struggles...however, a lord well-known and loved by the people of Pherae, Elubard, suddenly left on a journey with his knights, and mysteriously disappeared, and not a trace of where he went...a month passed...Elubard’s whereabouts are still unknown...rumours start spreading that the lord is already dead...however, his son, Eliwood, believes he is still alive...and decided to set out on a journey to search for his father...Eliwood is refered to as the Red Haired Prince¨, and is soon to join Lycia’s Knights of the First Class...

Marcus is a Paladin who follows him...as they prepare to leave, he reports to him that preparations are done...Eliwood bids final farewells to his mother, promises her that he will return, tells a paladin to take care of her, and she leaves...Eliwood was about to leave, when Marcus says that they have to wait for his follower, Rowen, a Social Knight, and his recruitments¨...the reason why they did not bring much forces with them originally was because that they were needed back at Pherae to keep the order, due to his mother’s weakness in body...however, the village at which the Social Knight was sent to was attacked by Bandits, their leader the Mountain Theif Groznoi...they defeated the Social Knight, and demanded the village’s people to hand over any valuables...the Social Knight escaped, along with the village mayor’s daughter, skilled with the bow: Rebecca...

She asks Eliwood for assistance, and he agrees...he originally tells her to find a place to hide, but she refuses and offers (or more likely demands) that she joins in as an archer...after you defeat the bandits and conquer the town back, you are informed that in the west, at Laos, something horrible has happened, and the mayor over there, Daren, is preparing for battle...the informer, this town’s mayor, says that this is not rumor, and what he tells you was yesterdays news...his brother lives in Laos, and has informed him that his house in Laos has been burned down, and escaped back to this village with his family...he tells you that there will be a battle extremely soon...

Marcus comments, saying that if this is true, it will be quite bad...a battle in a time like this...he says that the oppressor has a high possibility on being on the side of another member of the Lycia Alliance...Marcus asks if Eliwood wants to be stirred up into this’ he answers that whether this case or the case of his missing father has any connections is still unknown, and that there are probably still more citizens inside the villages...so he agrees to investigate the matter...as he leaves, Rebecca attempts to leave, temporarily stopped by her father...he fears for her safety, but she wants to but her effort into Eliwood’s quest, and also argues that Eliwood was the village’s savior, and wants to repay him...she adds in that during her travels, she may bump into her lost brother...she also adds in that this will probably be the only way she can travel far, thus chancing that her brother will appear, in a long time, since the mayor has his duties to do...he finally agrees...and she leaves...

To get to Laos, they must travel through Santaruz...and the chances of his father’s journey taking him through here was very high, so he goes along the route...at Santaruz, there is an old friend of his father’s, so he is confident there will be little problems...however, he cannot be more wrong...at the Santaruz castle, the old friend speaks with a mysterious cloaked figure...the cloaked figure tells him Eliwood is approaching, and will seek clues on his father’s whereabouts...the old man, the father’s friend, asks how he should reply...the cloaked man says he should just say that he doesn’t know anything...however, as the old man had no children, and were such good friends with his father, he could not lie to Eliwood...the cloaked man seemingly understands and does not push it, saying that if Eliwood does not reach him, he does not have to lie...the old man is shocked...but agrees with the plan...

They reach an area of land, a valley, while going towards Santaruz...it is here that the ambush was planted, but Marcus saw it through, telling Eliwood to go behind him...the leader of the ambush mocked them for awhile, sarcastically pretending to be a villager...Marcus tells them to part and let them pass or else, but the leader, Zegan, doesn’t seem shaken, and tells his units to attack, himself moving to the back of the attack force...shortly after the initial wave,  the attack of a mountain thief and a sword-wielding mercenary unit, the leader says Eliwood is quite strong, and goes for Eliwood himself, along with almost the rest of his gang..

Eliwood questions how many more there are, and comments that if this continues, they will have a disadvantage...just then, Hector, and axe-wielding lord, tries to pass through here, but is blocked by a spear-wielding soldier...he questions why this specific part was blocked, seeing his travel here seemed smooth...the soldier replied rudely that it was none of his foreign business, and Hector says that he must pass, as the one under attack was one of his best pals...the soldier was shocked, but before he could react Hector killed him with his axe...

Sara, a Sister, appears, commenting on how she despises his violence, Matthew, a Theif, appears as well and comments on how Hector easily dispatched himself of the soldier, while Oswen (also known as Osin) appears too, and comments on how strength is not everything...Hector says the talk is over, and that the most important thing was helping Eliwood defeat the gang...Oswen comments on how he thought it was more chaotic stuff, seeing as how Hector’s tone was...Hector replies kind of jokingly annoyed, and Oswen just says he understands...he tells Matthew to take Sara north to hide from this battle, despite Sara’s want to join in this battle...after the battle, Eliwood questions why he is here, and Hector initially answers something else, like that they need more help, why didn’t he inform him of such an important quest, but when Eliwood asks about the newly risen lord Woezel of Ostia’s new government, and how it needs Hector, the brother of the new lord, to help and support Woezel, Hector finally gets on topic...

He replies that his brother thinks in a different way, and sees his actions more needed here than back at Ostia...on the appearance his brother shows nothing for it, but between them, his brother knows his travel route and location well...Eliwood then comments on how grateful he is towards Woezel, and how is relieved...Oswen pops up, and Hector asks if Eliwood recognizes Oswen...it appears they are old acquaintances as well...Sara pops up, and complains how Hector didn’t pick her and Matthew up after the battle ended, and Matthew apologizes for not being able to control her, thus causing her to interrupt the conversation...Eliwood asks who these newly met people are, and Hector says that these are his companions, despite (hinting) SOME are less than desirable...Sara asks what was the meaning of that, then says to Matthew saying how Hector is mocking him...Matthew chuckles, saying that she twists facts, when Hector was talking about her...

Eliwood asks for a formal introduction, and it happens...Hector calls Matthew a Tomb Raider, and Eliwood questions what does he do...he replies picking locks, opening chests, and all that, and Eliwood asks what is the difference with that and a thief...Hector just tells him to never mind the small details...Eliwood tries to reply, but is cut off, then after that he asks whether Hector known something about his missing father...Hector replies nothing, just bad rumours...he hears a group of assassins have been increasingly active in Lycia lately, and that the best mercenaries and personnel have vanished without a trace...Eliwood recalls the Leader of the gang he just fought refer to something related, and Marcus asks for his word in this matter...and Hector meets another old friend, ditto for Marcus...Marcus thanks Hector, and proceeds to tell him that it seems that some of them were acting strangely...Hector acknowledges this, also wondering why the Soldiers did not act to help Eliwood even though they saw the battle...

Eliwood asks Marcus to comment on the battle and the tactics, and Marcus proceeds to tell them...then, they set off on the journey to search for Eliwood’s father, only to find much, much more...

Now, you may be wondering Hector’s side of the story up until they meet...well, here it is...the news of Elubard’s disappearance has spread across Lycia...thus, the people of Lycia, be it citizen or lord, are left in guesses and worries...the Ostia lord, Woezel, did not take action towards this event...on the other hand, Hector, he who is referred to as a weirdo and also a childhood friend of Eliwood’s, could not sit back and not help, especially with that deep value in friendship of his...unlike other lords, he trained in the skills with an axe...

One day, he goes to seek his brother, yelling loudly, while Oswen tells him to calm down, and he replies with saying how can he calm down...his brother finally appears, and asks him what does he want...Hector pleads Woezel to act on the case of Elubard’s sudden disappearance...however, like previous discussions, his brother rejects, saying it is of no direct relationship with Ostia, and they cannot act suddenly...however, Hector argues that the there have been activities in Laos, which Woezel should know about, and that he should be clear of the fact of the affair...however, Woezel still rejects, giving another reason...the internal condition within Lycia just can’t afford to send troops, and remind Hector that he must understand that point...Hector then tells his brother to sit on his precious throne, and he will go alone...Oswen tries to stop him, but Woezel tells him to let Hector leave, as no amount of persuading would change his mind...

He enters a room near the exit, and calls out to Matthew, asking if he’s there...Matthew just kinda puffs¨ in, and Hector asks why he can’t use the normal entrance...they chat, and you find out Matthew was in charge of preparing for Hector’s departure from Ostia, from axe-preparing to secret-passageway preparing...Hector tells Mathew to be careful, not to let his brother find out, and Matthew is surprised, thinking that he would go with him...Hector does not completely trust Matthew enough to bring him along, since Matthew is an underling of his brother, being a detective of some sort...Matthew hesitantly agrees...Hector was about to leave, when suddenly he spots a hidden unit, and tells him to expose himself...he asks who he was, but the Soldier unit did not respond...

He rushed towards the Soldier unit, but he disappears into a hidden passageway...from another hidden passageway, another small image dashes out, and Hector raises his axe, preparing to strike, just stopping before after he found out it was Matthew...complaining about how he nearly lost his head...Hector blames his sudden entrances and exists...Hector asks why Matthew returned, and he said he sensed danger nearby, so he returned...Matthew then asks Hector what to do...the passageways probably won’t work...Hector doesn’t want the imperial guards to get involved... so, they decide to rush out, via killing those who oppose their path...the manage to do so, and Matthew tells him to start fleeing for his freedom to help Eliwood to take off immediately, and that the previous battle had attracted attention...seeing Matthew as reliable, Hector takes him in to follow him on his journeys...

Back to his brother, a soldier tells him that Hector is gone...kinda half-half on the feeling of Hector’s departure...he suddenly suggers pain from his sickness, and still says he’s ok...Oswen suggest that he rest more...then, the lord tells Oswen to follow Hector for safety and such...as they near Eliwood’s location, they meet Sara, a Sister, known to them...then that approximately brings us to the point where Hector and Eliwood’s forces meet...

Fire emblem anime
I got this from the site Sigurd’s pants

Review- Err ok this is my first time reviewing a movie, so here goes. The Fire Emblem Anime is very good the end... ok just kidding. This anime is definitly for fans of the game. It's base on Dragon Of Darkness And Sword Of Light, but they call it Mystery Of The Emblem. It doesn't matter what the name is. To those of you who never played the game, then you might not enjoy it as much. It follows the game nicely. Of course it also adds some extra stuff in it too. The story is the same thing. It includes Chapter 1 and 2, and that's it. Yep it just ends at Chapter 2. From what I've heard it's not being continued... *sigh* Those of you whose looking for an anime with tons of blood, and nudie should look elsewhere. It used a lot of music from the game, and they sound great! My only complaint is the battles are a bit short, but the animation for the sword fights are very good. Some of the english voices are lame. Like Gordon's voice. I never saw the subtitle one. This is definitly for fans of the game.

Fire emblem BS
I never play them before, but there were four of them.  You control some of the characters from fire emblem 3.Like the map where you control Nina, but that map goes on forever, which is a bit annoying. Some of the maps are insane, like the one where you have Julian, Rena, Nabarl, and a couple new characters (one of which are females). And then on the map you have like a ton of treasure chests, a million thieves, and tons of enemies everywhere! It's so insane.  These were truly hardcore maps for FE3 fans.  Interesting to note, BS FE came out after FE4.

Special thanks

Love
Love is an important thing in fe4, it when a man and a woman exchange body fluids, ok you reallydon’t see that in the game but love determents what the second generation stats will be like and help with critical attacks if the character has a lovers/sister/brother ect. Well in this game the character get married and have kids, the kids will inherit their parent's skills and weapons (if they can). So how do the characters fall in love? First make sure they are the opposite sex (of course). Second make them talk to each other IF they can. Third when they do anything like battling or healing, make sure they stand next to the person you want them to fall in love with. You can make your own couples if you want. Oh they are on their mother's side. It doesn't matter who their father is, because even if you pair the girl with another guy, her kids will still look the same. They will only inherit skills and items from their father. But People like Sigurd, can’t be partner up with anyone besides the character that they have to meet up with.

Example

Sigurd can only love Diadora.
Cuan can only love Ethin.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Being the last game to be released on the super Nintendo in Japan, Thracia 776 was a side story to Genealogy of the Holy War. This game had some of the most amazing graphics for a SNES and also said that it to be one of the hardest games in existence.
Mainly this game shows you what you missed out when Prince Leaf try to make army destroy the Thracians.

The story might be hard to understand for new people to the series so I a write down what happened before this event started.

Prince Cuan of Lenster and his wife Ethin ( Sigurd’s sister) were slaughtered by the Thracian Dragon Knights I the Yied Dessert while trying to reach Sigurd’s Army. After that Torbant (the leader of Thracia) flew his whole army to seize Lenster Castle. King Lenster and his army were ready to battle the Thracians but he was betrayed by his allies the Conote army. While the Lenster’s Army fights back bravely, Cuan’s most loyal knight Finn grabs his daughter Nanna and Prince Leaf and flees the castle too safely. The Empire search around the area to find Leaf too try to kill him, but Finn was also one step ahead of them and hid in different towns to keep the Prince safe at all costs. They stayed in Tahra, Alster, and finally Fiana. Fiana was a small village led by Eyvale. Fiana used to be a hide out for bandits until Eyvale beat the hell out of them and took it over. She gathered the villages' strong young warriors and formed a little band to protect other villages from bandits and pirates and they were called Fiana Braves When Leaf arrived at Fiana, Eyvale happily welcomed them. Leaf respected Eyvale a lot. He was also making friends with the people of the village. And so Leaf settled in living in Fiana and slowing maturing. Then, in the year Grand 776 Leaf was discovered by Grandbell Empire. General Lederick and his men were sent to invaded the village to try and capture Leaf, but Leaf was away with Eyvale's Fiana Braves. Unfortunately, Eyvale’s daughter Mareeta and Nanna stayed behind in the village and were captured. Lederick took them both with him back to Manster while the others enemies stayed behind to wait for Leaf to return. When they did return, Eyvale noticed that something was wrong and told one of the Fiana Brave’s Othin to check it out. Othin came back and told them that the Empire has finally discovered them. Eyvale told Leaf to flee while she keeps them busy, but Leaf refused to leave without Nanna. He decides to stay and fight. Of course Finn goes wherever Leaf goes. So they all stayed to fight off the soldiers and planned to recuse the girls and form a rebellion to save Lenster.

Anyway the battle system is mainly just like the other fire emblem games, but some new adjustments were made.

The stats when back down to 20 instead of 30 like seen in FE4. Instead of having magic attack and magic defence, there were combined into one to make it easier. A new stat was added called body. Just for thieves, if their body was higher then the enemies build then they could steal the enemies’ weapons and items. But the main reason body was added in because to help you capture enemies. If your body higher then the enemy you could capture them. The down side was you needed to bring there hp down to zero and your stats will drop just for awhile when you tried to capture someone.

Fire emblem 6: The sword of seals

Yeah...they made a game that historically speaking is AFTER its sequel. Oh well...story goes like this. Some time ago, humans and dragons lived on the same continent. The lived apart, their living not quite intervening with one another. Peace between the two did not last long, however...the humans, greedy in nature, invaded the land of the dragons...naturally, war arose...the battle was won when all humans joined under on alliance (for more detail check the FE7 story). A thousand years pass after the victory...humans grow tired of the alliance. There are now several countries with different people. The western Kingdom of Etrutia, highly developed, the eastern Kingdom of Bern, powerful, and the other lesser countries/kingdoms, which include the Lycia Alliance (aka League of Lycia), the tribe of nomadic Sacae who live on the prairies north of Bern, and others, such as the Ilia, north of the Sacae, and the deserts of Nabata, south west of Etruria. The power is more or less balanced.

That is, until the king of Bern decided to invade the other areas, especially the center of the continent (yes...I know what youre thinking...its ironic that Hector and Eliwood saved this king while he was still very young in FE7, while the kid repays them after growing up by invading their land...but he has a reason...his support/advisor is a shadowy female cloaked, and she claims this is for the liberation¨ aka freedom of the world...why he believes her I have no idea). The
Bern army conquers nearly all that are between Bern and Etruria, and even Sacae and Ilia is being taken...even the Lycia Alliance area is in great danger of being conquered.

Roy, the son of the duke of Pharae, was off training in Ostia, a major city in the League of Lycia, and has close relationship with Pharae (in FE7, Roy becomes duke of Pharae, Hector becomes duke of Ostia...duh?), while his father was left in Pharae due to a sickness, disabling his fighting prowness...while Roy was off training in Ostia, the daughter of Hector, the duke of Ostia, went to Pharae to visit...returning from his training, accompanied by his loyal aides from Pharae (Wolts, an Archer, Alan, a Social Knight, and Marcus, a Paladin), along with Lilina¡¦s sworn guard, an Armor Knight by the name of Bors, travel via sea back to Pharae...

On their arrival, a social knight from the castle, Lance, rushes to them, telling that bandits have surrounded the castle and attacked it...originally, Eliwood, the famed Lycia Lord Knight of Pharae, could have fended them off himself, but as you know, he is sick, disabling most of his prowess...he tells Lilina, a mage-in-training, not to fight, as he does not know how to explain to Hector if she fell in battle...along in the castle is Marinus (bald version XD), a transporter aka storage unit, which you get in the 2nd chapter...

After you conquer the castle, you find that the three people I mentioned (Lilina, Marinus, and Eliwood) are all right, unhurt...Roy and his small army proceed to the north east, to towards Bern...at their next they battle their way towards Bern, going through Etruria, Nabata, Ilia, and Sacae as they go...soon, they find themselves against humans with the power to change themselves into the form of dragons...not just the ones that Dragon Knights ride one...but the one that is made of legend...these people are named Mamkutes...they were originally dragons who have been sealed off to another world/dimension, re-entering this world via The Dragons Gate, and as to prevent their power from being lost in this world, as it does not replenish as it does in their world, they seal their powers in a stone, known as the Makute Stone and turn into humans...the Mamkute Stone¨ can be unleash their original dragon form when in battle...you find out that there is a sword that has been sealed off, the one sword that can seal the power of the Mamkutes, turning them into ordinary humans...the Sword of Seals...the entrance to the shrine which holds is none other than the legendary emblem of holiness...the Fire Emblem...

So now you've got what you need to do, how to read unit stats and how to play your cards- err, weapons- correctly. Yet you still need to be able to control your army with ease without turning the battlefield into chaos. That's when commands come into play. As in Advance Wars, you are not an actual "player" in the field- you are a tactician, an advisor. Thus, you'll be giving commands to your units while the AI takes care of the fighting. Sounds simple for you? Don't bet on it.
In the Fire Emblem series, commanding a unit is made up of three main orders:

Attack
Use/Set (Equip)
Stay

First, one must select the unit he or she wishes to move. Once that has been done, they can select where they wish to move within their field of motion (signified in the later versions by blue blocks). If they are not in the range of attacking an enemy, trading items with an ally, or anything else, they will have the option to either use an available item such as medicine or set a weapon for counter-attack if they have a choice between two, or stay where they are. The turn progresses until all units have been used in this manner. Once all units have either been moved or the turn has been manually ended by selecting the End Phase command on the Advisor Menu (you can get it up by pressing A on an unoccupied square), the Player Phase ends and the Enemy Phase begins.
If a unit, upon moving from their field of motion, is in the range to attack an enemy (which will be defined in the classes section), the attack command will come up. When selected, the weapon select menu will pop up, displaying your available weapons, their strength, critical, and accuracy. After selecting a weapon, a confirmation screen will display which enemy you wish to attack (if more than one are in the range of attack), along with weapon type, HP, strength, accuracy, critical, and defense of both adversaries. After confirming your enemy, the battle screen will appear, both units will attempt to deal damage, and once the units have finished their attacks the unit's experience meter will be displayed and the map screen will come back up.
Other equally important commands:

Capture - a FE5 technique of capturing a weak enemy. Sometimes more valuable than killing them. In FE6 and 7, it becomes a command to protect weakening units from death.
Claim - A command only available to Lords. Used to finish a chapter.
Trade - If two characters are beside each other, they can trade their goods between each other. Can be helpful if one of them is in a sticky situation.
Steal - A technique available only to thieves to steal items from enemies. Extremely valuable.
Heal - A technique used by Sisters/Monks to heal units they are beside.
Open - A command available to any unit that possesses a thief's rope, door key, or chest key.
Support - Used between two special units to talk/support each other. In FE4, the Support system is crucial in determining the next generation of warriors in the Holy War, as those that fall in love will bear children; in FE6 and 7, Support is more based on friendship than anything else, where if two units with high support stats for each other are beside each other, their overall stats will rise.
House - Used by any character when standing on a small house or at the gate of a big house. Do not forget to talk to these people in the small houses, as they possess very valuable information, and be sure to protect the big houses, as sometimes their inhabitants can even have rare items, gold, or enemy defectors...
Defect - Used by a special unit (usually defined at the beginning of a chapter) to defect an enemy unit. One of the only ways to get super-powerful classes.
Sing/Play - Used by Bards and Dancers to make a unit that has already done a command the ability to take one more command. Incredibly useful.
Shop - Used by a character that is standing on a weapons or spells shop. Good for buying medicines, weapons, and great for selling your old ones.

Although you may start out with what seems like a fantastic troupe to begin your journey with, you might find out in the later chapters that it is, to say the least, lacking. Your Jeigan character is starting to show its flaws. The Social Knight you thought was fantastic is falling to pieces in level growth. Your archer has been killed. Your Lord's Rapier, broken. What can you do? You can get other people from the enemy to defect to your side!

Usually, the enemy army at the beginning of every chapter will have at least one defector. This unit will have a real face (unlike the generic emblem to signify the enemy army in the personal data screen) and will usually be hinted at by the preface at the beginning of the chapter. Now here's the hard part: the enemy unit will ONLY defect if a certain unit from your army talks to him/her (this command will usually be placed above the attack command). It is up to you to deduce which unit will be needed to get the enemy unit on your side. Most of the time, enemies will defect when talked to by your resident Lord. Sometimes, however, you may need to use other units- and even units that previously defected from the enemy- to get them to join you. While you try to do that, the defector will still remain an enemy, attacking your units relentlessly, and your units will still counterattack. And if the supposed defector dies before you can talk to him with the right unit, he/she is lost forever.

Fire Emblem Classes
Info: The Lord is always the leader of your army. As mentioned before, a Lord's survival is absolutely vital. This means you have to always protect him. Typically, Lords have random stats, but they use Swords so they'll have a lightweight edge against axe users you usually fight in early game, and they usually also use the most legendary weapons. Luckily, you'll never have to fight Lords as enemies.
Class variations:
Regular Lord - your basic Lord
Hero - only in FE2, but not really a variation
Magic Lord - only in FE2, Celica is of this class and can use Magic as well as Swords
Royal - only in FE2, this is Celica's promoted form
Junior Lord - only in FE4, though not really a variation
Lord Knight - only in FE4 and FE7, horse riding Lord, promoted from Junior Lord or Regular Lord in Elwood's case
Prince/Princess (FE4 variation) - not really a Lord so he/she doesn't have to survive, but you only have one at a time and he/she always has poor stats, but wait until you promote this unit........
Prince (FE5 variation) - only in FE5, though not really a variation; your Lord in FE5 promotes to this after a certain event
Master Lord - only in FE6, though not really a variation; Roy promotes to this after a certain event
Blade Lord - only in FE7 as Lin's promoted form, can use Bows as well as Swords
Axe Lord - only in FE7 as Hector, uses Axes
Great Lord - only in FE7 as Hector's promoted form, can use Swords and Axes

Info: The Knight is the Lord's most loyal follower. It's common for Knights to have better stats than Lords, but despite this, their survival is less important than their Lord's, since they merely follow orders if anything. Most Knights tend to ride horses, and typical Knights also use spears when doing so.
Class variations:
Regular Knight - only in FE3, dismounted version of Social and Pegasus Knights, uses only Swords
Social Knight - in all games, mounted, only average stats, uses Spears and Swords
Paladin - in all games as the promoted form of the Social Knight class, and can use Axes in FE6 and FE7
Great Knight - only in FE2 as the promoted form of the Paladin class
Lance Knight - in FE4 and FE5, mounted and restricted to Spears
Duke Knight - promoted form of the Lance Knight class, still restricted to Spears
Free Knight - in FE4 and FE5, mounted and restricted to Swords
Forrest Knight - promoted form of the Free Knight class, still restricted to Swords
Axe Knight - in FE4 and FE5, mounted, restricted to Axes
Great Knight - promoted form of the Axe Knight class, still restricted to Axes
Bow Knight - in FE4 and FE5, mounted and restricted to Bows, and the same case applies to (you guessed it) their promoted form, Arch Knight
Mage Knight - in FE4 and FE5 as the promoted form of certain Mages, still restricted to attack magic’s
Troubadour - in FE4, FE5, FE6, and FE7, mounted and restricted to white magic’s
Valkyrie - in FE6 and FE7 as the promoted form of the Troubadour class, can use attack magic’s as well as white magic’s
Master Knight - promoted form of FE4's Prince/Princess class, can use any type of weapon (except Dark Magic which was restricted to enemies)

Info: The Armor is another loyal follower of the Lord. Equipped with heavy armor, Armors are difficult to hurt, let alone badly, with mere physical attacks. However, they are slow, unskilled, and unable to block magic attacks very well. Armors are best used as guards to prevent units with physical weapons from getting past them.
Class variations:
Regular Armor - uses only Spears
Sword Armor - only in FE4 and FE5, restricted to Swords
Axe Armor - only in FE4 and FE5, restricted to Axes
Bow Armor - only in FE4 and FE5, restricted to (surprise!) Bows
General - promoted form of ALL other Armors, can uses Spears, Axes (starting in FE4), Swords (not in FE6 or FE7), and Bows (only in FE4 and FE5)

Info: The Flying Fighter is a fighter that rides a flying pet. Flying Fighters are allowed by their pets to fly anywhere outdoors without worrying the terrain slowing them down, and their pets have strong Movement as well. However, Flying Fighters are susceptible to getting knocked off their pets by arrows. Never the less, they can be very useful, and they come armed with Spears as well.
Class variations:
Pegasus Knight - one of the two basic types of Flying Fighters, has high Magic Defence, Speed, and Skill, but poor Physical Strength and Defence
Falcon Knight - promoted form of the Pegasus Knight

Other classes:
Sister: they are magic users mainly used for recovering you army

Mage: magic user can attack from both a space wide or hand in hand, also uses Neutral Magic

Shaman : magic user = can attack 1-2 range, also uses dark Magic

Monk magic user can attack form a range is 1 AND 2 and uses Light Magic

Thief: speed, slightly skill, a bit of luck, with steal ability (can steal non-weapon items from enemy), and open lock ability (normal characters have to use a specific key for a door and a chest, a thief with his tools [30 uses or so] can open both doors and chests...when full, chest items will ask you which ones to throw away [if u don't have storage caravan/tent yet], or to send to caravan...however, for stealing, the thief must have on free space) --------> sword
Bard -----> only ability = allows on unit who already has moved to move again...low stats, except for mag def and speed

Dancer or Bard: dancer are only female and dances and bards plays the flute, allows one of your units to work again

Tent ----> literally, a tent...once you get this, you get the choice of whether or not to place him in the map...you don't get to choose WHERE though. its predetermined...the tent does not move...when your units are directly next to it, the caravan ability pops up, which is like extra storage space...unit inventory max is 5, while tent/caravan is 100!...cannot gain EXP normal way, so the way it gains levels is when it does NOT die in a chapter where you placed him

Fire emblem one
Thousand years ago, the dragons on the continent of Akanaea had been possessed by the King of the Mamkutes (humans that can change form into dragons with the power of orbs), Medeus. The dragons killed the humans, burned their houses, and sent darkness throughout the land...
The priests, pleading to the Gods for a hero to save them from the misery and torture of the dragons, recieved a child born on the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year. This child was called Anri.
When Anri grew up to become the great hero, he summoned the great sword of light, the Falchion, along with the great shield to command armies with ease, the Fire Emblem, and slain the dark dragon Medeus. The dragons disappeared into the horizons below, and the humans rejoiced. What followed were a Golden Age of mankind and many years of peace. When the great Anri ascended to the heavens above, he left the Falchion and the Fire Emblem behind, along with his next of kin, in case such a horrific event should ever come into play again.
A thousand years later, Medeus has awakened once again. With the help of the evil wizard Garnef, the King of Mamkutes has slowly been possessing those with weak minds to do his bidding, as the continent of Akanaea falls under darkness once again...
Enter Prince Marth, son of the Altean King Cornelius. Under attack by the now-incredibly-powerful Doluna empire, Marth has no choice but to be exiled to the small island of Talis, leaving his sister, father (soon to be murdered), and- most importantly- the divine Falchion behind. Two years later, the Garda pirates, under the command of Doluna, invaded the small island, hoping to at long last control the mainland. But Marth was no longer going to silently succumb to the growing dark tide- it was time to fight back.

Fire emblem 2

Sorry hardly anyone knows about this, so I can’t write about most of the details of this game. Ok Fire emblem 2 is about two gods that fighting over one land, the war ended up no where and the land was divided into to 2 countries called Regal and Sofia. The story starts for about two friends called Alm and Celica. They were childhood friends but one day, but Alm's grandpa split them up and sent Celica to elsewhere. A couple of years later Regal (where Celica was sent to) attacked Sofia, they were greedy for land and decides to attack when Sofia force was down. So Alm decides to fight back for his country and find Celica and Celica does vice -versa. The battle system is a lot different to the other FE’s out now. Like in FE4, even if your attack is lower than the enemies defence you can still do 1 hp of damage and you don’t have to equip weapons to fight. Archers can actually counter attack if they're attacked directly. This is the only FE that does that. Mages learn more spells as they level up. They also use up HP every time they cast a spell. So if you have only one HP left, you can't cast a spell.Anyway instead of have numbers showing you hit rate, att and def. You can see that there are bars that show how strong your character is. Plus the battle system doesn’t even have a back ground. Anyway the map is a lot different to the other fire emblem, you travel on a map like Super Mario 3. You're split up into 2 parties. One for Celica and one for Alm.You don't have to take turns moving them. You can focus on moving Alms first or Celica first. Or you can move one at a time. But beware cause the maps have moving enemies too. They move across the map to attack you.

Fire emblem 3

Five years have passed since Prince Marth defeated dark dragon Medeus with the Falchion. Since then, Prince Hardin married Princess Nina, becoming the sole ruler of Akanaea, and has been punishing those under the control of the Doluna Empire, much to the dismay of the Altean prince. As this time of peace passed, however, Marth heard horrible stories from the north about Hardin's army killing innocent people just because they were a part of the Doluna Empire. Was this benevolent ruler that was once his ally in destroying Medeus becoming an evil dictator bent on crushing all under his iron fist? In the back of Marth's head rang the last words of Medeus as he prepared to fight once again: "Even though you have killed me, I still live in the hatred of others! And as that hatred grows, I shall return stronger than you can ever imagine!"

Fire emblem 4
It was long ago, in the memories of long past, that darkness and hatred consumed all. All hope seemed lost for this world, until the twelve gods, sending their power from the heavens onto the earth, brought light to the darkness and hope to humanity. Those that brought light to the earth were forever known as the 12 Holy Warriors. For 757 years, peace reigned on the land...
On the continent of Jugdral, Grandbell rests within, a continent founded by a descendant of the 12 Crusaders, Heim the Saint. With six noble houses, the country is often under constant political conflict- with the exception of Lord Alvis from the House of Velthomer, who controls the personal army of the King Azmur. Anyway a peaceful town of Darna located in the Yied Desert was attacked by Isaacian Barbarians. Reports tolded of a massive slaughter taking place and was because of Grandbell. Acting on his father’s behalf the highly regarded Prince Kult who was soon to take the crown departed for the front commanding the lords from each dukedom to control the barbarians. Prince Kult couldn’t not do this alone, so Lord Byron of Chalphy and Lord Ring of Jungvy formed a huge amount of their armies to protect the future king of Grandbell while they travelled to Isaac. Back in Grandbell, Prime Minister Leptor was feeling he was going to lose his position to the Prince to become the ruler of Grandbell, so with Lord Rangobalt of Dozel being to form a coalition opposing the prince’s authority. Owing to a diplomatic alliance with Agustria to the west and the Verdane Kingdom to the south west, fear of any kind of aggression was virtually nonexistent. However that trust was betrayed all too soon.
One of the Princes of Verdane, Gandolf, heads toward Jungvy Castle to take over the kingdom when most of the Grandbell army was fighting a war in Isaac , where Lady Edin daughter of Lord Ring remains, unaware of the inevitable ambush. In the nearby land of Chalphy, the son of the renowned warrior Lord Byron, Sigurd finds out the Lady Edin was kidnapped by Gandolf. While Sigurd decides to go save Edin, a young boy who been training to become a knight under Sigurd called Oifey, repleys that the villages are going to be attack by the Verdane pirates so they have to save them too. While Oifey knows he can’t fight cause he way to young, he then becomes Sigurd’s personal Advisor. Seeing that most of Chalphy’s army is in Isaac, Social Knights Noish and Alec and Armor Knight Adan decide they not letting their prince fight alone by himself and join him to save Princess Edin. Meanwhile Velthome’s Prince Azel (Alvis half brother) and Prince Lex of Dozel found out about the news about what happened. See that Azel secretly love Edin he forces he best friend Lex to join Sigurd’s army. Even know Lex’s father hates Sigurd’s family, Lex was not as evil hearted as Rangobalt. Suddenly riding all the way from Lenster Prince Cuan and his wife Ethin (Sigurd’s sister) along with Cuan’s most loyal Knight Finn heard about the battle, Ethin was worried about Sigurd fighting with hardly a army to back him up and asked Cuan to please join, Seeing Cuan and Sigurd when way back together as teenagers he joins to help fight the Verdanes. (Now I have to cut the story a bit cause it so long ) During the way to Verdane castel Sigurd meets a young lady called Diadora who he falls in love with. (cut the story again) Anyway after Sigurd’s and his army defeated the Dark Mage that tricked the King of Verdane, with his last breath he told Sigurd to go and take over the Agustria area, so that the war will finally end. Little did anyway know that a Dark Mage called Manfloy was planing to restored a evil dragon to control the world once and for all, but to do that you need to get a couple with two different special bloods to mix together.

After controlling the Agustria area, Diadora and Sigurd and had a child called Serlis. Meanwhile Sigurd and his army had to versus the last pirate in Agustria, Diadora who had to stay in the castle, went out to look for Sigurd, but ended up been kidnapped by Manfloy. Sigurd killed the main pirate boss and came back to find out the Diadora was missing and Leptor and Rangobalt were after them for a crime. Caulde of Edda found out by his god that Leptor had planned an attack on Prince Kult and Rangobalt finished the Prince off by killing him of course. What was worse that Sigurd’s father Lord Byron was accused of the murder because he was with him all the time, and Sigurd’s is now a traitor to the Empire. Before Rangobalt and Leptor army could get them, some of Silesia Pegasus Knights come to the rescued and flew Sigurd’s army across the sea to Silesia.(cut a bit again) In Silesia, Sigurd decide to help this country after the violent attacks before heading back to the Grandbell empire. Cuan, Ethin and Finn said there going back to Lenster and will come back to help fight the Grandbell empire. (cut a bit again) While travelling through Silesia they reach there final point. Lord Byron was chased by Rangobalt’s men who planned to kill him, but got to Sigurd just in time to tell him to revenge his death and take the holy sword that passed down in his holy blood Baldo. The holy Sword the Treying give Sigurd’s a huge amount of power and he was ready to kill Rangobalt and Leptor. Sigurd’s army got to Dozel and Rangobalt was waiting for them with his holy axe Thor Hammer, seeing that sword easy beat axe in the series. You can guess who one.

After Rangobalt death, Sigurd’s army was travelling south through the Yied Desert, he told Oifey and shanan( a young prince of Isaac who was kidnapped by the verdanes) to take Serlis to Isaac where it will be safe for them now that the war over there has stop. Cuan, Ethin and some Lance Knights were travelling north to meet Sigurd’s army. While Ethin bought her two year old daughter Altenna with her but she left her young son Leaf back at Lenster Castle. She asked Cuan why the haven’t we got an enough people to help Sigurd’s battle. Cuan reminded her that Lenster is in a great battle of it own with the tharcian Dragon Knights lead by Torbant. That why he left Finn back in Lenster, just incase the dragons come to kill Cuan’s father, But little did Cuan and Ethin know that Torbant and some Dragon Knights followed them to the Desert. Even with the holy spear the Gayborg, Cuan, Ethin and the other knights were killed after a clever ambush planned by Torbant. Torbant looked at the Altenna crying on the ground, he told his men to follow and kill Sigurd’s army while he go back to thracia with the child. (read fe5 to find out about what happens to Lenster)
Sigurd’s army killed the dragon knights easy and find out about Cuan and Ethin’s death, Sigurd was pissed off and was ready to advance to Leptor Army. Finally Leptor’s army was insight. (cut the story again) Yay! Leptor Army was destroyed, the war had ended, Sigurd and his army when to see Alvis to get rewarded. Suddenly Diadora comes running out of Alvis castle. Sigurd couldn’t believe his eyes that Diadora was ok. Alvis then tells Sigurd that he proposed to marriage Diadora then told him that his time was he. That Right, Alvis Ambush Sigurd’s army and Kill most of them. Alvis just wanted the war to stop, but Manfloy trick him saying the Sigurd’s was preventing the war to stop. So Alvis did the only thing he could and that was to kill Sigurd and he did.

That was sad was it; Alvis now taking over the world and that was the end. Ok I am lying that just the middle of the game. 15 years have passed, Sigurd’s son Serlis is now going to finished off what he father begin. While during Sigurd’s army was battling, all the females had two children with a male from the Sigurd’s army. So there are going to help find a way to save the world. You might find out that Oifey and Shanan are grow up and are ready to battle beside Serlis and Finn is back and ready to rumble becoming the only character the gets to be used during the two generations.

Skills
Genealogy of The Holy War was the first Fire Emblem to have different types of skills for every character. These skills can be used in battle and on the field. Most of them are at random. Your character's skills are passed down to the second generation, so it's important to pick the right couples so their kids can get better skills.

Some of the skills are
Advancing – allows you to attack twice
Wrath- Always critical when you lose half your HP.
Meteor Hit- Randomly allows you to attack 5 times. The higher your skills the better
chance the Meteor hit works.
Elite-Gives you double the Exp.
Bargin- Get's 50% off in the shops.

If you can see now, it is the official Fire Emblem Hype thread made be me, seeming that most of you know about Roy and Marth in super smash bros melee, you could learn about some of the history about these two and the other characters in the great fire emblem series.
If you don't wan to read the Spoliers in the stories then don't read it
Fire Emblem History

Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu To Hikari No Tsurugi" for the NES and it was an instant hit. In this game, you play the role of the Altean Prince Marth, whose objective was to destroy the Dark Dragon Medeus who is leading Altea's biggest enemy Dolua to war. As you fight through the 20 chapters, you can gain allies to make your army grow, save villages spread throughout the land, buy better equipment or replacing broken equipment, and strengthen the troops of your usually outnumbered army, all while fighting to keeping your individual troops with unique skills alive so that they can assist Marth later on, defeating enemy troops, and eventually slaying Medeus in the 20th Chapter. It's your basic Fire Emblem and a nice one to start with after playing Fire Emblem 7.

One year later, "Fire Emblem Gaiden" was released for the NES. It is easily different from the other FE games, and you might say it is the Zelda 2 of the FE series. Regardless, in this game, you control two armies; one led by a male named Alm and the other by a female named Celica. Their job is to fight through Sophia and Regel in five chapters, ALL very long, and end a war between the two countries.

In 1994, "Fire Emblem: Monshou No Nazo" came out for the SNES as two games: a remake of "Ankoku Ryuu To Hikari No Tsurugi" with some things cut out and edited, and "Monshou No Nazo" itself, which takes place 5 years after when the first game took place. Once again, you have control of Marth, who defies the new Akanea emperor Hardin, one of his former allies, because he has been abusing his power, starting with Dolua's former allies. But there may be more than meets the eyes of Marth's army.

Two years pass after the release of "Monshou No Nazo," and then the most popular Fire Emblem to date, "Seisen No Keifu," comes out. The castle and item systems are changed to make the game require some more strategy, and a new system, the love system, further adds strategy to the whole game. Although there are only 12 chapters, counting a Prologue and an Epilogue, they are ALL VERY long. This time, your army's leader is Chalpathy prince Sigurd, and then it will be Sigurd's son Serlis once he is grown up, which happens between the middle 2 Chapters.

The SNES's last game, and the hardest SRPG to date, is "Fire Emblem: Thracia 776," which has been released in 2000. This game has you playing the army of a certain troop of Serlis's own army, Prince Leaf (from Seisen No Keifu), and the intro has spoilers for Seisen No Keifu, in English no less. As you fight through 25 chapters, you can have your own troops try to capture enemy troops to make them useful, fight to keep control of vital spots for winning the war, and perhaps even unlock Gaiden Chapters if you're clever enough.

Intelligent Systems tried moving on to the N64, but didn't do a good job, as mentioned. "Fire Emblem 64" was announced for the 64DD, but the 64DD never came out in the stores, and neither did FE64.

Then a ray of light came to the Fire Emblem series and its hope of coming out in North America and Europe: "Super Smash Bros. Melee," the GameCube's sequel to the original "Super Smash Bros." for the N64 which was made by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory (the makers of Kirby games including Kirby Super Star, which, if you didn't know, actually had an FE cameo in the form of the Falchion as a treasure in "Great Cave Offensive," even though it's called "Sword" in the English version). Marth (from FE1 and FE3) and Roy (from "Fire Emblem: Fuuin No Tsurugi") are both playable characters in the game, but you'd have to unlock them first. This game is the reason why plenty of Fire Emblem players who know English as their first language even know about Fire Emblem at all.

A few months later, "Fire Emblem: Fuuin No Tsurugi" came out for the Game Boy Advance, which had already been out for nearly a year. It was actually the FE64 that was being made, and it is the first Fire Emblem to have true multiplayer, although it is poor multiplayer. However, with the Support System and other features, this FE still has some good replay value. In this FE, you control the Pharae army, which is led by Roy. Their job is to guard the peace of the Eleb continent, which is being disturbed by a war between Bern, the aggressor, and Etruria, the big ally of Lycia.

Of course, this new Fire Emblem is what really got a major Fire Emblem community started. It is known as the FESS, which currently has over 500 members (although not nearly all of them post). Although the members are usually crazy, they are also friendly enough often enough.

A little over the year after the release of "Fuuin No Tsurugi," "Fire Emblem: Rekka No Ken" was released in Japanese, and should be released in America during early November. You play as an Advisor which you name, who goes through 3 story arcs, two of which, oddly enough, take place at the same time, and all three taking place 20 years before "Fuuin No Tsurugi." This game also uses a very identical system to FE6's.

Who knows what will happen with the FE series? Only time will tell.......

JEIGAN CHARACTER - n. [jay-gan] A super-strong unit that you initially start off with in the game (usually of the Paladin or Swordfighter class) that has boosted stats but poor level growth. Eventually, Jeigan Characters become weaker than your other units after several levels and become relatively useless. Some famous Jeigans: Jeigan, Evel, Magus
Origin - In Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light, Jeigan was a Paladin ordered by King Cornelius to protect Prince Marth with his life while in exile at Talis. While incredibly powerful during the first three chapters with the advantage of being a promoted class with boosted stats, his inability to recieve good level growth made his stats remain basically unchanged while Marth's growing army became stronger with every passing level. Eventually, FE players saw him for what he truly was- a senile old man, left on the benches during the later chapters. Thus, every character that has boosted stats but will eventually become worthless in the end has been named after him. Live long, Jeigan. Live long.

How Fire Emblem works
First off, if you have played any of the the Wars series, then you should have a good idea of what Fire Emblem is like. Basically, you move units around on grid like maps, once per unit per phase, until you win. However, partly because Fire Emblem has a medieval theme, it is NOT without major differences from the Wars Series.

As in AW, there are multiple types of fighting. However, there are also different things to take into account. First off, units that can attack from a distance can move and attack on the same turn. Secondly, no units are ever safe from immediate retaliation, so Archers can attack each other in the same round, despite being indirect units, although usually, bow users have an attack range of 2. And third, magic users can attack from 1 or 2 spaces unless the spell they use is a special one, which can attack from 3 to 10 spaces like the catapaults (which are used by bow users).

Usually, classes are equal enough that they can defeat each other and the victor of a battle between two almost equally tough armies will always tend to boil down to who is more strategic. For this reason, since opposition usually has superior numbers, it's a wise idea to take these stats into account:

HP - this is how much damage the unit can take before it dies. Dead units cannot be used again at all, certainly not without a great cost.
Physical Strength - this is added to a physical weapon's sharpness to determine the total amount of damage dealt physically.
Magic Strength - this is added to a black magic's sharpness to determine the total amount of damage dealt with magic.
Skill - added to the weapon's hit rate to determine the unit's hit rate, and also helps determine critical hit rate
Speed - helps determines evade rate and who attacks twice (you have to subtract each unit's weapon/black magic weight first)
Luck - helps determine critical hit/evade rate
Physical Defence - determines how much damage is cut from physical attacks
Magic Defence - determines how much damage is cut from magic attacks
Movement Power - determines how far a unit can move on plains, extra Movement Power is usually required for rough terrain
Body (FE5/6/7 only) - determines how much physical weapon weight is nullified

Also, units fight with items (counting weapons of both types as items), usually having a limiting number of uses before they break and probably disappear from your inventories.
